Nuggets Aiming for Homecourt Advantage

Despite the major roster shakeup at the trade deadline, George Karl still has lofty goals for his ballclub. From the Denver Post: “It’s understood that the Spurs, Mavericks and Lakers will (likely) be the top three seeds, but George Karl believes that Denver (yes, Denver) can compete for that fourth spot — and, thus, home-court advantage in the first round. ‘I think if we finish up February well and have a good March, what I’d like to do is get those two April games against Oklahoma City (which is No. 4 in the West),’ said Karl. ‘I have a feeling that it will be a fight for home-court situation. And I think you’ll have to beat Oklahoma City twice to get the home court.’ Only three games separate teams five through 10 in the Western Conference (eight teams make the playoffs), though it’s possible Utah will suffer down the stretch after the trade of its best player, Deron Williams. The Hornets, Trail Blazers, Grizzlies and even the Suns join the Nuggets as teams battling for the final four playoff berths. ‘All I know is from March 15 to April 15, there’s going to be a lot of pressurized games,’ Karl said. ‘Scoreboard watching is going to start a little earlier this year.’”

Then, the Thunder better correct this current 3-game skid….

I was up at practice yesterday and this is a deep, excited confident team. They have a pretty winnable week of games but the schedule gets tough real quick. The “new guys” spent about 30 mins post-practice hitting up the white board with Nugs’ assistants, drawing up plays.

After two NDP-CD’s to start his time in Denver, Timofey is about ready to get some burn, too (George insinuated as much). He stayed late and did full-court dribbling drills with AA and Gary Forbes. Dude is large. I’m excited to see him play next to Nene.

hahahahahahaah…let’s hope you make the playoff first. And yes, no one is touching OKC fourth seed

^agreed, after this trade I see the Nugs dropping a lot of games and possibly not being a playoff team.. Not that they don’t have “good players”, but by the time they figure it out, might be too late..

Nuggets were a gallos free throw away from being 3-0 without Melo and got a win against Boston keeping them to 75 pts. They got a shot

don’t see why they cant.. right now they have a identical record to new Orleans and are one win off from okc, and are 3 of 4 in wins since melo left, beating memphis, boston, atlanta and were 1 free throw away from beating portland.. your a fool if you count them out..

BIG BLUE knows whats up nuggets beat atlanta tnight and it was a fun game these guys are ready to make some noise
