Report: Kendrick Perkins to OKC; Jeff Green to Boston

A last-minute bombshell of a trade comes through. Yahoo! has the details: “Boston has agreed to send Kendrick Perkins to OKC for package that includes Jeff Green. OKC will also send Nenad Krstic to the Celtics for Perkins, source says.”

UPDATE: ESPN says Nate Robinson is also part of the deal: “Jeff Green & Nenad Krstic for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson is done.”

  • Remo Williams

Did not see this one coming… guess theowner got mad @Jeff for not passing to Durant last night

  • Exist4eva

say it aint so…why would you trade KP the 2 Oneils are a bust so we need our big man

  • Bruno

I don’t see Perk in that OKC squad but damn at those celtics gettin’ Green

  • http://www.twitter.com/djhurrikane13 DJ HurriKane

I don’t like that trade…I’d prefer Perk staying with the C’s

  • MUBWAR

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…PERK YYYYY?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

GTFOH!!! This can’t be true. Perk is their anchor. I don’t believe it. For Kristic?? You gotta be kidding me?!?

  • robz

    OMFG….crazyyyyyy

  • MUBWAR

NOW THE C’s are very beatable. Thank you OKC.

  • robz

smart move celtics high flyer and a youngsta jeff green and krstic improved big man

  • SMIK

Kendrick is such a emotional and Key guy to the Boston Celtic team, this does not look like a smart move on paper. i guess Boston knew something was up with his knee as he lost alot of lift to get rebounds. This just cant be… Celtics teammates will be very unhappy about this as the such a tight team, i guess the PowersToBe knew Perk couldnt effectively carry the team at the Center position through the playoffs.

  • Chris_Griff_3

I guess this means Celtics are going to resign Rasheed Wallace and have him and Semih Erden back up Shaq?

  • robz

OMFG…crazyyyyy…but smart move celtics acquiring high flyer jeff green and improved big man krstic

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

I won’t believe it until I see Perk in an OKC uni. Someone’s trying to start rumors to see how far they’ll travel. This just doesn’t make any sense.

As a magic gsm this makes me EXCITED. Boston just traded the only guy who can guard Dwight. Now Orlando stands a chance against Boston in the 2nd round

  • Jonas

What would OKC do with Perkins? What would Boston do with Green? Both players dont fit their new teams.

A “Green” Boston Away jersey is meta-cool, tho.

  • D12FSU

As a magic fan* I’m typing from a phone

  • Bruno

    Perk and Nate???

  • http://www.pablasso.com pablasso

They already got Shaq for this season and next. He’s old but he bothers the hell out of Gasol and Bynum which is all they need, plus they already did great without Kendrick. Kristic and Jeff Green for Perkings looks like a good deal to me, more depth to boston.

  • holiday

Really? Celtic fans don’t like this trade, are you kidding me? Green is younger, more athletic, can shoot 3′s, and hasn’t been seriously injured before!!!

  • http://idunkonthem.blogspot.com albie1kenobi

so you just guaranteed losing because you were always flaunting about your unbeatable starting 5 and you broke it up yourself? green is nice for them. the kind of intelligent player that fits their role perfectly. the guy who can knock down a late game 3, key steals, etc. but you just broke up your vaunted defense!

  • Shem

This is a make or break deal for the Thunder. Jeff Green is the glue of that team but now that hes gone I think they arguably have the best defensive big men in the league. Ibaka and Perkins, damnnn. Hopefully the offense can keep up.

  • ionmic

Reality is C’s new perk was gonna get offers in free agency ones they possible werent prepared to match. this gives them a player in green who is versatile and can be groomed to be be a major contributor as the big 3 retire and they get nenad a solid big man who doesnt clog the lane for rondo nice move by both teams.

OKC get a player that cole adrich wants to be when he grows up and fills their biggest need. A big nasty defensive center

  • robz

yea at shem IBAKA & PERK

  • Bruno

the thunder gettin ready for LA, they just got Nazr Mohammed too

  • http://www.pablasso.com pablasso

Also, OKC just got a lot better too. This is just problems for LA.

  • tasha

why in the world? what the heck was danny ainge and commisioner stern thinking about? wth is jeff green? this dumb as heck. gthfoh. SMH

  • JTaylor21

This is a definite head-scratcher. They just traded away the best post defender in the L and their depth at the center position just went down the drain. Shaq is too old to be playing significant mins anymore and JO is a dead man walking. Damn Bos, not a good look.

  • Pablo

Great trade perk hurts the celts and now celts get two great role players…. GREAT TRADE

  • ripslam

    Doesn’t make sense.

Why trade one of your top-two defensive players for a questionable defender in Green, and a random dud center and a throw-in? Doesn’t make any sense, Perkins is their anchor. I don’t know why they’d trade him, he was actually playing very well until that knee bang the other day. Why not just swap JO and maybe another piece like Avery Bradley for Green?

    I don’t get it.

  • alyssa

this is horrible! kendrick is the only guy who can guard dwight and all the laker big men and he’s so young. this doesn’t make sense and i love nate. damn

  • HIGHLANDER

THINGS R NEVER WHAT THEY SEEM. THE CELTICS LOOKED LIKE THE FAVORITE N THE EAST. NOW THEY LOOK SKEPTICAL ABOUT THEIR OWN CHANCES. THEIR A LOT LESS SCARY NOW AND BY THE WAY A LOT MORE SOFT N THE MIDDLE. GOOD 4 THE THUNDER. GO KOBE(BEST PLAYER SINCE JORDAN).

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Did I miss something or did Jeff Green suddenly jump into the Kobe, Lebron, Wade, KD…sh*t, even Gerald Wallace territory? Please, this is a huge loss for the Celts.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    I’m talking about athleticism….not position.

  • Red Star

As a Lakers fan I find this very unsettling! Damn you Celtics and Thunder! Damn you!!!

  • realtalk617

This is a great move. I will miss perk but they get 2 big men. green can spread the floor shoot 3s and hit mids. kristic is not a great defender like perkins but hes not bad either. Great move 6 Big men no 1 can fuk with the celtics now!

  • Artest

This trade makes sense. The Celtics needed a small forward to back up Paul Pierce. Green is more fit for the small forward position than power forward. Also, they would have lost Perkins this summer anyway when he becomes FA. The Thunder will be better off playing Ibaka and Perkins because they already have great scorers in Durant and Westbrook. Green was talented but was not the type of player that the Thunder really needed. So this was quite a smart move for both teams.

  • CARTEL

As far as I’m concerned…Boston just made OKC BETTER than they already were!!!!…Young team gonna grow together…And Nate is a great fit there…Good trade for basically both teams…

  • dfish

yeah i agree….theres definitley a lot more to it then just the first impression. Either if its a major injury on perk, pierces desperate plea for a backup, some kind of huge conflict with perk and the celtics gm, some kind of new rebuilding process for the celtics future….i have no idea. But ik that the celtics team especially the starters and doc, wouldn’t have let the celtics gm trade him away if it wasnt for a significant reason.

  • Drew

    Thunder just got scary!!

  • http://thegrandcompanion@gmail.com GoEast

Credit another assist to Ainge. Oklahoma now has a better chance of beating LA in the west.

  • Stevie, Glasgow

I suppose you have to trust Ainge as he always does the right thing for the team rather than any individual, but it could prove to be a huge mistake. Good Luck and God Bless to Kendrick & Nate.
