Sacramento Kings File Lawsuit Over an Exercise Ball

They’re suing exercise ball manufacturers over an injury that Francisco Garcia suffered while working out. Dude! The Knicks should totally do the same thing over what happened with Eddy Curry! (Or, maybe not. After all, what judge would believe that Curry works out?). From the Sac Bee: “A lawyer for the Sacramento Kings has filed a $4 million product liability suit over an exercise ball that burst in October 2009, injuring Francisco García. Filed in federal court, the suit seeks compensation for expenses the Kings paid to García for the games he missed because of the injury. In a news conference Wednesday, Roger A. Dreyer, attorney for the Sacramento Kings Limited Partnership and Maloof Sports and Entertainment, identified the allegedly faulty exercise ball as the Gymnic ‘Burst Resistant Plus’ Stability Ball. Ledraplastic, an Italian company that manufactures the ball; Ball Dynamics International, a Colorado company that provides access to exercise and therapy ball products; and M-F Athletic Company, doing business as Perform Better, a Rhode Island corporation that distributes the ball, are named as defendants in the suit. García was bench pressing two 90-pound weights while placing his weight on the 75-centimeter exercise ball when it burst, Dreyer said. He suffered a broken wrist, The Bee reported, and missed four months during the first year of a five-year contract extension worth $29.6 million. Dreyer said the exercise that García was doing when the ball burst was advertised by Perform Better as a technically correct way of using the exercise ball. The lawsuit alleges that all three defendants warranted that the exercise ball had a 600-pound capacity and was ‘burst resistant.’”

The funniest part of this is the thought of Garcia benching 90 lb dumbbells, He probably should’ve used a weight he can handle lol.

No, the funniest part of all this is that $4 million to the Maloofs is like what the cost of a cup of coffee is to me or you.

The best part is how the Kings aren’t the best organization in the league and they’re focusing on a exercise ball.
