Amar’e: ‘Nobody’s Afraid of the Miami Heat’

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

Aside from the star power he brings, the statistical production he provides, and the magnetic personality he embodies, Amar’e Stoudemire‘s greatest contribution to the reborn Knicks may be an injection of confidence.

STAT believes in his ability and that of his team to a degree no one was prepared for prior to this season. So far, that faith has been validated through New York’s success on the court.

As they prepare to face the Miami Heat at MSG tonight, in a big nationally-televised matchup, Stoudemire wants everyone to know that there’s absolutely nothing to fear.

From the NY Post:

“We all like big stages, so it’s nothing special,” Amar’e Stoudemire said after yesterday’s practice in Westchester. “Nobody’s afraid of the Miami Heat. We’re gonna play as hard as we can and see what we can do.”

They may not be afraid, but the Knicks will have revenge on their minds — Miami has beaten them twice so far this season, including a laugher on NY’s home floor in December.

As Miami will be without the injured Chris Bosh, Amar’e and the Knicks have reason to like their chances tonight.

Love the attitude Stat, but do your talking on the court with your play. Grab some ‘bounds and play some D! The Knicks looked scared when Miami smacked them at home last month. Time for some get back…Oh yea, D’Antoni has to go. No matter who NY gets in terms of players, he is their biggest weakness. Damn I wish NY had B-Scott.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

“When the moon hits your eye…like a big pizza pie…That’s A’mare!” Oh wait….I was thinking of Dean Martin, who was always drunk, which STAT must have been when he said this. When you get your seat pushed in tonight again, let the press know after the game how it felt to take girthy manhood for the third time while not being afraid of the penetration that comes along with it.

  • http://dfklf.com Jukai

There’s no fear because the Knicks are used to being blown out.

  • zoom

He doesn’t have to be drunk to say he’s not scared of the Heat. It’s not like those dudes are goons. They’re very beatable. In fact, most playoff caliber teams in the league probably feel the same way about the Heat. If the Knicks can beat the Spurs, they can definitely beat the Heat. Stat just need to put half an effort into playing D.

  • the nerve

    im back bichez

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

I’m confused. Amar’e is supposed to be scared? I don’t think any player in the L would use the word ‘afraid’, to describe how they feel about another team.

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

Fine, I’ll just keep submitting comments until the moderators get sick of me. As I said in the previous two posts that magically disappeared, Stat has the right attitude. Now all he needs to do is play D and rebound. How is he drunk by stating that he’s not scared of the Heat? Lebron and co aren’t goons. Most playoff caliber teams feel the same way Stat does. It’s not like the Heat are unbeatable. They are very beatable, and if the Knicks can knock off the Spurs they can beat the Heat. The spurs are mmuch better than the Heat imo.

If your not afraid Amar’e, protect your home floor or take it for the 3rd time like a man instead of foolishness like this.

Amare’:”Nobody’s afraid of the Miami Heat”

Everyone Else: “Nobody’s afraid of the Knicks”

Amare’:”Nobody’s afraid of the Miami Heat” Everyone Else: “Nobody’s afraid of the Knicks”

  • riggs

pretty sure no one outside of sub 500 teams are afraid of the heat.

  • http://www.redraidersports.com Nicolas Fleming

If any NBA team is afraid of another NBA team, then there should be contraction.

  • http://hoopedia.nba.com/index.php?title=Russell_vs._Wilt nbk

its a basketball team, not an army. What is there to be afraid of in the first place? And regardless I’d rather someone not be afraid of me, then cirlce my game on their calender as the day they will have the best game of the season. so i’d rather be on the heat then the knicks

  • tarriq

the only teams to be afraid of are the celtics and the 04 pistons and pacers

  • T-Money

I mean, the fact that he feels the need to mention they ain’t scurred…

  • http://slamonline.com Yknot

    Heat 108 Knicks 3

  • Red Star

@zoom you hit the nail on the head!!

