Eddy Curry Has Been Bought Out

GMs around the League are surely salivating at the idea of snatching up Curry for the Playoffs, now that he’s back on the open market. From the Star Tribune: “The team announced during the game that they reached a buyout agreement with Eddy Curry and waived the veteran, oft-injured center by a midnight deadline that makes him eligible to sign with a team for the playoffs, if such an interested team exists. Is there a market for a guy who’s barely played the last three seasons. Curry and his agent must think, or know, so, otherwise why would they agree to a buyout rather than just make the Wolves waive him and pay off the rest of his $11.2 million (for which the Wolves have received $3 million from the Knicks)?”

He’s clearly going to the Heat…(I couldnt even write that with a straight face)…but who knows…with Miami not getting Troy Murphy might make them desperate…i doubt it tho

  • Bluntz&40z

You could bribe eddy curry out of his contract for a double double from in n out burger. I’m sure that’s what he thinks of when he hears the words “double double.” The heat could use another player whose more interested in off the court escapades (in curry’s case eating, in lebrons case self promotion, and in chris bosh’s case being the rupaul of bigmen) than playing basketball, they should get him. First

The buyout had a strict dining speculation attached. They pay for all of his meals for the next 3 years. Should add up to more than $12 million. Smart move.

  • Bluntz&40z

The heat already have the rupaul of big men, why do they need the jabba the hut of big men too?

You know you suck when THE KAHN doesn’t even want you…..

    Finally.

Laugh if you want, Eddy is a dominant center and will be the final puzzle piece for a championship contender.

  • MikeC.

@A.B. – Eddy Curry is the final piece for a championship contender. However, he’s on the final piece in this league: http://www.ifoce.com/

  • Shameless

Dominant in the buffet line I assume you mean. He can be a good low post scorer, but did he ever average 10 boards a game?

  • http://www.walshsportsblog.com Darren

i think his best rebounding season was something like 6.5 a game. HIS BEST!!!! How can this guy be seen as a target for ANY team, never mind a championship contender?

wtd why wont this let me post my comment

  • ClydeSays

I really can’t see him on anyone’s roster outside of being an emergency injury replacement. When was the last time he played any kind of regular minutes?

  • A.B.

@ Mikec- Pretty funny. But on a serious note, He is a big body that will command attention in the paint. Also he creates match up problems for teams without someone stromg enough to guard him. He also has one of the nicest jump hooks at his position. I think a lot of you guys forget this:

  • allenp

His finances are in shambles. He probably took the buyout because he needed quick cash.

  • IDOT

If he can stay in shape and put up the numbers he was putting up in Chicago but he went to NY then he could be a piece for a contending team.

SLAM refuses to let me reply to this post.

  • http://bulls.com airs

except when i dont have anything to post! ugh.

  • mj23

He literally ate himself out of the league. He had so much potential, but zero desire. I’m glad the Bulls got rid of him when he was worth something.

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

Everyone always thinks of the Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown trade as the biggest steal of the last decade.
But if the Bulls had held on to LaMarcus Aldridge instead of trading him for Tyrus Thomas in the ’06 draft, then trading Eddy Curry to the Knicks for two picks that ended up being Joakim Noah and LA would’ve been there as well!
As it is, Noah for Curry worked out pretty well for the Chi.

  • RunNGun

He’s going to the Knicks… you can bank on it! Someone needs to pick up 6 fouls in 6 minutes and pretend to play defense. Get ‘er done, Walsh!

    Oliver Miller 2.o

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Haha @ unrel.. I wouldn’t mind if my Blazers picked him up for the remainder of the season.. BIG body to hang out in the paint while Aldridge catches his breath on the pine.. At the very least he’s good for 6 fouls..

  • Riggs

I hope he’s good at something else.

  • hoodsnake

Kahn was afraid he would eat his piont guards

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

If ANY team gets him I’m going to spew my face off. Doesn’t ANY GM/COACH get it??? No wonder we’re going into a lockout.

  • http://jayemmbee23.tumblr.com Clutch Performer

Celtics maybe? in case they still worried about the health of the O’neals

  • MikeC.

@ AB – I’m a Knick fan. I’ve forgotten nothing that Eddy Curry brought to the table. The problem is that he takes more off the table than he brings. That’s not even a fat joke. He either can’t or won’t rebound, block shots, play help D or run the floor. Those are kinda necessary.

  • http://slamonline.com c_cantrell

Eddy Curry is the biggest loser the leaugue has ever seen. Even bigger than JTaylor and Jukai’s crushes on me.

  • EtheKnickFan

How you come to practice with BBQ stains on your jersey? Are those hot wings in your sneaker box?

  • http://slamonline don

if he csn get back into shape he may have a shot in this league

  • knicksvet82

Man, I knew this would be funny!!!

  • knicksvet82

Btw, he’s had quite some time to hit the treadmill, “if he can get in shape” is not an option

  • irondan21

Why would Kahn be afraid of Curry eating the point guards? He has like 14 of them plus one in europe

  • http://hoopistani.blogspot.com hoopistani

If Eddy Curry sits on his fat ass collecting weight and money from the knicks for the last 3 years, and then after the trade, gets a buyout, and then signs for Miami to play two minutes a game in the playoffs and wins a ring, my head’s going to explode

  • ab40

dude is overweight and has heart problems. I wouldn’t take a risk on him either

  • Yesse

Celtics might sign him. They lost Perkins so they need something to fill that hole and Curry literally fills it.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Eddy Curry is hungry for a chip! BOOK IT!

  • A.B.

@Mikec- Time will be the answer in this situation. But I think Eddy has a few surprises for this league and all of its doubters.
