Kirk Hinrich to Hawks; Mike Bibby to Wizards

Washington and Atlanta exchanged underwhelming point guards, and both sides tossed in a few other spare parts. The WaPo reports: “The Wizards have traded veteran point guard Kirk Hinrich to the Atlanta Hawks. Two league sources have confirmed that the Wizards are shipping Hinrich and backup center Hilton Armstrong to Atlanta in exchange for guard Mike Bibby, veteran swingman Maurice Evans, rookie guard Jordan Crawford and a first-round pick this summer.”

    Crawford is a good piece to put around Wall, Bibby is a good back-up now. Mo Evans still has something at least. I like the move a lot for the Hawks though. Kirk can play defense, pass first, hits threes and will allow Joe Johsnon to dictate the game more.

    The Hawks remain no better than a 5 seed. The Wiz remain horrible. Great deal.

    Kirk an underwhelming point guard? He’s one of the smartest in the league. He plays spectacular defense and knows how to pass the ball better than most other point guards in the league. I’d take him over Bibby any day. I have hope for Jordan Crawford though.

    Bibby is washed up and Hinrich can play defense, so this is a clear upgrade for the Hawks, but it’s fitting that the Hawks have now sacrificed like 6 draft picks trying to make up for passing on CP3 and Deron Williams and they still don’t have a long term solution at the position. If they would just develop Teague none of this would be necessary.

    DaddySwag: What makes you say that Kir is one of the smartest point guards in the league? And his career assists avg is under 6. Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved for Miami to snatch him but I don’t see what you are basing your argument – besides his skin color, that is.

    Good trade for the Hawks…Wizards still suck, always will if Wall is their best player.

    Great move by the Hawks. Hinrich is better and younger than Bibby.
