Mike D’Antoni Wants ‘Melo Chants to Stop at MSG

Whenever the Knicks are stinking up the joint at home, the fans start have begun chanting for Carmelo Anthony. This, evidently, does not sit well with head coach Mike D’Antoni. ESPN has the quotes: “Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni sent a subtle message to fans on Thursday: Stop chanting for Carmelo Anthony; it’s affecting my players. The Knicks coach said the Garden crowd’s chants of ‘We Want Me-Lo’ on Wednesday night had a negative impact on some the Knicks during their loss to the Clippers. ‘It’s not good. There’s no doubt about it,’ D’Antoni said. ‘It affects some of the players without a doubt.’ Knicks fans started the ‘We Want Me-Lo’ chant with about six minutes to play in the third quarter of the Knicks’ 116-108 loss to the Clippers on Wednesday. The Knicks trailed by 16 at the time. The chants continued in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach.”

cause eerbody wants Me-Loooooo. Have you guys seen what he did to the Mavs last night?

I agree with Mike on this one. Its a chance that they might not get Melo and you dont want the fans to get low morale and start downing the team everytime theyre losing. And you dont want the players to start to believe they cant do without Melo and start losing confidence. The Knicks need support from fans at this point more than ever, and those chants aren’t helpin

Finally, something we can agree on! I’m not a fan of “D’An-No-D” but damn these ain’t real Knicks fans these are some type of fair weather, cry like a baby, emotional “we want Bron” fans. I’d love to see Melo in NY (even if it doesn’t work out) but there’s no way I’ll disrespect my team like that. If we get him, we get him. If not, keep it moving.

Did O’Antoni forget where he coaches? It’s New York City! Where the fans and media have no problem chewing you up and spitting you out if you don’t perform to their standards.

If Mike D’Antoni doesn’t like the chants then he should tell management to get the deal done already! The fans are not going to stop chanting for Melo anytime soon and nor should they!!!

  • CARTEL

To hell with what D’antoni is saying and anybody that agrees…The fans pay good damn money to be at a Knick game and they have the right to say whatever they damn well please…how about him not worrying about the fans chanting and get his team on track…if they play well then all the chanting will stop…PERIOD…
