Post Up: Lonely at the Top

Bulls claim first in the East; Knicks fall in final second.

by Adam Figman | @afigman

Indiana 119, New York 117

Two nights after the Pacers ran right through the Knicks in the World’s Most Famous Arena, Indiana played host to the ‘Bockers, this time with a healthy Danny Granger in tow. Granger (26 points) didn’t have too huge an impact on the game’s first 47 minutes, but the Pacers star was a major factor when it mattered most, draining an elbow jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining that put his squad ahead by 2. The Knicks had an opportunity to counter in the form of a midcourt in-bounds play, but with Carmelo Anthony (29 points) calling for the ball at the top of the key (Why, though? There were 0.3 ticks left, not enough time to take a deep J!), Jared Jeffries sent an errant pass into the paint, where it was scooped up by the Pacers. Game, hova. NYK has now taken three L’s in a row, and will look to turn those fortunes around at home tomorrow against the Grizzlies.

Chicago 98, Washington 79

And, just like that, the Bulls are the #1 team in the East. Chicago hosted the Wizards last night, sending them packing with a loss after beating them down behind Derrick Rose and Luol Deng‘s 43 combined points. But a couple of Washington dudes put up some impressive numbers: young’n Jordan Crawford dropped 27, and JaVale McGee managed an 11-point, 12 rebound, 12-block triple-double. He also got T’d up for “excessive celebration” for doing a pull-up on the rim after reaching double-digit scoring, and that’s just not a very good look. At least not when your team is down 20.

Atlanta 110, Milwaukee 85

A headband-clad Joe Johnson absolutely dominated the Bucks, dropping 36 and leading the Hawks to an easy home win against Milwaukee. While JJ sank six threes and took care of the team’s outside game, forward Josh Smith owned the interior, scoring 17, grabbing 14 and swatting 4. The Bucks fly home to face the Magic tonight, and, if they’re smart, they’ll hurry up and get their shit together in time to make a half-decent Playoff push.

Portland 104, Dallas 101

We got a sneak peak of what the Western Conference Playoffs could look like last night, when the Blazers and Mavs battled down to the end in Portland. The Trail Blazers showed they’re sneakily pretty dangerous, especially with a healthy and ready-to-go Brandon Roy, who scored 21. Dirk Nowitzki (28 points, 11 boards) had a chance at a game-tying three late, but it rimmed out, and the Mavs fell for the second game in a row. LaMarcus Aldridge led his squad with 30.

Last Call: Danny Granger goes to work.

“Not in the Rs. That’s not what your mother said”

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    last one:

Sean Connery: Well, the game is afoot. I’ll take anal bum cover for 7,000.

Alex Trebek: That’s An album cover, not anal bum cover.

Sean Connery: I can read, Trebek. That says Anal bum cover. I’ve spent five years of my life trying to invent an anal bum cover, failing to do so is my greatest regret.

Brion, that was just Artest, and hes insane…

  • http://www.redraidersports.com Nicolas Fleming

Sounds that dogs make. We would have accepted bow wow or rough. “Rough just how your mother likes it, Trebek.”

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

    BEST SNL skits EVER.

  • JTaylor21

Enigmatic, I’m sorry but SNL sucks. I’ve tried so many times to watch them and give them a chance to crack me up but I come away depressed every time because they are no that funny. MAD TV on the other hand was a 1,000 times funnier.

  • http://www.redraidersports.com Nicolas Fleming

Nah, J you just have to watch the right ones. They havent been good since the 90s

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

Overall I thought MAD TV was funnier too, but those Jeopardy skits were funny as hell.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Diesel
I support players because they are humans, and as such, I can connect to them on a human level.
I only support TV shows if they entertain me. Once that stops I stop watching.
The “fan” argument is that the only way to be a real fan is if you support your team no matter what. It’s not about entertainment value, it’s about loyalty to the laundry.
We don’t have that attitude for any other business, which was my point.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Sandler’s years were great. Him, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, those were great years. And Will Farrel carried a lot of the show for the later part of the 90′s

  • JTaylor21

Ok, that’s the problem; I’m watching the wrong era. Speaking of other eras, Miami Vice was and still is the best show I’ve ever seen.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    NCIS son, lol.

  • tonyknorr

cosign hammer at 12:44. RIP Nate Dogg. and since this comments is pretty boring on the whole I guess I will leave one this. Ray Allen is a stone cold killer and the celtics are going to roll everyone in the east.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

NCIS is fake as all hell.
Trust me, the real NCIS is nothing like the show.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Enigmatic – I’m 24 years old homie, I know it’s not based in reality. They go from DC to Norfolk in like 20 minutes on that show, and if i’m not mistaken that’s atleast a 3 hour drive. lol just an example of how un-realistic it is even at the most basic level. I watch for entertainment, its like complaining about the lack of realism in CSI

  • http://slamonline.com Jukai

Of course Enigmatic knows. Ultra-tough guy knows everything under the sun.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Well, now I don’t know, I used to be stationed in Norfolk, and I knew some cats that could get to DC awfully quick, lol.
But I know what you mean.
I just have a tough time watching all those types of shows just cause even though I keep telling myself it’s for entertainment, it still gets on my nerves how like, in Law and Order a case will be solved and dude will be locked up in like a week.
    And that’s not really Jukai.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Actually I think if I was in your position I would be the same way. But I have never served in the military, so there is nothing for me to compare or get angry about, I expected fiction without any real experience to compare it too from the beginning, its almost cheating.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

My Dad watches TV and movies like NBK.
He’s always telling it’s just entertainment when I start carping about how a show isn’t making sense.
I can’t be entertained if the entire premise is idiotic.

