Vince Carter’s Scoring Woes in Phoenix

VC is expected to be the guy piling up points for the Suns, but so far, his body isn’t allowing for that to happen. From the AZ Republic: “Vince Carter said he tried to be a 23-year-old when he ‘tweaked’ his sore left knee on a dunk 2 1/2 minutes into Monday night’s loss at Philadelphia, his only score of the game. He turns [34] Wednesday, and that 23-year-old All-Star phenom is not coming back. The Suns just want back the scoring guard they had until the past four games. The Suns wanted Carter to become their top scorer and take at least 15 shots per game. Instead, Carter just had the lowest-scoring four-game stretch of his 13-year career with 7.5 points per game. He averaged 18.9 in his first 10 Suns games. ‘I plan on being that,’ Carter said of being a go-to scorer, like when he started the trip with 29 points at New York. ‘In my mind, it was a rough trip. It took me outside of what they want me to do and what I feel I should be.’ Carter went 10 for 40 from the field in those four games, drawing shooting fouls just twice. His two-point game Monday and three-point outing a week ago at Cleveland were two of his career’s four lowest-scoring games when he played at least 20 minutes. He took only 12 shots in those two games, with five inside the 3-point arc. ‘It happens sometimes with a team like this where a lot of guys can score and Grant (Hill) and J.D. (Jared Dudley) are playing well,’ Carter said. ‘It’s all about patience.’ … ‘He’s got to be more aggressive, but we’ve got to find a way to get him more involved because he’s the guy that we expect to be our leading scorer,’ Suns coach Alvin Gentry said.”

Vince Carter at this point is nothing more than a scorer. Still can’t believe the Suns made that trade.

Isn’t Vinsanity Kinda the Same way As Hedo, Needs the ball in his hand to score/be effective no?

  • MUBWAR

He left those 23 year old back in Toronto. lool

I realize Steve Nash is a two-time mvp and that vince should move without the ball better. But the suns knew when they traded for him that he was a guy that needed the ball in his hands. Gentry needs to do a better job of getting him the ball in spots he can score. That philly game was brutal, he just sat there and watched nash dribble the entire time.

Stick a fork in him. Wait, no! Don’t, if you do, he might end up with an infection or you might end up breaking something.

Vince has earned his place in the HOF. However, it’s painful to watch him now. Even though you kinda screwed us over in Orlando, we wish you the best.

People, if you got into the Hall of Fame based on how tough you are than Paul Pierce wouldn’t get in either
