Kobe’s Teammates at Fault for Him Over-Shooting?

Everyone realizes that KB24 fired too many times (and inefficiently to boot) during the Lakers‘ third-consecutive loss last night (and he’s been gunning quite a bit of late), but Phil Jackson places the blame on the supporting cast for constantly looking his way instead of smartly feeding the post. From the OC Register: “Bryant made plenty of poor decisions Tuesday night, including not finding Gasol more often. But as Jackson tried to explain to reporters after the game, the onus is and always has been on Bryant’s teammates to do something productive to prevent him from lighting his own fire for energy to ride to victory. ‘Kobe’s going to come out there and attack if no one else is aggressive enough,’ Jackson said. ‘I always say, ‘If you feed him the ball, then you’re responsible for a lot of what’s going on.’ The simplest way for the Lakers to shake that bad habit? Reprogram themselves as a team that will go to Gasol every single night, appreciating how good he is at creating easy shots for himself and his teammates. Yet this remains a team – even with Gasol’s ridiculous efficiency early this season – ever-ready to fill supporting roles for Bryant, not Gasol. ‘That’s a problem for us,’ Jackson said.”

    This aint news

Kobe always been a gunner, aint never shot 50% from the field EVER.

In fact Brons rookie year was the only time his shooting percentage was lower than Kobe’s HIGHEST for a season

This works both ways…if Kobe’s team mates get a feed from Kobe they must decide on that instant if they are in a good popsition to make a good shot…sometimes a feed is not always a good feed…it may be a desperate way to get the ball off one’s hands for a lot of reasons…sometimes a feed is simply a “pause” to give a player more play options…I’d like to see the Lakers do their “triangle” with more quickness and rotation in the triangle…unfortunately and characteristically, the Lakers pause or hesitate far too long as though they’re not sure of what to do next with the ball giving the opponent’s defense the needed time to set up or break up the play…another way to put it is, the Lakers have a bad habit of “telegraphing” their offensive intentions…the opponents know that when Kobe gets a feed HE will go for it!…simple as that, and that’s why he’s double or triple teamed always…I’d like to see the Lakers really attack the paint area more…but that would mean more feed to Pau, Lamar, Matt or Ron…and to the Lakers in general, your shots off the dribble are so predictable…have any of you really studied seriously the ART of the head or shoulder FAKE? It’s always a good idea to FOUL BAIT your opponent’s aggressive defenders (Celtics/Heat/Nuggets/Thunders)…as NIKE would say, “Just Do IT”. Finally, the Lakers defense sucks…I’ve seen many easy lay ups as well as unguarded low posts…and after an opponent’s conversion, I see the usual three Lakers defenders under the basket dead on their tracks and just looking at each other as though saying, “I thought you had him covered!”….come on guys, you’re PROS and you do this for the money…we love and expect pros to play beautiful basketball the way it ought to be played (at best I’ve only been an amateur player)…if only you guys had the dedication and motivation of Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao whenever he gets up on that ring…and quite frankly, in the long haul he probably makes less money than you guys!…stay healthy and help each other when playing.
