Report: Blake Griffin to Highlight Dunk Contest Field

Numerous media reports place Griffin in this year‘s Dunk Contest, along with a bunch of other guys no one really cares about in such an exhibition (Brandon Jennings, really?): “Clippers forward Blake Griffin, who has become must-see TV because of his slam dunks, will be in the NBA’s slam dunk contest, sources said Tuesday night. Joining Griffin will be Washington Wizards 7-foot centerJaVale McGee, Oklahoma City Thunder 6-10 forward Serge Ibaka and Milwaukee Bucks 6-1 guard Brandon Jennings, sources said. Jennings, who attended Dominguez High in Compton before he finished his high school career at Oak Hill Academy, has a broken right foot and is expected to be out four to six weeks, but he is expected to be healthy for All-Star weekend.”

what in the world makes Brandon Jennings even worthy of an invitation to the Dunk Contest? Wtf, he has what 2 dunks his whole career?

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

Uhm, nbk, since you’re perpetually slow, let’s review my comments TODAY, shall we?
    1. I did not mention the AAU thing and I haven’t in quite a while, let alone week in, week out. So get that straight.
    2. Yes, I said LBJ wasn’t “special,” but not TODAY.
    3. I QUOTED the man with regards to what he said about his participation in the Slam Dunk Contest. I didn’t “lie” or make any of those things up because if I had, don’t you think that would’ve been pointed out by now?
Look, if you’re too stupid to read my comments and follow along when they’re right there IN FRONT OF YOU and instead choose to bring up things that I said a long time ago as a means of trying to insult me, then the best thing for you to do is not address me at all because — between me and you — I take great pleasure in shredding you. It’s so easy.
    Are we clear?

huh, besides Griffin this is kinda a let-down. I never really pictured Jennings as a high flyer.. as for Ibaka, he’s athletic but dunk contest athletic? McGee should be intresting though, a guy over 7 foot who can jump out of the building…it will be Griffin vs Mcgee in the finals, but Blake will be the run away winner

thos are called examples. You need me to define example? You ask why people attack you personally (I never ever do that) and your gonna call me stupid, for naming examples of things you have said? Did I said you said those things today? I said you complain about LeBron almost daily (which is true) said you hate on him (you said you didn’t) so i used an example. Your completely ignorant and arrogant the way you talk to people, Lang should fire you or ban you from the comment section for the way you get defensive and butthurt, and insult the readers of your magazine for not agreeing with your filth. Go to sleep bryan, your dreams likely carry more logic then you conscious

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

    Nbk is gettn salty

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

I’m not doing “examples” today, nbk. Nor did I ask for yours. I’m trying to keep things relevant and on topic in case you haven’t noticed. Wait, who am I kidding?
    Of course you didn’t notice.
I don’t care if anyone agrees with me, especially not you. That doesn’t matter to me. You came wrong and you got checked. It is what it is, so deal with it, young man.

And LeBron won’t be participating because of “wear and tear” and becasue Blake Griffin “already has home court advantage.”
King Lame… – That was relevant to you? 4th comment of the board and you insist on calling out LeBron? Because the dunk contest said anything about LeBron? If that’s relevant to call out “king lame” in an article that doesn’t mention him and has absolutely nothing to do with him then there’s no reason to argue, your obviously a genius. And that arrogant you got checked bs is pathetic, you checked me how? I got points off for calling you out? I’m off the slam commenter power rankings? lmao your funny

  • T-Money

nah, bc… it says more about YOU than about anybody else. if everyone had to be defined in these boards, the first thing that would come up for you would be “dude who hates on bron all the time”, even before your love for the bulls, derrick rose or kobe bryant. tell me i’m lying. there’s not one other regular who constantly bash the same player (maybe jtaylor with kobe). it just makes for bad, circular conversation. you may be frontin like you’re not getting it but i know that deep down you’re a pretty rational guy. / jackie moon: #1 jersey, #1 shoe, top 3 asg vote.. i think his popularity is doing just fine (except in msg boards and comments section of course).

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

Like I said, nbk, you’re perpetually slow and a waste of time to continue talking to any further. Enjoy the rest of your day browsing the site.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

We’re all defined by something, T-Money. And yes, I’m extremely rational even though in this virtual world I appear to be anything but.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

your condescending comments are hilarious, not in like an “ohh burn” kinda way, but in a “wait a second, this guy gets paid to write for a living? and thats the best he can come up with? wait isn’t there supposed to be something intelligent in there?” sorta way

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

you just admitted that your irrational after you defended yourself about being relevant and on topic. i hope you realize that

    Bryan Crawford -
I’m trying to keep things relevant and on topic in case you haven’t noticed. Wait, who am I kidding?
    Of course you didn’t notice.

Bryan Crawford – (with no mention of LeBron anywhere previously, at all) And LeBron won’t be participating because of “wear and tear” and becasue Blake Griffin “already has home court advantage.”

    *yawns*

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Wow, even this became a LeBron discussion.
    That dude has power.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

    He’s not the only one…

  • BE.water

WTF, why are dudes posting under my name?

