Your 2011 NBA All-Star Starters

There are no surprises when it comes to the guys who will start during next month’s big game in Los Angeles. The obligatory Yao Ming inclusion is no longer shocking at this point: “Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, a three-time All-Star MVP, is this year’s leading vote-getter in the NBA All-Star Balloting program presented by T-Mobile with 2,380,016 votes. It is Bryant’s 13th consecutive All-Star selection; only Jerry West, Karl Malone and Shaquille O’Neal, with 14 straight nods each, have more. Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, the second leading vote-getter overall with 2,099,204, paced the Eastern Conference.”

Eastern Conference

F — Amar’e Stoudemire, New York
F — LeBron James, Miami
C — Dwight Howard, Orlando
G — Derrick Rose, Chicago
G — Dwyane Wade, Miami

Western Conference

F — Carmelo Anthony, Denver
F — Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City
C — Yao Ming, Houston
G — Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers
G — Chris Paul, New Orleans

    East starter is all highlights!

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

East will run a lot smoother when Rondo gets into the game.

    ^haters gonna hate

  • MikeC.

^^indeed. Rondo will pass up wide open layups and dunks so that he can pad his assist total. Which I wholeheartedly support in an ASG. Guys like Kidd and Nash should almost be grandfathered into the ASG just so we always have a pass-first PG. Rose will be fun to watch. Hopefully he looks to pass first with all those finishers around him.

EAST starting lineup looks Unbeatable…….Athletic as HELL.

    East 129 West 100

Seriously Yao? This is why some are in favor of not letting fans pick All Star starters.

  • J.C.

Maybe this is some kind of subconscious xenophobia kicking in but I’m starting to really resent Yao starting every ASG simply because his country has a billion people in it. Dude’s been injured for 2 straight years and I know some past-their-prime former stars get voted in on reputation alone, but he’s boring as hell even when he’s healthy.

On another note, how is Dwight not the leading overall vote-getter? Who else is anyone going to vote for at his position?

put Blake Griffin in the center spot and I don’t see the west losing this game

The west obviously has overall better talent since so many deserving guys will be left off the team so I’m not buying the East blowing the West out especially with Griffin on the team.

  • sam

Man I cant wait to see that Yao guy play… Oh wait

  • fruizm

the east should have their line up come out to the “beasts from the east” song by lost boyz!!

  • http://slamonline.com nate

@AllBall yeah but whose starting ? DERRICK ROSE you hater . Lol

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Rose is not gonna come out looking to score 30, AllBall. He ain’t stupid, he knows he can get a ton of assists with that lineup.
I expect Rose to catch a few lobs and throw them down too. Something Rondo could only dream of doing.

rounding out the western conf is going to be tough.. 7 guys to choose.. dwill, odom, chandler, dirk, duncan, tony parker, manu, k.love, blake griffin, nash, westbrook, aldridge, monta.. i’m sure i’m missing a few.. but all are deserving.. they should just have a west vs west.. winner plays the east..

  • uhh

@Enigmatic, catching lobs is something YOU could only dream of doing, Rajon Rondo is very capable in that regard.

  • Oli

@unrel: dirk, manu, dwill & griffin are locks. i’m also very optimistic for westbrook. then it’s either gasol or odom, duncan or parker. then there’s one more spot for yao between “the other” laker and spur, love, aldridge and monta. at least in my book…

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Enigmatic, you know i’m just playing.

  • http://slamonline.com Ghost

So it’s safe to say that Chris Bosh won’t be making it this year with KG most likely backing up the power forward slot?

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

    @uhh – uhh…no.
@AllBall – I got you. Hey, my boy and your boy are both startes! Happiness all around.

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

@Ghost – I think KG and Bosh should both be in it. Hopefully the coaches will agree.

MELOOOOO…. but is it just me or have all star games become alot more boring then they were in the days when Vc, Kidd, Kobe, T-mac etc.. used to run it

  • Justin

@Meloman…no, they’ve been boring for the most part since Magic, Isiah, and Jordan used to run it

  • fariz
