This should help Garnett’s poor ego, his self-esteem is always so low,,,,

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

@hammer- true.. Remember Z-bo got over-looked big time in like 2005ish.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    Four Celtics? I you serious?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Love or Aldridge better take the starting spot… No disrespect to Timmy but both those guys are having better individual seasons than him.

  • HAMMER

Yep. I believe he was at 20/10 that yr. Was that the year he got injured tho? Might’ve been the yr after. Can’t remember

  • idrees

no shaq or steve nash? steve volunteered to attempt a dunk!

  • Andrew

I don’t care what yall are sayin, Monta Ellis deserves to be an all star. His peers know it. Kobe will attest to the fact that he’s one of the best players in the game. He’s got time, though, and history will show how absolutely stupid this is… the Warriors have new management and are gonna start building for real, and if Monta stays a Warrior then in a couple years there will be no excuse.

  • JTaylor21

Damn what about LA, KLove and MEllis? Why don’t they just send those guys to the east, have them replace those two hawks and Bosh. Also who’s going to be the West center? Probably Love which means that him and KD have to check DHow and Amare, oh oh.

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

    Duncan is overrated.

  • BostonBaller

The last time Ray A was in the ASG and got NO LOVE he stole the show and should have gotten MVP but the popular vote went to LBJ…fact not fiction. PP is playing some serious ball, who gets the reserve nod over KG? Rondo could have easily been a starter…so why the big complaints about Boston’s 4? Bosh is better than Shaq??? or anyone else in the East at his position? Let’s enjoy the game for what it is..

  • Josh

This is what I hate about the all-star game. Coaches choose reserves based on wins, which is why Tim Duncan is here when he does not deserve it. This is an all-star game, it shouldn’t be about wins and losses, this is about individuals, stats and all out beastin’. KLuv should be here over Mr. Fundamentals aka 13ppg, 9rb, 3ast.

  • http://slamonline.com Caboose

Wayyyy too many Celtics. Swap Felton for Ray or Pierce and Boozer for Horford. As far as Duncan making it, that’s iffy to me. If the Wolves had say 8ish more wins, Love would take his spot. I think Ellis deserved a nod, but the West just has a logjam. And tealish, you are a moron.

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com Michael NZ

Why don’t we give Love a chance?

  • Heals

For those hatin’ on 4 C’s/only 6 teams repped; no one from Tor, Was, Indy, Cle, Mil, Phi was worthy. Boozer and Noah victim of injuries, while Captin Jack and GWallace have under performed. Wouldn’t have put Felton over Rondo, and JSmith would make it 3 Hawks from a team not leading their divison. Don’t complain without providing alternatives folks…

  • paul

Boozer, Love, Ellis, Nash should all be there.

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com Michael NZ

Please, if you’re going to say ‘player X should be there’ at least say who you think they should replace. Like who does Monta replace? Sure he’s deserving, but over Manu, Westbrook or Deron? Not quite.

  • http://counterkicks.com Quinned

The ASG should be for the best players, not the ones with the most prestige. Come on 34 consecutive double doubles and counting leads the team in scoring, so its not just rebounding KLove is just getting a bad rap with voters because he doesn’t have elite athleticism and thats all people want in an all star game. He is putting up much better numbers than David Lee who got it last year solely on the fact that he put up numbers

  • Tyquan

Depending on who you talk to Tim Duncan made it because of the Spurs record and for what its worth most fans knew that either Manu or Tony Parker would get the spot. To be honest with Boston having four all stars I think that was because they made the finals last year( a game 7 at that) and their record this year. As far as wins and losses numbers and highlights on ESPN Blake Griffin deserved a spot 23/12 are nice stats for a rookie and the Clippers along with Baron Davis have been playing better lately they started off the season kinda slow. Lamarcus Aldridge should get the nod over Kevin Love who is ballin outta control and to his credit playing for Minnesota or not grabbing rebounds is about effort and real fans know the difference 15 boards a game aint nothin to sneeze at. Its easy to overlook Aldridge but Portland is playing hard despite injuries and he is clearly their best player and they need every bit of that 21 and 10.

  • ripslam

Gasol does not deserve to play over Kevin Love. He got in on his reputation. Every other game he gets bullied by opposing forwards.

