Brandon Jennings Unhappy With Limited Minutes

Scott Skiles and the medical staff in Milwaukee are closely (and sensibly) monitoring Brandon’s playing time since his return from foot surgery, but Jennings isn’t a big fan of the program. The Journal Sentinel has the quotes: “A visibly frustrated Brandon Jennings walked off the court in the fourth quarter with the Milwaukee Bucks trailing the Los Angeles Clippers by one point. His time limit was up and he had to go to the bench after playing 17 minutes as he continued his comeback from surgery on his left foot. But it was hard for the 21-year-old point guard to watch the final 7 minutes of the game as the Bucks faded and lost to the Clippers, 105-98, at the Staples Center on Monday night. Jennings hopes he will be able to play closer to a full game Wednesday night when the Bucks face the Phoenix Suns and try to end a 22-game losing streak on the Suns’ home court. Milwaukee has not won in Phoenix since Feb. 21, 1987. ‘It kind of took me out of my rhythm a little bit,’ Jennings said. ‘If I’m going to play limited minutes, I might as well just not play at all.’ Jennings had 12 points and three assists against the Clippers as he played his second game since being out for nearly six weeks. He suffered a broken fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot during a drive to the basket in San Antonio on Dec. 15 and had surgery five days later. It’s not that Bucks coach Scott Skiles wanted to take Jennings out at that point in the game, but Skiles was given a strict 18-minute playing limit by the training staff. Jennings had been on a 12-minute limit when he returned to the court Saturday night against New Jersey. ‘I’m just going with what the medical staff says and how long he can play,’ Skiles said. ‘He did have foot surgery; it’s not just a sore foot. We want to be a little more cautious. He got some good minutes and played a very good game, but he hasn’t played in a long time.’”

I’m no physical therapist but these playing time limits seem hella random.

  • Yep

i’m sure they calculate it using some pretty sophisticated formulas

Brandon; you will always play ‘limited’ minutes. Given that an NBA game is limited to 48 minutes in regulation.
    You can’t beat the system.

2011 is already on pace to break the record for most sports articles using the word “unhappy” in the title.

I saw the head line and thought it should have read – ‘a bear prefers a wooded area in which to defecate’

    is this really news???

For all you know, though, the bear may actually prefer toilets like the rest of us, and only uses wooded areas for lack of a better alternative.
