Derrick Rose: ‘We Can Win a Championship’

DRose has big goals for his squad, and his coach won’t stop driving him until they get there. From the Sporting News: “Thibs is a hard coach to play for,’ Rose says. ‘Practices are very hard; we watch film every single day. But he teaches you the right way. He holds you accountable for everything. Every single thing. Especially for the point guard, for the leader of the team—he told me that from the beginning. I’m the leader, so he has to stay on me. If something doesn’t go the way he wants it to go, he is going to come to me because he looks at me like the leader of the team. It’s hard, but he made sure I knew it’s my role and I have to accept it.’ … Heading into the stretch run, Rose and friends are itching to show that they’re more than just a nice young team having a surprisingly good year. ‘We can win a championship,’ Rose says. ‘We are not playing to get into the second round or anything. We are playing for a championship. I can’t imagine having a goal that was anything less than that.’”

    Hate in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…

no hate crawford. Rose can. Will his teammates step up on time? Will Mr. Glass(booz) stay away from injuries? No not this year, but they could in the near future.

Love the attitude these Bulls have, they should play for nothing less than a championship. I’m so glad we got Thibs!

they can beat miami for sure but i dont know about a healthy boston team. miami will have trouble with guarding rose unless they decide to make wade use all his energy on defense. joakim noah has been shutting down bosh even in Toronto so lebron is their only hope and he cant win a playoff series when wade is his spot up shooter

  • fizzrocket

Miami yes. Boston no. I dunno what’s been up with the Celtics lately, but it won’t last. I don’t really see Chicago holding on to the 1 seed.

This just in: will > can

The Bulls are starting to become the NY Jets of the NBA. They can compete for a title, no doubt, but now they are media darlings (which is always a kiss of death) and the pressure is there for them to deal with once the playoffs start. The rest of the East is starting to get a reprieve from expectations (the Heat got theirs when they lost 5 in a row and the Celts just seem to be an afterthought now by everyone outside of Boston and the Magic aren’t taken seriously anyways)and the Bulls will have it all on their shoulders. Good problem to have ’cause they’ve earned it with excellent play…but the test comes in a month….these pop quizzes they’re taking now against sh*t teams mean little to me as the Heat winning 21 out of 22 was mainly against bottom feeders and I was told those wins were suspect too. All that being said, D-Rose should be considered the MVP. Can’t wait to see the rose petals fall from the United Centers rafters!

    nope can’t beat Boston

  • Omnixyience

Don’t care whoever comes out on the east,
Lakers will still beat them and go for that 3peat.

    preach, drose!

Bulls and Lakers.. Bulls are simply the best team. Can make history by being the ONLY TEAM in NBA history to go undefeated in there division. Boston is not the same TEAM we have seen in the past…just look at there roster. Miami is not a team. Everyone would agree that TEAMS and Defense wins championships.
The Bulls are a TEAM and they live defense. D.Rose Youngest MVP in NBA History!

nice comparison Eboy minus the sh*t talking and the CANT WAIT its pretty spot on. Im a boston fan and even if they lose to the lowly nets and the clippers, im still optimistic about the post-season simply because they have proven time and again not to be doubted.

Blah. I’m just so tired of the empty rethoric in sports sometimes. What does ot mean to be a “team”? Do the Bulls have more offensive cohesion than Miami? Not at all. Do they run more sophisticated plays? Nope, they go high screen on D-Rose all the time. They win because they’re the best defensive team in the league, their offense is actually really average. Of course, they can win it all. They’re a contender. Like Boston, LA, San An, Miami and Dallas. It’s silly to pretend that any of these teams have no chance at all of winning the ‘chip.

The Bulls CAN get knocked out the first round too. Will it happen? We shall see.

    Won’t happen, Orange.
    Keep dreaming.
Anyways, @toinefan88 – they lost in overtime against Boston in their first matchup.
Lost by 12 the second time, with Boozer playing his second game and Noah already playing injured.
Then beat them by 11 without Joakim Noah.
They’re capable of beating them, though Boston is just as capable of beating Chicago in a seven game series.

  • chitownballa

we all know chicago can beat boston and boston can beat chicago. The true test is consistency to win a 7 game series. Boston is a battle tested team. they’ve won championships together. Bulls will have their hands full if they face them, but I think the bulls defense will come out on top and the white mamba will prevail.

For the Bulls to love in the 1st round they would have to draw Philadelphia. And Jrue Holliday would have to put on an other worldly defensive performance, while Iguodala will need to turn into Kobe Bryant. Chicago going to round 2 for a barn burner with whoever. Atlanta/Orlando/Miami/Boston. Could be any of those 4

    Keith Bogans rocks!

  • Desert Storm

As 2pac would say: “Damn! A rose grew from the concrete.” With that being said. Go Bulls!

  • ThaWindy

While it seems every team has a chance to win it..The teams that have to play the Bulls will stand no chance at all!! GO BULLS!!!!!DROSE ..Youngest MVP in NBA history!

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

@Keith Bogans – more performances like last night’s, and I’d agree.

  • g

man please they’re not going past the second round

  • Andrew Gregory

What do you have to support that g? Do you even watch basketball. If your gonna make demeaning statements about a team who was projected to be number 4 in the East by many editorials and experts including SLAM Magazine but has managed to be in a tie for first in the East with the Boston Celtics. Your favorite team is probably Miami because you just think they will win with talent. If you knew the first thing about basketball then you would have explained why you think that.