  • ugly_fish

I’m really happy Monta Ellis didn’t make it … such a ball hog and his team always sucks. at least iverson won being a ball hog. and don’t forget he got jealous of Stephen curry early last yr. Ellis= prima Donna

  • Cberg

HOW IN THE WORLD DID KEVIN LOVE NOT MAKE THE ALL STAR TEAM AND BLAKE GRIFFIN DID THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! I AM TICKED!!! KEVIN LOVE HAS A 30 30 GAME AND DOESNT MAKE THE ALL STAR TEAM WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE NBA!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

When I first saw the list I thought there were too many Celts, I didn’t agree with Horford or Bosh either. But when you look at the East, who else really deserves to be there? The only other All-Star big man out there is Boozer and he missed a large chunk of games due to injury. Maybe you throw Felton on there instead of Pierce, but you can’t really argue with the roster given whats available.

I would love the NBA to do sort of the hockey thing, where they pick two captains and let them choose players, regardless of conference. Just have Team Kobe and Team Lebron and let them alternate picks. The fans can vote for who the captains are, or they can vote for who starts after the teams are picked.

  • Ansonpanson

You know how this problem could be solved? Having divisional all star teams.

  • bashmo

I’m suprised Love and Felton arent there…other than that, no complaints. Ginobliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii oh and Duncan is certainly not deserving of this spot. Charles Barkley said it best, its not a life time achievment award. Aldridge, and Rudy Gay shouldve recieved some recognition..

  • chazz michael michaels

haa the boston celtics are the reserves lol

  • the Dude

Way too many gripes on this page. The waaambulance
is on the way. It was in LA tending to the Lakers.

    Good luck All-stars.

    Griffin for pres.

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics lightsout

i don’t see why people are shocked the celtics have four all stars. ray is having the best shooting year of his career (even though he’s shooting “only” 86% from the foul line), pierce is the captain of the east’s best team, garnett is their defensive leader, and rondo probably ties KG for their most important player. and look at the team. second best record and the league, and they’ve beaten all the other elite teams. there are always going to be players who probably deserve it but don’t get in, but you can’t make room for everyone, and if you have a problem with those four great players getting spots, you need to watch more basketball.

  • mrbust

david stern should have put kevin love, lamarcus, monta ellis, zach randolph, or someone else to east reserves. east reserves is kinda boring

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Ellis and either Love/Aldridge/Randolph will be seriously snubbed. They really have no love for Ellis, do they?

  • http://nba-point-forward.si.com/ datkid

I really like the east’s lineup personally…people say bosh shouldn’t be there, but come one. He’s still an elite pf who was on the olympic team, and the only reason he hasn’t put up better #’s is because he’s playing with lbj and dwade. I do think josh smith should make it at some point though.

The western conf. is a dif story…Love better take yao’s spot I swear to god. 30-30 is HISTORIC. it’s only been down a couple other times. I’m not saying he should make it over griffin bc to me not only is griffin a crowd pleaser, he is also sort of a history maker( he is one of a couple big men to put up 20-10 as rookies. the others? shaq,TD, and derrick coleman. B.Griff=future hall of famer(most likely)) if there’s anybody who doesn’t deserve to be in the ASG it’s probably Pau. Aldridge should be in the ASG as well… bc he’s stepped up to become the man of the trailblazers, with broy, greg oden, marcus camby, and now wes matthews out. Ideally(IMO), love would start, and Griff and Aldridge would come off the bench. David West is a good and clutch veteran but he’s already been an allstar, and his stats aren’t quite good enough this year. I like rudy gay better than manu even though he probably isn’t despite what stats say…but the spurs are killing everybody and they should have some people on the ASG. There’s nowhere to put the man..too many good guards and WAY too any good forwards

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Blake Griffin cracking the All-Star team doesn’t surprise me in the least. Anyone else remember last year, before he’d played his first game, when the NBA gave the Clippers (still a really bad team then) an insane number of national TV appearances JUST for Blake Griffin? And then he ended up injuring himself and the Clippers were terrible, ON NATIONAL TV!
I’m glad Blake is back and playing to his potential, but it’s evident the NBA has been fiending to promote this guy as much as possible since day one.

  • http://nba-point-forward.si.com/ datkid

nash, zbo and monta should’ve made it…but honestly this year there are just too many good forwards and guards…like i cant put zbo over griffin or love can you? maybe LA but not love or griffin…not to me…smh.

  • tony knorr

too anyone who questions ray allen being an all star this year just look at his shooting percentages and shut up. Not if but when he finished hitting his 6th 3 pointer of the game or knocks down the game winning J if its a close one you will all walk away happy knowing that you just saw the greatest shooter in basketball history do his thing. AGAIN!!!

  • http://nba-point-forward.si.com/ datkid

teddy-I vaguely remember that….also yeah they hate monta…which is a shame since monta’s like a young kobe..only tiny.

  • CARTEL

Damn near the entire starting 5 of Boston is on the reserves…guess Raymond Felton really didnt stand a chance….

