Phil Jackson Paying Attention to Bulls’ Record

The Bulls have been lethal at home all season. Also, it’s worth noting this is the first time since Jackson coached the Bulls that Chicago has even been considered a Finals contender. From ESPN: “Jackson said he is also paying close attention to the Eastern Conference standings, particularly to third-ranked Chicago. Jackson wants to make sure L.A. stays ahead of Chicago in the overall league standings should the Lakers play the Bulls in the Finals, assuring home-court advantage in that scenario. “You want those matchups, just in case something happens, to be in your advantage so that you have home court,” Jackson said.

Phil needs to worry about the west, Spurs & OKC are dangerous this year.

  • rich

……its the lakers phill is worried about boston and really no1 else in the east

    ^tina..
exactly.. i dont think phil needs to start worrying about the bulls until he gets past the thunder (IF he gets past the thunder)

    respect……finally

It would be a great throwback playoffs if Chicago had to go through the Knicks and the Lakers to get to the championship.

Phil is scared of Drose, he’s seem him play. He knows Fish, Blake or even Kobe can defend Drose. :P Just kidding, I agree with everyone here, he should worry about Dallas’ record, try to get homecourt advantage for the 2nd round.

Not kidding about people can’t guarding rose, but we already knew that, he’s unguardable.

Dr. Phil is doing a misdirection. Get the people in the east to look at someone else so the other Eastern teams are taking notes and ignoring other teams and it may work. He takes jabs at other teams so there Is a method to his madness, but nobody can explain it.

hawks did a good job on rose the other night, but even at that, he missed shots he normally makes. A Lakers vs Bulls finals would be a great way for the Jackson career to draw to an end. It will be either Jackson wins against the team he first won with or the bulls finally win without Jordan/Jackson. Regardless, i like spurs or mavericks in the west.

I think that Phil doesn’t need to worry about the West, really, cause they really are the toughest and the best team in that conference, they’ve played well in the last couple of games and they’re getting ready for the play-offs. In the East there are 2 or maybe 3 great contenders, in my opinion – of course Celtics, Bulls and could be the Magic. Heat is weak

bulls are in the weakest division of all time, pistons, pacers, bucks, cavs. awful. phil needs to be worried about the spurs

  • block

tarzan the bulls have the best record in the NBA against +.500 teams and have bigs that make pau and bynum work to get their points, plus a closer at their most vulnerable defensive position. rondo doesnt present the same problems in close games that rose does

  • http://shinefluid@aol.com just bcuz

anytime phil jackson is thinking about chicago its a good thing

  • bashmo

Yeah Jahmai..no one except for Kirk Hinrich, haha im kidding, but when the bulls played the Hawks, Hinrich defended him superbly. Shut his ass down PERIOD. But I agree, DRose is near unguardable. If I were Phil, I’d worry about meeting Dallas in the second round..that can lead to an early playoff exit. Either way, the Lakers will likely end up facing the Mavs or Thunder in round 2 of the playoffs. Really going to be an interesting playoffs this year.

  • Allaround33

@bashmo Hinrich did a good job the other night but he did not shut Rose down. And I remember Rose getting the best of Hinrich when he was on the Wizards too.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

anybody think hinrich shut down d rose is a fool. Rose has been in a shooting slump for the past five or six games and wasnt able to make the hawks pay that game for sagging. as a team they did a decent jod crowding but Rose can beat that. dont give hinrich too much credit for that game.

Rest in peace Ed Manning (yes Danny Manning’s dad) Slam seems to overlook the deaths in the Blazer’s family… I was very disappointed when they didn’t notice the passing of ex all star Kevin Duckworth..

  • al29

on a side note, Tom Thibodeau is the best Bulls’ coach since Phil Jackson.

  • RedRum

actually, I want to see how the bulls do in the playoffs under TT. Usually defensive assistant coaches do well in regular season, but their teams suffer in the playoffs. You need to have offensive flexibility and resourcefulness in the post-season, something that defensive coaches seem to lack. See what happened to Avery Johnson.

  • salt lake sean

Every Johnson took his team to a finals appearance. Dirk and the rest of the mavs didn’t close the deal in that series.

  • RedRum

explain to me how this works: EJ was the one who took the team to the finals, but the players were the ones that blew it? surely it goes both ways… lets consider this: who is the best coach ever? Arguably Jax. is he famous for his offense or defense? Have not heard of rectangle defense yet… Defense is relatively easy to teach. rotations are pretty standard. Offense is a different beast… it requires creativity and lateral thinking. When your team gets stuck offensively, which happens more often than not on the playoffs, you need to bring something to the game that gets them over the hump. Thim has not shown such a creativity yet.

  • flipnoyce

LMAO at PHIL, The SPURS are the team you need to watch out for or the THUNDERS! EVEN Dallas has a better record than your team! Who ever comes out of the east (BOSTON) will surely be a BEAST to reckon with to contend in the finals!@Red Rum Phil has too much luck to be consider the greatest coach. He had coached more talented players and had the BEST player of each DECADE so you do the math! I’d like to see him bring the current Cavs to a finals!

  • 2KInsider

I like how Kobe only gets credit for being the best player when people are trying to discredit Phil’s greatness.
