Dwight Howard Frustrated With Lack of Rest

Unlike his coach, Dwight Howard isn’t concerned about the Atlanta Hawks, but what does worry him is the amount of time the Magic are spending on the court instead of off their feet. From the Orlando Sentinel: “Howard expressed no concern that the Magic lost their regular-season series to the Hawks, their likely first-round opponent. ‘It’ll be a different animal in the playoffs,’ he said. Meanwhile, injuries have reduced the Magic to just nine available players, including Gilbert Arenas, who continues to have problems with his left leg. And it seems that Howard wanted to make sure the Magic had Thursday off from practice. ‘We need our rest, you know,’ Howard said. ‘A lot of guys are trying to get healthy, and we keep pounding them away. Gilbert, his knee isn’t right yet. That’s not excuses, but when you have a short roster sometimes rest is what’s going to get everybody back healthy. You can’t force the issue or press your team when you know everybody’s not healthy. We’ve got to have our rest,’ he added later. ‘We’ve practiced enough. We’ve had enough shootarounds. It’s about rest right now.’ The Magic will not practice Thursday.”

this sounds like a guy getting his excuses ready for whenever they are eliminated in playoffs… and of course making van gundy look like he is inept at managing minutes and therefore insuring he will be hitting unemployment line soon..

jesus christ, he’s becoming his coach.

I wish no one on the Magic would talk out loud for the next three months.

Yes, please rest him for the rest of the season. The person I’m facing in fantasy has him. LOL

  • MUBWAR

looooooooooooooooooooooooool at niq. Im dealing with the same issue bro. He is out rebounding my entire front line on a nightly basis

Holy hell is Dwight a baby. The guy will never win a championship because he has an excuse for everything that happens to him or his team. How about instead of whining you just shut up and play. You to Stan!

  • T-Money

Nah, Dwight is not a baby. That’s a shot to his coach – what he’s saying is that SVG never played basketball so he doesn’t know when the body needs rest and when to push for more practice. Phil Jackson is also legendary for belittling all NBA coaches who haven’t played in the league.

A possible championship winning team needs to be totally focused, but complaints like that give the team a ready made excuse for when they lose.

I can hear SVG’s whiny voice yelling: DWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT YOU NEED MORE PRACTIIIIICE YOU TO WORKOUUUUUUT MOOOOOREEEE, YOU’RE NOT RIPPED ENOOOOOUGH!!!

you cant really rest a guy when your only other options are A) play bass, a starting PF whod be playing undersized as a center. Or B) a 32 year old Malik Allen who doesnt jump for rebounds….Dwight, get ready to average at least 42 minutes a game in the playoffs
