Carmelo Anthony Anticipates ‘Intense’ Game from the Nets

Unless Mikhail Prokhorov and James Dolan are going to be suiting up, I think ‘Melo might be overhyping tonight’s matchup just a tad. From the NY Post: “For the first time since the Knicks landed Anthony last month and beat out their local rivals for his services, Anthony will face the Nets. It should be a fascinating matchup at the Garden, considering Anthony strongly preferred the Knicks to the Nets — but, the Knicks believed, would have been willing to sign with New Jersey if a deal with New York didn’t get done. ‘I’m home now. I’m on the home court. I’m not in Jersey playing out there. That’s next week,’ Anthony said yesterday, aware that he faces the Nets at the Prudential Center a week from Friday. ‘But I think the game will be intense out there [tonight]. I think those guys knowing of being part of the whole Melo Drama situation from day one and this being my first time playing against them since the trade went down.’”

Huh? has he seen the Nets this season? They’re busy trying to lock upthe top pick…

@Clydesays – with the way the Knicks have been playing lately, if they manage to win it’ll be entirely by accident. Even with NJ trying to ‘enhance their lottery prospects’.

Nets best first round pick is the Lakers at the end of Rd1. If Dwill plays tonight I expect pretty much what Melo is talking about. Nobody realizes how much Nets fans hate the Knicks and vice versa. Now ownership is involved as well.

Seriously how would this discussion have progressed without you? My money is on an explosion from the Lakers B-team. I’m thinking 20+ from Vujacic and 8-10 assists from Farmar. Even if D-Will is good to go I see big minutes for the little Laker who kinda could. This could be a statement game from the nyets and something to build upon for next season. As defeatist as that sounds a W or two for a young team is probably worth a spot in the Draft
