‘Outside Chance’ Kevin Love’s Season Could Be Over

We’re in that portion of the season where teams with no Playoff aspirations seriously contemplate shutting down their star players to avoid further injury. Which is the situation Kevin Love and the T-Wolves find themselves in these days. From the AP: “Minnesota Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis says there’s a chance that All-Star forward Kevin Love could miss the rest of the season because of a strained left groin. Love sat out Thursday night’s game against Dallas after he was hurt in a 127-95 home loss to Sacramento on Sunday. The Timberwolves have 10 games left after playing the Mavericks. ‘There is an outside chance, I don’t know how great that chance is,’ Rambis said. ‘Obviously, with hamstring or groin injuries, you want to be cautious with them because they can linger for a long period of time, and we don’t want that to happen with Kevin.’”

A couple months ago, I had a brief Twitter exchange with Kevin in which I promised him, pending the current Slam Ed.’s approval, that if he averaged 20 & 15 for the season, Kevin would finally earn himself a Slam cover.
For the season, Kevin is currently averaging 20.3 ppg & 15.4 rpg.
However, in his previous four games, Kevin averaged just 10.8 & 9.8.
I submit to you that Kevin Love will sit out the rest of the season for the sole purpose of guaranteeing his Slam cover.
The Slam legal team will take up this issue at its next weekly meeting.
    Stay tuned.