  • burnt_chicken

i find Eboy’s homophobic jeers to be a case of “the lady [that] doth protest too much”.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Basketball wise, is this even a big time game? Maybe when the Knicks were on their win streak (against bad teams), and they had a buzz, but now it’s likely Miami go in and stomp them again, with less fuss.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

AllBall….they won’t stop them without Bosh in the lineup. I fully expect a close game tonight.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Emiddleagedman seems to have an intimate knowledge of the action he is suggesting the knicks will receive tonight.

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

Stat is drunk for not being scared, but it’s going to be a close game? Damn, that’s some real Lebron-like waffling lmao.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Years of experience with your female family members, Tarzanna.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Fair enough E, i’ll be honest when the Heat go through a stretch of playing bad teams I ignore them, as I do with the Lakers/Celtics. I just assumed he would be back by now.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Who the f*ck is scared when they play basketball…unless you’re a pu*sy? Apparently, there are plenty of pu*sies that are siding with STAT that have to “face the bully” as if the Heat or any team that matters really gives a fu*k about the Knicks. Please girls, stick with WNBA game watching.

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

Half a season of the Heat being relevent again and all of the sudden every other team is supposed to be intimidated. Pleeease. I hate the Celts but they are the BEST team in the east BY FAR. Talk to me about the Heat after they’ve actually done something significant after May. I’m not on here bragging about the Knicks but I’m not about to act like the Heat are anything but another beatable team in the league. I don’t care what the Lebron/Heat groupies say.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Who claims that anyone should be intimated by them? Only someone that is would say it out in the open.

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

Pretty sure the guy was asked something concerning the mood of the team leading up to the game. I’m certain he didn’t conduct his own interview.

  • Cameron J

Honestly I swear Eboy must have cast iron kneecaps as much as he stays blowing his boys from Miami.

Wade is also out right? With, um, “migraine headaches”. Right.

  • JTaylor21

This is for all you “experts” that claim that Bron doesn’t have a back to the basket game; “This season, James has scored points on exactly 50 percent of his 56 post-up plays that resulted in a shot attempt or foul, according to Synergy Sports. Last season, that number was 58 percent. In fact, no player in the league with a minimum of 100 shot attempts in the post generated a higher point of possession on post plays than James did in 2009-10. Bosh ranked second, with Dirk Nowitzki, Zach Randolph and Tim Duncan rounding out the Top 5″. I’m not saying he’s McHale in the post but act like he struggles to post up is foolish, the only problem is that he doesn’t post up as much as he should. Where 25yr old Kobe and MJ posting up?

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

How is this news? They aren’t supposed to be afraid are they?

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Only person in the league I know aint scared is derrick rose . He never wanted lebron or wade , juts bosh . And his mentality is Don’t join em Beat em lol . Go bulls

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

I’m not afraid of the Miami Heat. So he’s at least 1/6,000,000,000,000 correct.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Ugh, 3 too many zeroes cuz

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Who cares about the Heat anyway, Lebron and Wade hurt their careers in the long run by playing together so THE HEAT ARE SCARED OF LOSING IN ANY ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS, thats the real question. I hope the Heat flame out in the playoffs BAD and Dwade understand Chi was his town and Lebron realize NY was his town. DUMMIES!!!

  • Jay Reyes

ooohhh… here comes the Miami Heat PR people!!!

  • fnom11

Knicks are garbage barely .500 and only beat the heat because he have no legit PF, and that win was luck.

  • http://youtube/use/Uncle05Sam Earl

    Good call eboy hehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

How do only 5 players score for the heat? That has to be some kind of record.

  • JTaylor21

This one-on-one basketball BS has to stop. The day I become richer than bill gates is probably the day Mia runs some 2/3 PnR.

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

@fnom11: Wah wah wah, take the L and keep it moving. A win is a win just like a loss is a loss. The Heat have lost 4 of 5. You don’t see Knick fans talking about how garbage they are. The only time you can tell whether a team is garbage or not is during playoff time. So stuff it, chump.

  • fnom11

@zoom 24-21 compared to 31-14 while the last 4 losses we have had our best players injured? Seems comparable, the Knicks would probably be good without Amare…..oh wait theyre bad with him

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

Your best players weren’t injured at the start of the season, you know, when they s*cked. Besides, a team player with one very good player, (the Knicks have no superstar), beating a team with two superstars is pretty good in my book. As a Knick fan I love him but he and his ‘bad’ team are maybe a couple players away from contention. The Heat have two superstars, one very good player, and a decent supporting cast and they STILL aren’t given the same respect as Boston,LA, and the Spurs–for good reason. The Heat practically have the same record as Chicago. The Bulls have 3rd year point running the show nearly by himself, soooo I wouldn’t brag about records if I were you.

