Breaking: Deron Williams Traded to Nets

Former Jazz point guard heads east.

Nobody saw this coming, but it looks like Deron Williams is moving to Jersey.

UPDATE: The Bergen Record reports the move will send Devin Harris, Derrick Favors and two No. 1 picks to Utah for Williams.

    A Melo/Williams preference depends on how the rest of your roster is built I suppose, but if forced to choose – in general terms – I’d take Deron over Melo. Just.

    The earliest Rose can sign an extension is this summer, I believe.
    And I honestly haven’t watched enough Jordan Hill to really comment on him. I would hate to lose Brewer though.
    He’s such a great energy guy off the bench.

    It looks like Wallace is definitly going to Portland. I’m seeing sites say the deal is done. I’m not 100% sure who Portland is sending back. And Bulls have made it clear that they won’t trade any of their players. If they can’t get someone for draft picks and maybe Bogans, then they won’t make a move… maybe hope to pick up a player getting bought out.

    Celtics and Lakers really messing up the league. First the Boston Big Three, then the Gasol “trade”. Players and teams started to realize they weren’t going to beat either team by going with the status quo. This situation created “the Decision”, and then Carmelo going to NYC. Now Utah knows it has no chance and is blowing up the team. After that, Chris Paul is going to further consolidate the good players into a few teams by going to NYC, perhaps? Madness.

    Thanks for the insight on the Bulls Diesel, didn’t know they weren’t willing to movie any pieces beyond Bogans and those 2 picks. They have Boston’s pick and Toronto’s if i’m not mistaken

    Rip is still owed like 30 million dollars, can’t really buy that out. Tayshun is on 11 expiring, but if Detroit were to buy him out, I’m willing to bet they would just trade him for nothing but like a second round pick, to avoid paying him all together.

    Heard after the trade Utah was really upset with Deron Williams. Don’t know if it’s spin or the truth. Feeling was Utah was happy sending him to a bad franchise like New Jersey. Houston was offering their normal collection of garbage, and Sacramento had a chance with a certain package. But ultimately, Utah wanted to put him in the Eastern Conference.

    All I know is that the Nets have less than a calendar year to find players to build around DWill because of his expiring contract in 2012 and make a run in the eastern playoffs. The odds of the latter are pretty damn low, and when you combine that with the possibility of a lockout the odds drop even further, so I’m going to out on a limb and say the DWill will be in New York for the 2012 – 2013 nba season. CP3 will be in New Orleans or Orlando.

    Now this is a bad trade, Jazz got nothing back in return sorry Harris, bust Favors and two 1st round picks that can be bust. At least Dwill is proven. If Jazz put Deron on the market they get better players in return and one 1st round pick. This makes the Melo trade look like a genius trade.
