Dwight Howard Says He Wants to Finish His Career in Orlando

This doesn’t mean he won’t change his mind within the next two years or so, but for now, it’s a nice sentiment for the Magic and their fanbase to hear. The Orlando Sentinel reports: “I love Orlando. The city has been very good to me and I would love to finish my career here. I want to win a championship and I want to win it in Orlando,’ Howard said on the Dan Patrick Show Monday morning. ‘That’s all I’ve been thinking about.’ Howard told Patrick that he would not hold his own television special to announce his decision, a l a LeBron James. When Patrick joked that Howard would say he’d take his talents to Disney World, Howard laughed and reiterated that his decision is two years away. Howard keeps saying this, but it’s not really the case. Yes, he can’t technically become a free agent until after next season, but the Magic would want to know what he is thinking before next season’s trade deadline.”

That’s what they all said… like LeBron. Then, they flocked to other places. I can’t wait to be the first person to say, “Welcome to the Knicks, D12!” MAKE IT HAPPEN, WALSH!

@ RunNGun, Maybe Lebron will finish his career in Cleveland?

  • http://nba.com EJ

HE’S GONE!!! Remember when Lebron said he would win a championship in Cleveland? That’s what’s up.

Dwight = Next coming of Shaq. For both Magic AND LA. Hopefully, this ends as a fairy tale ending. I wouldn’t mind swapping D12 for Bynum (despite his improvements) anyday of the week.

haha y’all have no idea what’s gonna happen this summer. there is no way in hell the lakers can afford to pay dwight next summer. There are gonne be no great teams

@runngun your comments on all these threads make me want to smash my computer. We used to have to avoid only threads about lebron, but now every single thread is about new York. We don’t care. Stop pretending like we do

He should stay. At least in Orlando he has a coach that will go to bat for him the way Stan did.

when i read the headline i thought he is goin to retire in 2012…..

  • RunNGun

@WAGGLE Go ahead and smash your computer. So, what are you waiting for, eh? Every NBA superstar knows that the KNICKS are the team to beat. They’ll join up with team sooner or later. Make it happen, Walsh!

Bulls should try and trade for him next season.

Awesome city… If I was rich, I’d move there..

  • O

I’m a TRUE Knicks fan. Watched every game since 1992. Even when this past decade when they lost every game. I mean, they’re my team. But RunNGun just takes the damn cake. The team to beat?! LOLOL. Son, you bugging. We good, but not damn good or great. And Dwight isn’t coming to NY. He knows he’ll have to compete for touches with Stat AND Melo. We might get CP3 or D-Will, but as a Knicks fan who wants to see them win it all, I don’t know who i’d prefer. CP3 has lost a step or two, and who knows how his knee will heal if ever. So D-Will looks like the better investment at this point.

knicks the team to beat – someone must be smoking some high quality meth!
knicks are over luxury tax next year with just amare melo and jarred jeffries
let me know if you figure out how a paul or dwight can play in new york!

  • knicksvet82

    @O thanks.
@Runngun enough already, we’re just trying to get off the ground, don’t jinx us

  • O

Once Billups contract comes off the books, that’ll help with getting CP3 or D-Will. Everyone keeps forgetting his contract is up the same time CP and D-Will’s is up. Like I said though, Dwight isn’t interested in NY.

    “Make it happen, Walsh!” =\

The only way New York is going to win it all in the next few years is to get pass Boston, Chicago and Miami! There is no way they could end up with another all star caliber player due to cap space unless each of the star takes a pay cut just like MIAMI HEATLESS did! No ONE goes to play in NEW YORK to earn less money, thats just how that corporation works.