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

I still don’t buy the Bulls as real contenders. Maybe I should, but I really don’t. They’re playing the best ball now, though, that’s for sure. Still…not buying it.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

nbk, I don’t get upset watching those shows and I didn’t mean to insinuate that I was questioning your intelligence.
I like watching shows that are far-fetched too.
But NCIS just comes off as silly to me.
To be fair, NCIS isn’t as far-fetched as JAG.
JAG officers rarely leave their offices, let alone get involved in combat situations.
But I still watched JAG cause Catherine Bell was quite the dime piece.
As for greatest show of all time…even though it’s ultra-far-fetched too, I gotta give it to 24.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

    Or maybe Dexter.
I wish I could go and murk child rapists and murderers and stuff too.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Oh i’m a little bit two ways, if the logistics that I understand of a show aren’t following reason I lose interest. Like NCIS for example how they come their conclusions are always unrealistic, like solving a terrorist threat in mere hours by using some crazy advanced scientific technology. But the stories make sense and the premises aren’t crazy, its not alice in wonderland

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

yeah didn’t mean to sound offended, I knew what you meant. I just was saying I’m grown lol I can tell its not how it really shakes out.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

The Office is still the best TV show ever made. I won’t even consider anything else in the same league

  • j4zzm4n

i see your 24 and raise one THE WIRE… also x-files back in the day was dope and nonsensical at the same time

  • http://slamonline Brion

    Chapelle show was my fav.

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

Man, I still haven’t had the chance to see The Wire.
I been putting it off for forever now.
I really do need to peep that.
As for comedies, I’m really loving Community these days.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Wifey and I enjoy cooking shows at the minute.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

    The early seasons of House.

  • j4zzm4n

Enigmatic do yourself a favour and watch it. I need to own it on blu-ray. The Wire is as classic as you could hope for. What I have never watched is the Sopranos…

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

    Damn you, Dacre!
I now have the House theme song stuck in my head…

  • JTaylor21

I forgot all about the X-Files, I’ve probably seen every episode. The Wire is a classic also but you gotta start from season one to truly understand the show. The sopranos was cool but I really really hated the ending.

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

@AllenP – don’t ever watch that Clive Owen movie, “Shoot Em Up”.
    You’ll go nucking futs.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ nbk: I love The Office, believe me. I LOVE THE OFFICE. But you can’t say there aren’t other shows in its league… Apples and oranges, my man.
For the record, The Wire is the best show ever made–point blank period. Oz and The Sopranos are close on its heels.
But I’m not comparing them to the gem that is The Office (and 30 Rock, etc.) because, like I said, apples and oranges. They’re all great.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Teddy I’m strictly talking about me personally, TV is a personal/taste thing. That show, every single character, has a direct line to making me laugh land. No non-will farrel movie does that for me, its probably like the 1996 bulls to enigmatic. – Speaking of, everytime something with a catchy song is mentioned it gets stuck in doods head lol

  • Michael

Enigmatic go out and by the wire first season NOW dude.

  • http://nobulljive.com/ Enigmatic

Alright, when that tax refund chedder comes in, I purchase season 1 of The Wire.

  • http://www.slamonline.com melvin ely

Yeah I still don’t understand how the wire was never even nominated for a single emmy. That’s just jokes. And this’ll sound weird, but I LOVE Mr. Bean lol. I’ve been hunting down DVDs for AGES.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ Enigmatic: When you watch The Wire, it’ll consume a LOT of your time. Just be prepared. Your dedication will pay off 100% though.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I actually loved that movie because I expected it to be ridiculous going in.
a movie like “Wanted” with Angelina Jolie pisses me off more.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

The Wire starts slow but it is worth it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

Sons of Anarchy is also a very good current TV series

  • aotearaw

I hope when you guys refer to ‘The Office’ as one of the greats, you’re not referring to the US version? Because that is horse sh*t compared to the original UK creation.

  • aotearaw

    Oh, and Sopranos ALL DAY

  • http://slamonline.com Jukai

You know what would be a great show? Nbk, Enigmatic, and Eboy grow a pair. Hahahahah

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

SNL Eddie Murphy Era was badass too.
My guilty pleasure of the last few years has been 30 Rock. Dialogue is amazing at times, and they luv sticking an Nba reference in there.
(Apropos SNL: some of Sandbergs ‘Digital Shorts’ are too damn funny. Check the Iran/Ahmadenijad spoof one with the Maroon 5 singer)

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

^ Dude Dark, I freaking LOVE 30 Rock!

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

LOL @ aotearaw… Sorry, but the US version is straight up CLASSIC in its own right. “Horse sh*t”…? I don’t think we can be friends anymore =(.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/officerbarbrady what

What the hell kind of “best TV show” discussion doesn’t include South Park?
