Zach Randolph Receives NBA Community Assist Award

Nice work, Z-Bo! The Memphis Commercial Appeal has the 411: “Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph has not only been a major factor on the basketball court these days. He’s been a force in the community. Randolph received the NBA Cares Community Assist Award for December in recognition of his ongoing philanthropic and charitable work. The league honored Randolph in part for what he did to brighten the holidays for children and families in need. Randolph provided gifts and unforgettable experiences to Memphis residents through partnerships with a variety of organizations, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, and MIFA’s Holiday Hope Chest… As an NBA Cares Community Assist Award recipient, Randolph will receive the David Robinson Plaque with the inscription, ‘Following the standard set by NBA Legend David Robinson who improved the community piece by piece.’ The NBA will also donate $5,000 to the charitable foundation of his choice.”

He has certainly turned his career around. I saw a pic of him in a santa hat this year when he was helping the kids…priceless.

People always speak negative about Randolph but it’s good to finally hear something good about the guy. His work in the community is now shows every that even though you had a bad reputation, you work on the court and off the court, you can be great too. Way to go

That’s the only way Randolph would ever register an assist.

This guy has actually completely repaired his image from scratch. Despite what people previously thought of him it’s impossible to deny his production on the court and now hopefully people will be able to completely forget the Jailblazers days.

Zach Randolph: proof that through hard work and caring, anything is possible. I’ll be rooting for you Z-Bo.

    Good stuff, Zach.
Can anyone remind me, however, why the Jailerblazer days are looked so poorly upon? He was still a 20-10 machine back then…

As we’re all singing Z-Bo’s praises, he is probably punching a hooker in the face. Right now.

Hmmm…he’s in a contract year right? Just saying…

@ Mike C…maybe the hooker was questioning keeping him on her fantasy team?
