Kobe on Lakers Criticism: ‘I Don’t Give a Sh*t’

Due to their lackluster play this season, the Lakers have heard criticism from just about everyone — fans, media, and even former Laker greats like Jerry West and Magic Johnson. Kobe Bryant isn’t trying to hear any of it. ESPN reports: ‘Don’t know, don’t care,’ Kobe Bryant said when asked if the team was being criticized too harshly. ‘People that criticize, they can all kiss my ass. I don’t give a s—. I really don’t. I keep the train moving. We’re gonna keep on moving and in June, they’ll say nothing. For now, it’s good talk.’”

    Man, I’m stating fact. You can criticize all you like. In my state, you’ve got that right…by law. I would never shoot Kobe…stop the silliness (as if that would happen in the real world, please)but down here…if you’re threatened…you can act. Say what you want, but that’s how sh*t goes when you get “old” and tire of throwing hands. I really wasn’t trying to be a fake tough-guy. That’s reality in Florida.

    I don’t get it. But whatever….this was about Kobe and not about some imaginary commenter. Let’s put it like this….would David Robinson, Ray Allen, Tim Duncan, Grant Hill, guys of that “good guy” nature ever approach an interviewer like this? No. Why, ’cause they’ve got “it” like that. Shaq always tries to be funny with his insults if he goes that route. Michael and Lebron had/have a similar style of saying almost robotic responses to the majority of questions they were/are asked. Kobe, back in the day, never was this way…yet in the last season or two has morphed into this type of terse response type guy. It’s forced. If you can’t see it, then you haven’t paid attention to the guy as well as some of you claim to. It doesn’t change the way he plays the game or matters to him in the slightest, but as a perception tool, it doesn’t help to the casual fan who may read it, coming from, supposedly, the games best player.

    There are more than enough words out there that you don’t have to resort to profanity to let someone know you’re angry.
    Quite honestly, it’s just the easy way out.
    But, it’s not like Kobe or anybody else has to care what I think. All combined, Kobe, Shaq and KG have made nearly three quarters of a billion dollars in their careers, so they don’t have to worry about what most people think.
    But, I do find it problematic, and childish. I equate adulthood with abandoning certain behaviors, like using profanity in general conversation to make a point.

    Allen, I agree to a point. It is childish and I try not to curse in casual conversations because it hints at stupidity. But I also hoop probably 3-5 times a week and I don’t think I’ve ever been pleasant on the court. After a game, a player still has that built up animosity and although they should keep their cool and realize it’s just another interview, sometimes people are people.

    Kobe swears when he is pissed just like the rest of us! He typically down plays things to the media meanwhile he is stewing inside. When he gets asked the same question too often or the time isn’t approprate he’ll lose it! This is the Kobe I’ve come to know love! When he has that scowl look on his face watch out because he’s out for blood!

    The Seed…how can you say don’t listen if you don’t know the language is coming? Look people, it’s about being professional. The dress code, the not swearing in interviews and all that, it’s all part of it. Michael Jordan didn’t allow reporters in until he had showered and was back in his suit. That’s how it should be. These gangsta wannabes look ridiculous in their sweats or jeans and a hoodie. As for the language, they should be cognizant of the fact that kids are watching and do look up to them. Obviously sometimes people slip and catch themselves, but when it’s “I don’t give a sh*t”, he’s doing it on purpose

    All of you can like and dislike whoever you so chose and for whatever reasons. None of you are playing NBA Ball. You see people and hear people every single day using profanity. Do you call any of them out and say all that you say about Kobe. Who hasn’t used a word of profanity in their lifetime or thought about it or used it in a whisper?
    Most kids use profanity better than any adults I have ever heard. By the way, Who decided what words were profanity and what words are not. I remember when the word GAY meant you were HAPPY. How do we know Shirt shouldn’t be a bad word? But if you leave out the R we got a profanity word, who decided that?
