Report: Blake Griffin to Highlight Dunk Contest Field
Numerous media reports place Griffin in this year‘s Dunk Contest, along with a bunch of other guys no one really cares about in such an exhibition (Brandon Jennings, really?): “Clippers forward Blake Griffin, who has become must-see TV because of his slam dunks, will be in the NBA’s slam dunk contest, sources said Tuesday night. Joining Griffin will be Washington Wizards 7-foot centerJaVale McGee, Oklahoma City Thunder 6-10 forward Serge Ibaka and Milwaukee Bucks 6-1 guard Brandon Jennings, sources said. Jennings, who attended Dominguez High in Compton before he finished his high school career at Oak Hill Academy, has a broken right foot and is expected to be out four to six weeks, but he is expected to be healthy for All-Star weekend.”

King Lame…
That is all…
Wonder what the complaints would have sounded like if Bron did participate.
Also Brandon Jennings? Really? He’s light, fast and lanky but his hangtime is average. Also never seen a creative dunk or a posterization since he’s been in the League. (but the MIL fans can shed light on that)
And really, it’s not about him not participating — which seems to be registering with no one because it’s me — it’s his reasons on why.
Wear and tear? Seriously? Gimme a break. That’s never seemed to bother any of the other hundreds of guys who’ve participated in the event.
But the most damning statement — to me at least — was him basically saying that he wouldn’t compete with Blake because of the HCA with All-Star being in LA this year. That was so weak.
He essentially admitted to being scared of the challenge and the competition that Blake Griffin presents.
But him being afraid of challenges and competition and then having people make excuses for it is pretty much the norm these days.
Dominique wasn’t scared of the HCA when he went up against MJ in Chicago in ’88, was he?
He was robbed (a 45 for a 2-handed windmill still boggles the mind), but still, he competed. That’s my whole point.
But somehow, in your Kobehate filled world, never responding to a challenge that was never issued is far worse than committing and then backpedaling and saying that one person has a HCA so you’re not going to COMPETE.
You’re being so hypocritical right now.
And for someone with such a “rock solid” memory, you seem to be forgetting that VC only competed in and won, ONE dunk contest.
He’s probably wishing he did it his first few years now. I’m sure he’ll enter, as soon as the league agrees not to put anyone in the dunk competition that might threaten his winning the contest.
How awesome would it have been to have Blake and Lebron in the same dunk contest? Too bad.
And nice of you to try to ish on Chicago (like you always do) to try and deflect what the REAL subject of the convo is.
This ain’t a courtroom and I’m way sharper than that, homie.
And Russell Westbrook would’ve been in the contest had the NBA not had the dumb idea to let fans vote in the final contestant and had fans not been even dumber and voted Rudy Fernandez in.
You do some research… Or as most lawyers do, find some clerk to do it for you.
&nsbp;
Russell Westbrook? No
Dwyane Wade? No
Derrick Rose? No
Lebron James? Yes
Lebron said he would enter then backed out on his promise.
thats the point, and that hes never entered to this point, Dwade and DRose have never made intentions to enter, while bron has. the quotes dont help his case, wear and tear and HCA just shout hes afraid, Clearly they dont live off the mantra of MJ and Nique and other classic dunkers, “I can accept failure, but I cannot accept not trying”
if Bron had said nothing and not entered, or made no movements saying he wanted to, then it would be fine, it just looks cowardly

I’m not some crazed protester waving an “LBJ Sucks!” sign in that environment. I’m a working professional in that setting and I behave accordingly.
NEWS FLASH: I could care less about what annoys YOU about ME. And when the subject isn’t LBJ, I express myself positively all the time.
Anyhoo, yes, I want to see Lebron in the dunk contest. Yes, I want him on my team. I want DWade, I want Dwight Howard, and I’m glad the team I root for has Kobe and Pau. I think Bryan goes a bit far to call Lebron “cowardly”, but I do think Lebron wants to put himself in a situation where he will have a 90% chance to win, to throw a number out there. But I want to see the hero beat the odds, to climb the mountain, and to be the hero you have to at least try, and you’re going to fail, a lot. The 2010-11 Heat winning the title is not beating the odds. Kobe Bryant in 2004 making it back to the Finals in 2008 and then winning in 2009 is beating the odds.
I’m just here to provide a perspective that differs from that of the masses. You guys really think I’m THAT psycho in my dislike of LBJ?!
In my real life outside of this virtual one, I can promise you that I pay that dude no attention whatsoever.
You guys are the ones that get all worked up over it, not me. You guys are the ones that call me names and say I’m all sorts of weird things, all because I don’t like your favorite basketball player?
And I’m the crazy one?!
Maybe you should check yourselves before you try and check me. I have you dudes eating out of my hand every time I bring his name up and quite frankly, it’s funny to me. It says more about you guys than it does me.
And as I’ve already stated, this topic is about the dunk contest and given the statements that he’s made in regards to it, it’s fitting.
Unless of course the mere fact of me bringing up the comments constitutes as hating?
1. I did not mention the AAU thing and I haven’t in quite a while, let alone week in, week out. So get that straight.
2. Yes, I said LBJ wasn’t “special,” but not TODAY.
3. I QUOTED the man with regards to what he said about his participation in the Slam Dunk Contest. I didn’t “lie” or make any of those things up because if I had, don’t you think that would’ve been pointed out by now?
Look, if you’re too stupid to read my comments and follow along when they’re right there IN FRONT OF YOU and instead choose to bring up things that I said a long time ago as a means of trying to insult me, then the best thing for you to do is not address me at all because — between me and you — I take great pleasure in shredding you. It’s so easy.
Are we clear?
Of course you didn’t notice.
I don’t care if anyone agrees with me, especially not you. That doesn’t matter to me. You came wrong and you got checked. It is what it is, so deal with it, young man.
And LeBron won’t be participating because of “wear and tear” and becasue Blake Griffin “already has home court advantage.”
King Lame… – That was relevant to you? 4th comment of the board and you insist on calling out LeBron? Because the dunk contest said anything about LeBron? If that’s relevant to call out “king lame” in an article that doesn’t mention him and has absolutely nothing to do with him then there’s no reason to argue, your obviously a genius. And that arrogant you got checked bs is pathetic, you checked me how? I got points off for calling you out? I’m off the slam commenter power rankings? lmao your funny
I’m trying to keep things relevant and on topic in case you haven’t noticed. Wait, who am I kidding?
Of course you didn’t notice. Bryan Crawford – (with no mention of LeBron anywhere previously, at all) And LeBron won’t be participating because of “wear and tear” and becasue Blake Griffin “already has home court advantage.”
King Lame… Bryan Crawford -
We’re all defined by something, T-Money. And yes, I’m extremely rational even though in this virtual world I appear to be anything but.
That dude has power.
