Polladaday: Laker Stoppers?

Even if other teams are ahead of them in the standings, there’s still no doubt that the Lakers are the favorite in the West. But some squads are looking like they could give them a run for their money. Who should L.A. be worried about?

Who will be the Lakers' toughest competition in the West?

Suns baby. Beware the orange planet…. if they make the playoffs : /

Seriously though, you gotta be worried by a healthy Spurs team – them and the Celtics out East are two dangerous ball clubs come playoff time.

    Nobody. Ok, maybe spurs.

the way the lakers are playing of late, they should be afraid of every team

Spurs don’t have enough size, I’ll take the Jazz

  • Max

Not enough size? Duncan 6’11 Bonner 6’10, Mcdyess 6’9 Blair 6’7 Tiago 6’11, Your right not enough for Pau, Always Injured Bynum, and Lamar. Health, and development are key to San Antonio though.

I believe the Lakers will be the Spurs toughest competition in the West.

Tina and orange are correct. Lakers are not playing great. 4 game losing streak earlier, barely beat clips and nets. Lakers dont look like defending champs. Spurs, celtics, and mavs are the best right now. Miami closing the gap. ………. Great season so far.

The Spurs are the greatest threat out of those listed. I feel they have the best combination of personnel, defense, and experience. However, the number threat to the West in the Lakers would the Lake Show itself. Let’s be real, they’re just not focused at the moment.

Huey, lets be real, ‘not focused’ is a sorry excuse for not playing well. Especially given their cupcake schedule early. 4 game losing streak to utah, indy, mem, and hou is not a result of being unfocused. Call it what it is; theyre not playing well. …. And their offseason moves that many said made them better have not done tthat, at least not yet. Farmar, Josh powell and dj mbenga look very good to lal right now.

anyone whose ever payed any attention to any Lakers regular season since like 07 recognizes they do go on stretches of lousy play, heck they went on stretches of lousy play during the playoffs of that 09 championship year if we can all remember….its absolutely nothing new, and noone in LA is sweating. Still their conference to be won period.

OKC, they were their toughest competition last year.