  • Jackie Moon

@t-money – I think his popularity is fine, too. I was only stating what I wish to see from him. He can be who he wants to be, but I’m still going to write my opinion on it. Live your life, LBJ. Long … live .. the KING! hahahah

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

Alright, I know I’m probly jumping in with the sharks here but I’ve gotta side a little bit with Bryan. nbk, I haven’t heard you make a concrete claim against the man beyond, “He brings up LeBron a lot then insults him.” If LeBron is relevant to the topic (it’s the dunk contest so he is) then Bryan can do what he wants. Additionally, I think that LeBron backing out of the contest is worse than Kobe not defending his crown. Is it cowardly? I don’t think so. But nbk, you should learn to argue less angrily and Bryan, you can be condescending at times. Either way, I enjoyed reading these comments.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Wait. I know how to get crawford to stop talking about only bron…. ……. …. Derrick rose sucks, hes a ballhog and nothing special, and noah has reached his ceiling, and couldnt carry rodmans jockstrap. That should do it.

  • LA Huey

“No one man should have all that Power”

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Caboose how is LeBron relevant to the dunk contest? Because two years ago, the day after the contest he said he would compete a year later? That makes him relevant? ANd I will argue with someone who calls me stupid however I want, I did not say anything rude, or insulting to Bryan at all before he said that.

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

It is relevant because of LeBron’s comments made about HCA. And as for you defending, I’d have given you props if you’d gone after Bryans comment with more reasoned points, not pathological assaults. That being said, Bryan’s comment was unnecessary but your response made you sound like the emotional one.

  • Jackie Moon

@caboose What about me? What about me?

  • bravo

demar derozan can dunk better than all the above

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

Haha are you serious Jackie? Sarcasm translates horribly over comments. (Btw, I tend to side with you a lot on this site)

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

the pathological thing wasn’t an insult, I was serious. If Bryan thinks his normal anecdotes on LeBron are not hating then he is a pathological liar. That or stupid, but i’m not one to just call a person stupid and assume they don’t understand the meaning of the words and phrases they are using, that is not my style. And me as a commenter and customer of this company, am allowed to react “emotionally” when an employee insults my intelligence.

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

and bravo, after seeing Derozan last year, he seems to be more of an in-game dunker. I’ll take Blake Gryffindor any day.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Clyde

Brandon Jennings can definitely throw down, but I’d rather he stayed out of the contest since he’ll just be coming off an injury. At least for the sake of my fantasy teams that are already being killed by injuries lol.

  • greg

can someone explain why players who are on good teams avoid this competition, i kno they dont need the money but ive done a dunk contest and i felt fine afterwards

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

I’m not saying you didn’t have a right to go after Bryan, I think most of us here would have. However, I question your method only because it came off as whiny. I do not wholly disagree with the points you made, they just seem to be driven by spite, not by reason.

  • Jackie Moon

@caboose “Sarcasm translates horribly over comments.” Maybe THAT’s why I’m so misunderstood. I has a sad face.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    fair enough caboose

  • Michael

Bryan C please shut up u wack h0mo. Seriously stop talking about bron, When people tell u to shut up they’re not defending Bron they’re just sick of you talking about him, u must never stop thinking about him. Eveyone is tired of hearing the same sh*t recycled for real.

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

Yeah, I got nothing against you nbk (I was reading your MVP predictions and you’re spot on). Happy commenting. And Jackie, I enjoy the arguments you make; they just tend to be pretty safe and side with the majority. But you do make quite good points.

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

And Jackie, I wonder how many fights are started on here because of confusion over sarcasm? Haha

  • Jackie Moon
  • http://slamonline.com nbk

oh I know, I wasn’t taking offense, and good lookin on reasonable responding, can’t stand when people take a disagreement personally

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

Agreed to that nbk, there are many people here who find the need to attack others directly if their favorite player is insulted.

  • Jackie Moon

@caboose probably a lot, because I tend to mock people by using their methods of argument and creating an example using the same method to come to a ridiculous conclusion. Doesn’t usually work. They usually think I am actually making that argument, instead of showing how horrid their logic is. Big surprise, right?

  • Noel

    makelebrondunk.com

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

Haha if you actually got to say that to their face, then it’s a decent strategy. Here, it makes you just sound like a hypocrite, unfortunately. Sad really, because some people here really need to think about their arguments before posting.

  • Drew

Since it’s in LA, Griffin can just do standing dunks by the basket and he’ll take home the trophy. No one else stands a chance.

  • OvaChicken

So the Bron Gang Fends off another nad. Good Work Everybody ! I’m glad the Griffler is aight to go & McGhee should be fun to watch too but they gots to change the rest of the lineup. If you want Griff, Bron & Kobe + anybody else VOTE 4 DA DUNK CONTEST VOTE !!! One !

  • Loaf

Jackie moon I love you, just for having the name jackie moon earns 10 extra brownie points with me hahahaha

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Ibaka’s got hops which enable him to play undersized at the PF spot. This will be interesting since 3 of 4 dunkers are frontcourt, power forward players… aka big men. Jennings has crazy leaping ability btw.

  • the nerve

dacre u rang? i said i wouldnt come back up but i think tha peoplez wanna see “nerve”. ima sensation up here.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Shut up nerve. ……. Teddy, isnt ibaka 6 10? Thats not undersized.

  • Jackie Moon

You love me! You really love me!
