The Pistons are Breaking Tayshaun Prince’s Heart

It’s so cold in the D. Especially for Tayshaun Prince. From the Free Press: “The Pistons had blown a 25-point second half lead to the lowly Toronto Raptors by being outscored, 48-20, in the final 14 minutes of the game. Prince, Richard Hamilton and Ben Wallace are holdovers from the championship season and fans figure the three should be able to will the team to victories because of their experience and two NBA Finals appearances. He said it’s not that simple. ‘It’s heartbreaking, but I just can’t explain it,’ Prince said. ‘I just don’t know how you walk off that court and lose that game. This is a 15-man roster. We need everybody to do it. You just can’t depend on one, two, three, four or five people. We need everybody. Obviously, when you see something like that it’s just a sign of not just what went on today but what has been going on throughout the season so far. I know you guys say, ‘Hey, Ben, Rip and Tayshaun need to step up and make this happen,’ but when a team takes momentum like they took it, it’s hard to get it back.’ The Pistons are a train wreck.”

anyone has a link to mcgradys put back dunk? also #freetayshaun

I wanna see Tay in OKC.

  • JR

Plus Tay, Rip and Big Ben are all passed their primes. “lowly toronto raptros” haha.

there was no putback dunk by tmac.. he did have a nice alleyoop that surprised me; it’s on staruday’s top 10 plays on nba.com i believe (might also be friday’s)

    excuse me, *saturday*

  • riggs

thanks hisham, also tayshaun isnt passed his prime he’s still putting up good numbers but its for a bad team.

  • D-Block

I feel bad for those three. All those years of being elite in the East, then the Iverson/Chauncey trade…

  • Matthew Warawa

Ya lowly toronto raptors? Pistons seem to be a lot more lowly than the raptors at this point they’re a joke!

  • MikeC.

Tayshaun needs a trade to a playoff team. He’s being wasted on a bad team. Any team that focuses on D first would be a good fit for Tayshaun. He’s a solid ball handler for a 3, good shooter, excellent team and individual defender. He’d be a solid fit in Utah, San Antonio, Chicago. Too bad his contract is tough to move.

Good on my raps to pull out the W. On the other note get Tayshaun to a contender, perfect system player.

I had so much faith in Dumars. I assumed that the Iverson trade was all about clearing the books so he could land some major free agents in the summer of 2010. Then he picked up Villanueva and Ben Gordon, which I assumed was a ploy to have good pieces for a sign-and-trade situation, making the Pistons a dark horse in the free agent race. When that didn’t happen, I assumed they would move Hamilton and Prince and pick up some complimentary players. But that doesn’t seem to be happening. Is Dumars asleep?

MAN OH MAN where all the idiots who said the Bulls were stupid for letting Ben Gordon go to the Pistons and that the Bulls would be in the cellar and the Pistons would be elite now???

  • youngmuggsy

I can’t believe they wasted a 23 point game from Big Ben, when are we ever going to see that again?

  • barnabusb

    Or something like that.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

They’re 1 starting point guard away from being a pretty good team.. With the roster they have, it surprises me every year that they cant win a few more games..

  • unrel

those 3.. or at least prince and rip can still hoop.. the only problem.. is that they aren’t and have never been the main guy.. they have no superstar.. or go to guy.. kind of like parker and manu without duncan..

  • Detroit Dave

The Pistons are stuck in this position due to the SALE of the team. Once new ownership is established and Joe Dumars will make a move. He’s probably told right now not to add any additional payroll.

  • AlbanyBaller

What about Tayshaun to the Knicks? for Azuibuike, Randolph and some cap filler. Maybe chuck in a 2nd rounder ………. A better fit for the knicks then Melo I think. Randolph may flourish with a bit more playing time, Azuibuike is a solid rotation player.

  • Michael

^yeah because the Pistons really need more guards on their roster. Gordon,Stuckey,Bynum,Tmac, rip….

  • monkeyball

Tayshaun to the hornets and rip to the bulls

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

safe to say, the basketball graveyard has moved from MSG and taken residence in Auburn Hills…..its so cold in the D

this team is a classic case of salary mis management. rip, tay, ben gordon, charlie villanueva. all not worth their salaries. stupid kuester won’t even start villanueva when the starters are really not that good. yet villanueva still produces off the bench.

  • Michael

The closest thing tp a PG that team has at the moment is tmac…thats sayin something.

  • MikeC.

Paying role players like stars, and paying borderline stars like superstars. Sounds like Isiah is consulting for the Pistons nowadays.

  • bashmo

more minutes for tmac lets goooo

no he does not to go to okc

  • tavoris

do people still really think that Chauncey Billups’ departure is the only reason this team has fallen apart? Get real…
