Kobe on Nuggets Fans Booing ‘Melo: ‘That’s Stupid’

Let’s just say that Bryant doesn’t agree with the people in Denver booing Anthony. Luckily for ‘Melo, he’ll have someone to share the boos with during tonight’s game. From the Post: “What about Denver-born, Denver-raised fans – if your favorite player doesn’t want to be on your team anymore … Kobe: ‘Oh please. Don’t give me that (expletive). My first game back when I demanded a trade, they booed the first game and didn’t boo the rest of the way.’ Why did they stop? Kobe: ‘Fans understood that I was going to play hard and compete every single night. They expressed their feelings in the first game and didn’t hear it again.’ When Melo makes shots, they don’t boo, but when he misses, they sometimes boo. Kobe: ‘That’s (expletive). Either you ride with him or you don’t.’ And last night, he scored 35 points and they booed him in the postgame interview (on the court). Kobe: ‘That’s stupid.’”

    I agree.

  • Justin

Wow, Nuggets fans way to make your boy feel the love and help him want to stay. What a joke!

See if he had announced on ESPN that he was taking his talents elsewhere he wouldn’t be getting booed at home games. Just on the road.

  • http://gmail dirty frank

He’s not demanded a trade. He has been up front and honest with the team in order to HELP them. The media and the “fans” are the ones who can’t stop talking about it.

  • tRay

Kobe starting to get like Phil…putting his two cents into everything good sh*t KB24 lol

  • Harlem_World

Wow. If you read down the article Kobe throws a not so subtle ‘bow at Smush Parker. No doubt Kobe can play blah blah blah. But does anyone actually like this guy? He has always come across as an a$$hole to me. I wonder if his dig at the Nuggets fans has anything to do with Colorado? Hmmmm…

  • Bruno

lol at that line about Smush

  • RunNGun

If only Kobe was in Charlotte, he’d STFU.

    Colorado hates NBA players.

  • Logan

Kobe is at a point where he can say pretty much what he wants. When he stops collecting rings, people can start asking him to shut up…till then you gotta hear whatever he got to say…..plus its not like he said something wrong

  • Mvp23100

With a name like Logan I expect you to say some gay sh*t like that

  • tRay

  • Fat Lever

Because it’s not like Kobe’s done anything before in Colorado to draw the ire of the Nuggets fans.

  • toinefan88

Lol @ the Smush Parker comment. I heard Smush talk shit about Kobe after he got traded in an interview on MSG. I wonder what happened with those two.

    That’s fans. Fickle bastards.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I don’t like Kobe, but dude keeps it real. No more of that BS playing around, biting his tongue to be loved. He is just gully these days. If he hadn’t been such a sucker early on, and didn’t seem like he despise most mere mortals, I would be a fan.

kobe should stfu up and mind his business. It was fine for everyone to hate Bron when he wanted to leave his team full of scrubs. Melo actually has a ton of talent around him and can’t do anything with it!!! Plan and simple, fans have a right to boo whenevr they choose to and these spoiled athletes need to deal with it.

co-sign Allenp. Kobe’s been a good elderstatesman of late… I still dislike the Lakers.

I think that the fan/player relationship should be one of mutual respect.
And, mutual respect means carrying yourself with dignity even when you don’t agree with the other parties decisions.
Ultimately, in my opinion, fans have been encouraged to invest a ridiculous amount of devotion into teams and players, which turns into ridiculous animosity when the relationship turns sour. If people were either less devoted, or more intelligent about their devotion, you wouldn’t see some of this rancor.

I like Kobe a lot better now that he knows his career isn’t forever anymore with those knees. He’s still the same guy, he just mans up to his bs. Not that this was bs…

  • robb

Someone asked him about it and he answered. Why shouldn’t Kobe answer a question? Too many stupid people here today.

    Carmelo will be fine

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

The Melo situation kinda proves that LeBron had no “good way” to go about leaving. Melo basically gave Denver a heads up so that they could prepare for his departure and people are still hating him

  • http://slamonline.com SWIFTboy

If your gf you loved gave you a heads up 1 year before she broke up with you would it make you feel any better? They love Melo, don’t want to see him go, and are now turning jealous/crazy.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

The fact that you compared the player/fan relationship with an actual romantic relationship is the perfect example of how screwed up this whole thing is.
    Think about it.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Also, why does Kobe curse so much in interviews these days? Does he think that’s cool or something? Does he really talk like that all the time? Loser. lol.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Allen is right about fan/team relationship. …….. And lobe is cussing alot cuz he thinks its cool and he wants to be like kg.

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

SWIFTboy needs somebody to love him.

  • Jer Boi

he’s right and I’m a Nuggets fan. don’t know why people booing him.

  • Chazz Michael Michaels

can’t blame the fans…. melo is toying with their emotions

  • LakeShow

Melo has had good and bad times in Denver. The Nuggets have made it deep into the playoffs cus of him. My LAKERS just kicked their but everytime. If your sick of your job and never gettin ahead, wouldn’t you wanna leave if you could too?

  • ciroqobama

I will be booing both Melo and Kobe tonight.

  • wtf

    kobe is absolutely right

  • showtime323

kobe sticking up for melo i think he see’s a young kobe in him and is tryin to be like a big bro to him

  • http://thetroyblot.com Teddy-the-Bear

I know all of Biggie’s lyrics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dar

I’m pretty sure Kobe is just retaliating a remark from Smush awhile back after he was waived by the Heat or something. When asked how it was to play with Kobe, Smush replied, ‘overrated’..

  • Justin

robb, there’s too many stupid people here everyday and they say the same thing. “This person needs to stfu, that person is always spouting off…”. And like you said, he’s being asked a question so he answered it. Why do people have so much trouble with that concept?

  • Justin

At least tomorrow you won’t be seeing Kobe retract his statement with some sort of Lebronism about not knowing what was being asked or “people are always looking to question the things I say”.

  • Omar

Bean Bryant is point as usual and Melo has never publicly said he wants to leave. He actually has said that he may stay in Denver, good luck with that now.

  • Choc

Kobe the basketball player is great, but personality-wise he s*ucks donkey balls, like Justin.