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

Typo: *a team playing with one very good player…

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

Great call by Eboy on the Heat/Knicks tonight.

  • MikeC.

    Ball don’t lie.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    Apparently not! KNICKS baybay!

  • fnom11

@zoom 2-1 and the only loss was without a PF, also your team is barely about 500.

  • riggs

and your team just lost 5 of their last 6 games so your point is

  • wilz

    Eboy fled the scene…surprising!

  • dubb100

I can’t belive how many co$k smokers there are on the heat. Amare would bit$h slap anybody on the heat. Carmelos going to the knicks to win a ring. A national championship usa gold medal and a ring. Something labit$h wade cant do. SUCK IT! Heat wont ever do nothing with Lachoke on the team. He gives up when it matters most like a little bit$h boy. hes no true king. hes all talk. All the hype in the league and never did anything. Wade would have never one a ring without shaq so hes nothing special either. Kobe and Carmelo should team up if he dosent go to the knicks (which he will) and shtt on the heat. BUMS!!

  • dubb100

When I say nothing special I mean put shaq on the nuggets and there winning that championship. Wade is just like Carmelo. Watch Carmelo win that championship with shaq. I see that very easy. Actually I like carmelo swag, play style, attitude, clothing line, sneakers deameanor basictly every thing about Melo is better. bro donates 3 million dollars to somebody. Thats not chump change. but you would never know that with all the do gooders and political correctness on tv. Most of those yuppies couldnt play basketball so they should stfu.

  • hobbes

the angry dubb has some points

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Yep, Bron sure was hurting the Knicks in the post last night Jt.
He was also doing his best D Rose impression. Bron 4 MVP.

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

Tarzan – nah, long scale billions are all the rage, bro.
Watched the Heat/Knicks game. The Heat are utterly miserable when they aren’t running. Terrible.

  • DeeDre

Big props to the Knicks last night. If they hit their 3′s like they normally do they probably wouldve won by 10+. Big thumbs down to the Heat, aside from Wade who was red hot…until the 4th quarter when it kinda matters. And Lebron James….you practically know when he’s about to try to take it in because he’ll just hold the ball for 3 seconds or more. I wanna see them try that against the Celtics and i think we can guess what the final score would be :)

  • Ryan D.

The Rooster was clucking last night!!! Get it innnnnnn.

  • Gman

dubb. ur a funny guy. Joel anthony will just poke Amares eye and its done.

say what u want people…Bosh matters on this team.

Fnom11: We don’t have a C (Amare in NOT a C), a sg, a sf, or a back-up pg. What loser actually argues and makes excuses for a loss? Oh yea, YOU! Lmao

Don’t be scird! Hahaha…. Can’t wait for the 2nd half of the season (after the all star break). Homecourt during the playoffs is gonna be critical for a few of the top teams. See ya’ll in LA-LA
LAND for All Star Weekend, gotta get away from this Germany snow for awhile.

  • http://www.facebook.com BlackPhantom

Hey Zoom, Landry Fields aint too bad, he’s a hybrid(kinda)

  • Feez22

And the heat still don’t have an offense… After all these games. I’d like to know what spo coaches in practice… Bc it sure isn’t an offense. All the isolations they run have to piss heat fans off the heat pretty much make sure the whole defense keys in on 1 player. Ya they have bron wade and bosh but Isos like this vs the celts usually don’t work. I bet the heats playbook is 1/4 of a page long and half of that are Isos. Lebrun had a horrible game in the post… But hey that’s the first time I’ve ever seen him down there for that much posessions if he develops even a decent post game there would be nothing the defense could seriously do to stop him.

  • http://slamonline.com zoom

@ BlackPhantom: He’s the best Knicks draft pick in years. Gallo was picked too high imo. Definitely shocked by him. Pleasant surprise this year.
