Polladaday: Carmelo to the Knicks?

As the Knicks (most likely) consider putting together a package of young guys and Draft picks to try to pry Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets, we can’t help but wonder: Is it worth it? Chances are it’ll cost them some combination of Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Landry Fields, Anthony Randolph and/or others. Assuming he could, should Donnie Walsh pull the trigger?

Should the Knicks trade for Carmelo?

Melo is salivating to come to NY, just wait till next year cuz he’ll be worth the wait Knicks fans.

Even if the Knicks were able to get Carmelo and CP3 to play alongside Amar’e that combo STILL is NOT better than Wade, Lebron, and Bosh…especially when the Knicks have a coach who doesn’t believe in defense.

Carmelo Anthony is a good player, but he’s not GREAT.

Will the Knicks play with 8 guys then? I don’t think it’s worth it, because they could become a serious contenders with all this young talent they have.

The only thing in the way is that collective bargaining agreement. I hope it works out and we can sign him outright without losing anyone.

I know it’s a risk for them waiting on him, but if he can come there without them having to give up a lot of pieces, then that’s the best thing.
He comes to a stacked team that since they didn’t trade away half of the team, they have a lot of flexibility to cover up the holes and become Championship Contenders right away.

why wouldnt it be worth it? they aint gonna get nowhere with just amare carrying the whole load. they need another superstar if they wanna even think about seriously contending

I am against trading Wilson Chandler even in a Melo trade they can have Gallo, Fields, and Randolph. Gallo and Fields can play and Randolph is a prospect. Good enough.

No. Wait ’til the end of the season and sign him outright. Keep your trade chips to fill holes and replace D’Antoni with a coach that is willing to invest in some defense.

definitely. The Knicks are a competent team as is…but they aren’t built to go deep into the playoffs- I don’t even know if they are built to get out of the first round. If they have title aspirations this year, then this is the move to make.

I don’t think a lot of yall know just how deadly a combo of Amar’e and Carmelo is….

I would say for the Knicks to wait to trade any of these players now and trading a player like Laundry Fields would be stupid. I think Denver is asking to much in return for Melo I think this is also making Carmelo feel special this is the Sequel to Lebron Descion.

    Melo belongs in NY.

If I’m the Knicks I don’t trade for Melo, only because I don’t think he’s signing an extension anywhere else. Why trade Gallo, Fields and Chandler when Melo will definitely sign with you in the off season. Also I don’t think Landry Fields is as good on any other team, he’s great at moving off the ball and a decent shooter and while he is a excellent rebounder for a guard, part of the reason that he gets so many rebounds is that the Knicks need him to do that. Turiaf is their only other good rebounder and you don’t want him on the court for more than 15-20 minutes a night.

    melo,raymond,amare/greater than lebron,wade,bosh

@Zibala37, I like that thinking bro

just a question of whether management wants a shot at the chip now, or whether they don’t mind letting it brew till next year

This poll though looks like it’s going to be irrelevant now though
