Post Up: Nuggets Cruise

And…yeah, that’s it.

by Adam Figman | @afigman

Denver 121, Indiana 107

With the ever-swirling trade rumors hitting a (very appreciated) lull the past few days, the Denver Nuggets, or more specifically, Carmelo Anthony, should now be able to put that nonsense to the side and focus on, you know, basketball. Behind Melo’s 36, the Nugs came out strong and went on cruise control during the middle two quarters, defeating the Pacers with ease. Denver has now won five of seven (with the two losses coming at the hands of the elite: the Spurs and the Lakers), while Indiana has been sliding the opposite direction, dropping their fifth straight last night. For the Pacers, Tyler Bro-Hands put up a 27 and 10 double-double, while Paul George dropped a respectable 17 points.

Actual Stats: Carmelo Anthony: 36 points, 8 rebounds, 6 three-pointers, 1 assist, 1 block

Moment of the Night: No reason to avoid the truth: Everybody was watching football yesterday. It’s all good. Pigskin fans get one more day in a couple weeks, and from there out it’s all hoops everything, just the way God intended. Anyway, Packers-Steelers. Early predictions?

The first game was the last game last night. But it won’t be hoops everything soon, because baseball season starts and all the sports media will be focused on spring training. Basketball gets little love in the media.

Not even basketball can bring a smile to this disappointed face this morning.

    Steelers.

Would it be wrong to say Big Ben ra*ed the Jets too?

  • http://twitter.com/smileyoufckers Bryan

    Eboy: no.
    Riggs: stick to basketball.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Shia, you straight this morning? You were in full rege mode last night on FB.

  • http://twitter.com/smileyoufckers Bryan

Several people got deleted. I’m shell shocked a little bit. Very bitter because I feel like even though we played awful in the first half, we were one awful call away from winning. But overall I’m optimistic about next season. Also sad because my mom is leaving today.

  • MUBWAR

baseball sucks anyway. Melo is finally doing some dirt and taking care of business instead of acting like Bosh and James.

  • http://www.twitter.com/hurstysyd Hursty

eboy, I’ve never understood why you called Bryan ‘Shia’? He looks nothing like the actor, who’s the only Shia I know of. ‘please explain’ *Kath voice from Kath and Kim*

  • http://twitter.com/smileyoufckers Bryan

An old picture I had on myspace apparently looked like Shia. After I was found to not look like him, the name just stuck.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

At one time, back in the ancient days when there used to be something called MySpace, Bryan had a profile picture which resembled the great Shia Lebouf (he was in some shadow and his looked darker than it really is) and I ran with it. This was about the same time Transformers was released so it fit. It stuck though. Other longtime commenters still call him Shia today.

    There you go.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    *his hair

  • http://twitter.com/smileyoufckers Bryan

Holly calls me Shia on twitter to this day.In the rare instance she responds to me.

  • http://www.twitter.com/hurstysyd Hursty

Yeah.. I remember others calling you Shia back in the day. When Tad, Bet, Coco etc would comment regularly on Holly’s Post Up. She’s got like 10K followers now, it’s crazy. I had myspace too. All 7 friends on it, including the mysterious ‘Tom’ (Sidenote, I used it once. Was too complicated, gave up and got FB 3 days later. That was about 4 years ago. Meaning I’ve wasted far too many hours of my life refreshing the news feed lol).I wonder if Tom’s got facebook now. Or if he’s too resentful of the new networking sites around.

  • http://twitter.com/smileyoufckers Bryan

Not only does Tom have a facebook, you can now link your myspace to your facebook.

Im just going to be naked for the rest of the day so that way it will make up for the lack of basketball sexy in the entire world last night.

  • http://www.b-ballistics.com Darksaber

    Keep your head up, SHIA.

  • http://www.google.com/news BETCATS

And this entire time i thought BryShian was a Giants fan. I guess it is whatever apple is ripe for you?

  • http://twitter.com/smileyoufckers Bryan

Never a giants fan. Thanks Dark.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-confidential/2011 Diesel

Everyone be thankful you’re not a Bears fan like me and had to watch your third string quarterback try and lead you to the promised land, while your starting quarterback is being compared to Lebron today…and not in a good way.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

    Co-sign Diesel.
And all you old-school Slam commenters on here, the mini-lovefest on here is heartwarming. Really. I’m holding back tears….

Dont hate us ’cause you aint us.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

No hate, kid. Just f*cking with y’all.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Diesel, are you actually from the Chicago area? I thought you just like the Bulls but were from somewhere else, but I see you’re a Bears fan also.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-confidential/2011 Diesel

Yeah Enigmatic I’m from Chicago. Born and raised so I support most Chicago teams. I moved to a north suburb, Harwood Heights about 3 years ago.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Oh, that’s near Elmood Park, right? I grew up waaaay out in the northwest suburbs in Carpentersville.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

    Are we talking Chicago again?!
Just playing, but don’t you get bored of watching them beat up the Central?
Tonight against the Bucks will be more of the same.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-confidential/2011 Diesel

Yeah its close. Slightly north of Elmwood Park. I have family in Palatine so I know where Carpentersville is. You weren’t too far out there.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Diesel – I went to Harper College in Palatine for two years after getting out the military. Small world.
AllBall- yes and no. Always good to see how far in the division standings we are. But I expected at least the Bucks to put up more of a fight.
And you must be pretty happy with the way the Hornets played last two games?

  • http://sjdfklfsl.com Jukai

It’s pretty crazy, I’m a Giants fan, but I’d always thought I’d be happy for the Jets if they ever made it far in the playoffs.
    Nope. I didn’t really feel a thing. I think it’s Rex Ryan.
Still, for the first time yesterday, I was rooting, DECKED out in green, for the Steelers to lose. Actually I was hoping a meteor would crash into R@pethlisberger and the Steelers coach would get on fire.
It didn’t happen. And the Jets lost.
So I guess Jets fans can blame me for letting this happen.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Yeah, has any team in the 6 division era ever gone undefeated in the division? I thought the Bucks would be better, and Indiana after their good start.
No doubt, they played great in both, i’m hoping they blow out the Thunder tonight, go into 4th place in the West. A 4th place finish is possible for them, if Dallas don’t figure things out I think it is probable.
nbk, You still think that they won’t make the play-offs?

  • http://www.slamonline.com THE REAL RIGGS

ill rather blame our half-*ssed first half. seriously we couldve scored at anytime during the first half and wouldve won the game. Pitt only scored in the first half!

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I don’t think so, AllBall. Maybe the Celtics back when they first got the big three and the rest of the Atlantic Division were even more horrible than they are now?
I doubt Chicago will go undefeated in the Central though. For one, there’s too many divisional games. Plus even though the Bulls haven’t lost any, it’s not exactly like they’ve been dominating division foes.
They’ve had some close games against the likes of the Pacers and even the freakin’ Cavs.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

Pats need to make some moves on defense, most of the secondary look like they’re attempting to tackle greased-up deaf guy from Family Guy.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Maybe, just checked, they lost in the Division that year. 16 games isn’t too many when they are what, 9-0 now?

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Anton, shout out to an old moniker of mine, greased up deaf guy…. …. Foosball?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Bryan do I have permission to call you Shia as well?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Are there actual carpenters in Carpentersville, Eni? I’m just curious.
