Mike Bibby Seeking Buyout?

According to the WaPo, Bibby’s agent plans to seek out the possibility of a buyout from the Wizards: “Bibby has shot just 1-for-9 in two games with the Wizards, but there is a chance — albeit slim — that he may not be around much longer. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, Bibby’s agent, David Falk, plans to meet with Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld on Monday to discuss a possible buyout. The person requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the negotiations. The two sides have had preliminary discussions, according to two league sources, but no formal proposals have been made. Bibby makes $5.8 million this season and is on the books for $6.4 million next season. Bibby would have to sacrifice a lot of money and get waived by Tuesday in order to be eligible to join a playoff team this season. Portland, Miami and Boston are reportedly interested in signing Bibby if he can reach an agreement. Grunfeld has said he wouldn’t close the door on any situation as it relates to a buyout. According to a league source, the Wizards tried to move Bibby again, almost immediately after acquiring him from the Hawks, but were unable to get anything done before the trade deadline. Bibby, who turns 33 in May, was upset about being dealt from a playoff contender in Atlanta to a lottery team at the trade deadline. Bibby expressed his disappointment on Friday about not being informed of his involvement in the deal until shortly before he was swapped — along with Maurice Evans and Jordan Crawford — in exchange for Kirk Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong.”

I don’t blame him. Nobody want to play for my Wizards let alone Flip “can’t coach” Saunders.

    Bibby’s D would give Doc a stroke.

He’d actually be a good fit with the Lakers. All they need their PG to do is stand in the corner and shoot 3s.

I dont think miami would want him. chalmers is a pesky defender and it would make eddie house go all rip hamilton on them. Lakers would be good because they dont need perimiter D because their frontcourt looks like it came from space jam

  • Riggs

why would boston want him, he’s too slow.

I think he’ll sign with Miami, Bibby’s brother-in-law Eddie House will have impact on his decision.

Not getting bought out, unless he’s willing to give up 8-9 million. The Wizards got him so that they can flip him into another 1st rounder next year, the same way they did Kirk Hinrich. The money wasn’t really thew issue to begin with. It his expiring contract next year that has the value.

Now that he’s been bought out….let the wondering begin.

This would be a GREAT pickup for Miami. A dude who can actually score at the 1…even tho it may not be neeeded. I love Bibby on the Heat, he can pass, shoot, drive and make a play. Solid player. He’d have to take a pretty big pay cut tho. Sucks.
