Indiana Pacers Send Coach O’Brien Packing

When a team falls apart, someone always has to go — usually the coach. The Indy Star has more info: “Jim O’Brien’s three-plus seasons as the head coach of the Indiana Pacers ended today when Larry Bird, the team’s president of basketball operations, officially announced the firing at a 4 pm press conference at Conseco Fieldhouse…. Assistant Frank Vogel will be the team’s interim head coach until a full-time replacement is selected, after the season concludes. “We let Jimmy go today,” Bird confirmed. “I want to thank him for his three and a half years of service. He’s going to be missed but we move on. Our players understand we’re trying to do all we can to get back on the right track.”

there’s no need to blow up anything else! the pieces are in place, they just need a real PF. And I suppose at their depth at 2 and 3 spots the piece that can be used to get that quality beef down low is danny granger. And dunleavy has to go before deadline by any means to get any value for him, the pacers are in a decent position actually, it’s all up to the GM and Larry now.
