Caron Butler’s Season Could Be in Jeopardy

An MRI exam will determine the fate of Caron Butler and his injured right knee, but according to the media in Dallas, things aren’t exactly promising. From the Morning News: “Caron Butler did not get back to Dallas in time Sunday to get his injured right knee examined. Early indications, however, are that the Mavericks small forward has at least a partial tear of the patella tendon in his right knee, a source close to Butler said. The full extent of the injury suffered Saturday night at Milwaukee will not be known until he has an MRI exam. Such an injury could jeopardize a major portion of the season for Butler, and perhaps all of it. That would be a horrific blow to the Mavericks’ high hopes for this season and a torturous break for a player who will be a free agent after this season. Butler was averaging 15 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 45 percent. After a slow start, he’d been particularly sharp in December, averaging almost 17 points. ‘He’s been playing his best ball lately,’ said Dirk Nowitzki. ‘We just got to stay positive somehow.’ It’s going to be a tough blow to overcome, no matter how long Butler is out. His toughness was as much an asset as his stats.”

Well there goes the Mavs chance at making it to the finals this year and it looks like LA’s dimming hope of making it back to the finals just got a little brighter.

i hope they give their rookie some chances to start dominique jones can score and is a solid defender i think he might be the right type of youth required on a veteran team like that if he can step up

Hopefully it won’t be as bad as it sounds. I am at least trying to be positive. I agree that Jones needs to see more time now that he has been recalled from the D League. The Mavs have depth but I’m not sure they have anyone capable of filling the void left by this injury. If recent games are any indication the Mavs are going to play small with 3 and 4 guard lineup’s for the foreseeable future.

Well, you can add him to the list of injury plagued players killing my fantasy teams lol. He joins the likes of Brandon Jennings, Brandon Roy, Chris Kaman, Chris Anderson( He’s back, but I doubt for long) and god knows how many other players I’ve had to rotate because of injuries. I’m gonna stop getting players named Brandon or Chris haha, seriously though I hope Carons case isn’t as bad as it looks. Send him here to Phoenix so the miracle workers can get at him lol.
