DeMar DeRozan Replacing Brandon Jennings in Dunk Contest

The injury risk is too great for Jennings to take part in the exhibition, so his good buddy DeMar will take his place. NBA.com reports: “While Jennings is on track to return to the Bucks’ lineup within the next two weeks, the risk of re-injury while practicing for and participating in the dunk contest apparently caused the player and the Bucks to reconsider his involvement, sources said. A league spokesman declined to comment Wednesday and information on Jennings’ likely replacement could not be confirmed. However, the NBA announced Thursday morning that Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan – the runner-up in last year’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest — will replace Jennings this year in Los Angeles.”

Ugh. Just announce Blake as the winner already.

  • James Wrethman

as much as i love demar derozen i still wanted to see how brandon jennings would go this year, everybody doubted him.

  • Ryan D.

This dunk contest might turn out to be semi decent with this turn of events. B. Jennings is nice but him in the dunk contest was a bad choice. Hopefully, B. Griffin rips the rim off the backboard throws it into the crowd then eats a small child. That will make this one memorable.

Now Blake may actually have some competition.

It was a horrible idea from the Get go. He was injured to start, when have you herd of a player thats been injured all year invited to participate in anything

Thank you!!!!! jennings Had no business what so ever being in the dunk contest. I scoured youtube for even 1 impressive dunk from jennings and could not find one. Now if we can get ibaka and Mcgee replaced we will be on our way.

i wanted to see a pg represent

  • barnabusb

Good for DeMar. Young guys shouldn’t give up after one year in the contest. Keep competing while you’ve still got some hops and hope the experience of already being in the contest once will give you an advantage.

good shout on Terrico White, dude got some springies

Shout out to Demetrius “Hook” Williams, best dunker ever under 6 foot and maybe best dunker of all time, go watch his documenary on his life. He was Dunking over cars, motorcycles and people before VC, was showing up for his UNC graduation ceremony.

  • youngmuggsy

@The Seed – That’s exactly what we need, another chance to see Shannon switch the ball from one hand to another in unspectacular fashion. Or maybe an ordinary two hand dunk to send the crowd really crazy.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

@youngmuggsy: Kobe would work with Shannon, but Shannon can do all VC old dunks and win.

  • http://www.redraidersports.com Nicolas Fleming

Can we invite Jamario Moon back, too? How about we replace all of them with Brittney Griner. Now that would be exciting. And when will Darrell Armstrong get a chance to redeem himself?

  • youngmuggsy

@The Seed – Shannon jumps super high and puts the ball through the hoop in an efficient manner. No flair and no tricks, he’s the Tim Duncan of dunkers. Awesome player but not a contest dunker.

Having Kenny The Jet as a dunk coach for Blake Griffin is like Justin Bieber giving Andre Bocelli singing lessons….
