Kobe Bryant Willing to Play in Europe?

The NY Daily News claims that one of Kobe’s teammates heard him “threaten” to go play in Europe if he’s not agreement with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Um, okay: “According to one of Bryant’s teammates, the Lakers All-Star recently threatened, ‘I’ll play in Europe’ when they were discussing the potential of an NBA lockout this summer and the ramifications of a new CBA. ‘Kobe understands what the players before him did and he feels a responsibility to do the same to the younger guys,’ said the Lakers player, who did not want to be identified … The possibility of matching and eventually surpassing Jordan will likely keep Kobe in the NBA, but the idea of him finishing his career overseas has some players intrigued. ‘If he goes to play in Italy I will go with him,’ joked Danilo Gallinari, the Knicks’ Italian-born forward. Bryant spent part of his childhood in Italy, where his father, Joe Bryant, played professional basketball.”

@karma it was just a joke. He’s not serious. Just trying to get the whiteheads in the front office nervous

  • Red Star

What is up with the Lakers locker room! Even if it’s true it should have never gotten out! Actually a lot of team are having issues like this now. Why are players feeding the media so much lately. It wasn’t like this back in the day! @karma I hate anonymous sources too! Grow some and give your name! If I were Kobe I would be grilling everyone! This is totally unexceptable!!

It wouldn’t hurt anybody but the NBA if he played overseas. Some foreign team would pay him 25 million to play for them easy. If he went and played there, several dozen stars would follow as well.

If he goes to Europe, I’m going, too. (to watch).

Reminds me of the time LeBron said he’d play over there for $50 mil a year. Sure…

@ Kobe- “I see you driving thru the lane in the game I love, and I’m like- F*** you!!!”

Unless Kobe is a free agent, or the players union dissolves, I don’t think Kobe can play overseas. FIBA recognizes NBA contracts and won’t allow a player to have contracts in multiple leagues.

co-sign Kourtney & Bravo. Everytime I go through Slamonline, E-Boy astonishes me with his continous presence showing a lack of social life and leaving me with a strong suspicion of him never touching a woman.

can we stop this “reach and surpass MJ” bull… Kobe has 2 rings as the leader of the lakers team. The first three belong to Shaq.

  • Art of deception

@redrum it’s not all about rings. If it was then bill russell would be the GOAT. Still jordan surpasses Kobe in almost every category I can think of (except 3 point shooting and longevity)