  • bails1

LA, Love, Monta, and even Kevin Martin deserve burn in this game. The West is a nightmare for this kind of thing. Timmy not so much.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/officerbarbrady what

Josh Smith should have made it over Bosh.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

LMFAO@ ALL THE KEVIN LOVE SLURPERS, HIS TEAM IS HOT GARBAGE. TEAM SUCCESS HAS ALWAYS COUNTED TOWARDS ALLSTAR. that said, 4? celtics? really? but only two spurs? hmm. tony should have made it too, but deron and russ deserved it. yaos spot should go to lamarcus or zbo. theyre putting in work and getting wins. love is just a looter in a riot. who is he competing for boards with? darko? please. love can be an allstar when he sniffs the playoffs, or just not be on one of the worst teams in the league. some of you act like this is the first season youve watched the nba, and the allstar selection process. kevin love rightfully didnt make it, four celtics is just crazy. and zbo or lamarcus for yaos spot.

  • PlanetAsia14

Where’s JOSH SMITH!? Come on now, Bosh, really?

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

tim most certainly deserves his spot for what hes done this year, you know, only anchor the defense for the best team in the league. its ok, you can say it. go ahead and drop the “with the best record” part. spurs are the best team in the league. DYESS!!!!!!

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Tarzan wtf are you talking about? Team success has definitely not “always counted towards Allstar.” If so, why has Chris Bosh made the All-Star team consistently despite playing for the Raptors? Why has Dwyane Wade made the All-Star team the past few years even though the Heat have had horrible seasons before now? Z-Bo made the All-Star team last year, and the Grizzlies definitely weren’t a good team then. David Lee was also picked as a reserve for the East and the Knicks didn’t even make the playoffs last year.
So… Calm down. Kevin Love obviously deserves to be an All-Star.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

well, dumbass, as i explained about a week ago, bosh and wade were voted in as starters, so the fans control that. zbo made it last year cuz he was the reason the grizz improved, they were on track to make the playoffs, plus he beasted. david lee was an injury replacement, that was boguts spot. you are not an all star when your team is 11-37. damn, you are stupid. is this your first year watching the nba?

  • X

How does Monte not make the squad? That’s Blasphemy.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Wow Tarzan, yet again you talk (or type) out of your @ss and have absolutely no idea what the f*ck you’re talking about. Chris Bosh made the 2006 All-Star team as a RESERVE, and the Raptors went 27-55 that year. F*cking idiot. OH BUT WAIT, RECORD IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS.
And in case you haven’t noticed, yes David Lee was an injury replacement–but he was on a team with a crappy record. Which is pretty much what you’re arguing Kevin Love shouldn’t be. You just said Aldridge or Z-Bo should replace Yao. Why? Because of record. Well the KNICKS ALSO HAD A SH!TTY RECORD BUT DAVID LEE MADE IT, so your logic has zero merit.
The insults were cute though, you smug f*cking imbecile.

  • Armando

@$am, 8:17: Are you serious? Do you really read that much into stats? The squads are fine and whoever gets the replacement spot in the west, whether it be Love, Aldridge or Nash, I’m fine with.
And, I guess you also think that (just a couple of examples):
    2011:
    Ray Felton, 17.1ppg 3.7apg 8.9apg 88%FT>Rajon Rondo, 10.6ppg, 4.5rpg 12.5apg 50%FT
    1991:
    Michael Adams, 26.5ppg, 10.5apg>Isiah Thomas, 16.2ppg, 9.3apg

    More where it comes from…

Good players makes their teams win.

  • Armando

I won’t complain if its Randolph either.. Odom will be a stretch though…

  • T-Money

why are people acting like bosh in the asg in an outrage? it’s his SIXTH in a row.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Myles Brown

Big Z was an All Star in 2003. His team was 9-38. Please stop making things up.

  • http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursnation/ Anthony

Stats are so overated, Duncan is putting his stats aside to do all the little things to make his team win and he’s doing a wonderful job at it (FYI: we’re 41-8). And from time to time he will go into 2005 mode just to make sure people remember his greatness, the last time we played NY he had a 21pts-16rbs-8ast-5blks and totally ate alive Amar’e. So give me a fu*king break, he totally deserve his spot. Of course people who dont watch the Spurs (a lot of you) will only see the stats and cry because “Mr Statsman” Kevin Love was not selected. If Love was playing for the Spurs instead of Duncan we would not be playing so well, the guy got some offensive move, he has a knack for rebounds but he’s 100 miles away the player Duncan is. Case is closed

  • GreenBall

yes yes yes!!! Russell made it! Should have been the starter over Paul, but as long as his in, i`m glad!
