Report: Ron Artest Wants Out?

Always unpredictable, Ron Artest apparently can’t find happiness in L.A., with the defending champs, with one of the greatest coaches, and one of the greatest players… From ESPN‘s Marc Stein: “I’m told that there’s at least one prominent Laker who hopes he’s the guy who gets shipped out in the next 20-odd days. One source close to the situation insists that Ron Artest wants out. Asked to react to that, Artest’s agent David Bauman declined comment. [...] I’ve nonetheless been assured this week that Artest — though he hasn’t outright demanded a trade and is likely to publicly deny it — is serious about wanting to be dealt somewhere “he can have fun again” less than a year removed from the pivotal role he played in that ring-clinching Game 7 with Boston that the Lakers so nearly squandered.”

    This is hardly a report

  • T-Money

peter, it kinda is. marc stein never makes ish up. ron’s camp being unhappy and not minding a trade is news.

Who would take him? He’s a limited talent with a sh*tty contract. I have an idea…..ship him to the Bulls. They need a big guard. That makes them tougher. He can return to his first team. Maybe he get’s back to playing 1st class defense.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

“Get. Me. OUTTA HERE!….And say Queensbridge.”
Arrest on the Bulls would be dope, but ain’t he a 3? He was the one guy I didn’t wanna see go in that Jalen Rose trade.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

He can play the two Enig. Wouldn’t he better than any option they currently have? Or couldn’t he and Deng (although he’d probably have to go in return) play in tandem since they styler of plays are so dissimilar?

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

    He got his ring, so…

  • Pugz

    get him out please

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    *their style of play

  • tomtom

Let him go, he’s LAs problem he moves in slow mo on offence and although he is a tenacious defender we got Matt Barnes to fill that void from the pine. He’s lost that killer instinct personally I think d.stern has suffocated him, sum guys just can’t play without those big shows of emotion and passion. Laters ronron.

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

Yeah, they probably could play together at the same time I suppose. I wouldn’t want Artest if it meant losing Deng though. Deng’s younger and a better offensive player. Defense is about the same now too.

    Latest lakers scapegoat. ………

  • http://Slamonline.com Polow Da Jon

Do I forsee another Ariza for Artest swap?!? I really thought that the trade was almost a wash, except that Artest cost them more money and headaches. Bring Trevor back home to LA!

  • flash

to the hornets for ariza i hope

  • MikeC.

At this point, Artest doesn’t have much trade value. Lakers won’t get much back for Artest since Ron Ron probably only wants to be traded to a playoff team. Most playoff teams seem pretty set at the 3.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

    …….Malice in Lakerland

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

this is a strange start to a season, even by Lakers standards…..I’m honestly a tad confused, not sure what to think. If Ron Artest does get traded I’m confident the right move will be made, but this doesn’t feel like a championship team to me right now..

  • http://slamonline.com kap

Remeber the trade speculation surrounding Ray Allen last year? How Rondo complained about the chemistry and trade rumors about him. That team still made it to the Finals.

  • Jer dawg

Trade with Memphis again. Arrest for OJ Mayo. I think he’d be perfect. Another young talent that will defend and make baskets. He wouldn’t have to handle ball much. Get Sam Young from there, too. He’s good defender and athletic to boot.

  • http://dodgers.com Joey E.

great point kap. btw, who the hell would want to be the black Rick Kamla? Kamla is awful. sorry guy lol

  • Jer dawg

    Typo. Artest for Mayo

  • http://yahoo.com lp

He actually doesn’t have his ring, soooooo… yea…

  • Bruno

damn eboy I was thinking which teams fits him and you’re right Chicago would be the perfect place

  • http://www.double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

    CAN’T WAIT!!!

  • toinefan88

Kamla is great, and this news is great. Celtics 2011.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Canuck

He really doesn’t have the trade value for a guy like Mayo, despite how poorly Mayo’s been playing. Rest assured no one in the league is thinking hey let’s trade some young talented guys with potential for Ron Artest to help the lakers out! Well maybe Memphis would on second thought…

  • http://slamonline.com kap

The lakers are not gonna make a trade especially after making it public. Kupchak always works behind the scenes low key. He was just trying to motivate the guys. No team out there is gonna help out LA or even Boston now that Mchale and West are no longer GMs.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

No way would the Hornets trade Ariza.

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

    Loul Deng > Trevor Ariza

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

lol, why did you bring that up Enigmatic?

  • http://dodgers.com Joey E.

Deng for Artest would be interesting. Thibs would love him. but i dont know if either side would do it.

  • http://slamonline.com Yknot

    Trade em for Melo. Lol

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

Just my way of saying “fck you back”, ha ha…
No, really though, Deng > Ariza.
And Artest should go to the Pistons! Fight night at the Palace every home game!

  • Natron05

Here’s two scenarios that could work nicely:

One, Ron Artest for Shane Battier, Shane Battier does all the same things that Rob Artest does, but is smarter and a better shooter.

    Two, what about Tayshaun Prince?

I’ll even throw a third one out there that might be a little more difficult. Grant Hill, could be a great addition to the squad. He is smart enough to grasp the Triangle offense quickly, plays D even though he is old, and hits jumpers.

  • Natron05

    Rob = Ron*

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Ronny back to the Rockets? =\

  • Crustified-Jalepino

    It’s Lobe Tryant’s fault anyways.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

Natron05 i like those scenarios..but i doubt the rockets are giving up battier for artest…esp. how artest has played this season. same with prince, and or hill although the pistons management makes such bad decisions that i guess it’s likely. plus i’d be concerned about those guys having the strength to guard say paul pierce or melo. plus artest is crazy. is hill even THAT good a defender? like compared to other good defensive stoppers

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

I’ll take Ariza over Deng, and Jay Smith over that pssy Joakim.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

    Just my opinion.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Grant Hill is an excellent defender.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

For an elite team, it’s amazing how little chemistry LA has.

  • robz

    trade him for SHAQ

  • Bruno

in the beginning of the season everything was ok, once barnes comes back and he and blake start making those 3′s they are supposed to, I hope all is back to normal

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

Maybe they’re growing weary of protecting Kobe’s legacy.

  • user

    bynum+artest for carmelo! do it

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

LMAO! Jason Smith over Noah? Now I’ve heard (read?) it all!

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

AllBall your NOH bias got you seein things like Ray Charles

  • Bruno

I would make right now that bynum & artest for melo but really would denver?

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Come on fellas, you know i’m playing. Noah is one of my favourite players.

  • http://google c_cantrell

never thought i would hear such a comparison lol.. crazy

  • Keith Bogans

any player thats unhappy with their situation should get sent to the Cavs…

  • http://slamonline.com Saviour

As per my last post on this, as I rightly predicted it will be Ron that goes….not PG as some idiots predicted.

  • dma

tayshaun prince is on line 1 with golden state facilitating the 3rd team.

  • kc

who wants artest at this point? He is a shodow of his former self.

  • http://slamonline TheTruth

Dallas well probably go for him since they love washed up old players.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

To the Wolves for Corey Brewer???

  • http://nba-point-forward.si.com/ datkid

cosign keith bogans…ron ron’s situation is not that bad. He’s still winning games and in contention for a ring.
