Post Up: The Sound of Revenge

Cavs overcome LeBron’s triple-double, take down Heat.

by Adam Figman | @afigman

Cleveland 102, Miami 90

It didn’t exactly make up for The Decision, but for the time being, Cleveland fans have something to rejoice over. With an absolutely rocking Q Arena carrying them all game, the Cavs held onto an 11-point halftime lead and surprisingly bested the Heat, despite LeBron James‘ 27-10-12 triple-double. During the stretch, Baron Davis (10 points) placed his squad (and the whole building, for that matter) on his back, putting in some huge buckets and finding JJ Hickson (21 points, 12 boards) for an open dunk in the final minutes, capitalizing on a crucial possession. The whole scene—led by Dan Gilbert’s smiling face, front and center—was just absurd, but the Cavs certainly earned it, shooting 55.6 percent from the field and coming through when it mattered most. Mike Bibby (23 points) played well, but Chris Bosh’s 10-point, 4-board disappearing act just isn’t going to work. The Heat are now off to Washington, while the Cavs—well, no reason to look toward the future. Cleveland can just enjoy this one for a few days. Or longer.

Houston 112, New Jersey 87

Houston pulled within two games of Playoff contention last night, routing the Nets in Jersey. Kevin Martin led ‘em with 20, enforcer Chuck Hayes scored 8 and pulled down 14, and Kyle Lowry put up a solid 16-7-10 line. The Rockets will now head to Philly, where they’ll look to continue their mini-run and inch closer to that eighth spot.

Oklahoma City 115, Golden State 114

After the Warriors made a miraculous six-second (or so), six-point comeback in the final ticks of regulation, Kevin Durant (39 points) took over, scoring 8 of his team’s 9 OT points and leading OKC to the win. Monta Ellis (20 points, 11 dimes)—who hit the shot that sent the tilt to extra time in the first place—had a chance at a game-winning J, but it rimmed out. The W was the Thunder’s fourth straight.

Sacramento 116, Phoenix 113

Despite all the off-the-court drama, Marcus Thornton and the Kings focused up long enough to take down the Suns in an arena they probably won’t be playing in for much longer. Thornton scored a game-high 24 and grabbed a personal career-high 11 boards, while DeMarcus Cousins put in 17 and dished out 8 assists (!). The Suns are now four and a half games out of postseason positioning, having watched their chances of playing into May all but fade these past few weeks.

Last Call: This shot was initially waived off, but eventually counted. You see, the clock hadn’t stopped after Christian Eyenga’s three and it appeared the ball left Bron’s hands too late. But it was eventually fixed, and yeah: Nice shot, dude.

I live in the Windy now, and these Bulls fans swear up and down they are the team to beat in the league. Its getting on my nerves. You would think Derrick Rose was the second coming of Jesus the way these cats are talking about him. Im not a hater, but they act like they arent playing with the same Jazz players that got abused in the Western Conference.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

The world will end on the last day of the world.
    Buy Apple and Google.
The anti-Christ profile is in the Bible.
But, on a serious tip, are you saying that you adopt a persona vastly different from the way you carry yourself in real life to participate in online interactions?
    Interesting.

  • ThaWindy

They so arrogant…. call his name…he taking a shipt!! Didnt even wash his hands! got in the game, got a triple double…lost!!(lolololol)…and moved on. Crazy…

  • http://slamonline.com The Fresh Prince of Nsam

JT u are quiet and laid back? really? Wow!
Rose deserve 2 b the MVP(and I’m not even a Bulls fan) the kid is having an INCREDIBLE season, carrying the f*ing Bulls to the 1st spot in the East. At the beginning of the season, I was not seeing the Bulls anywhere higher than the 4th place!!!
And why do Bulls fans care so much about the critics???
If people talk about you, at least it means u are relevant!
Respect will come when u really win it big and that’s what DRose has been doing this far…

  • ThaWindy

    I would invest rent a spoons…

  • http://pickand.tumblr.com airs

This has nothing to do with the recent topics, I just wanted to say, I too hate the baseball. You have no idea how annoying it is being surrounded by frat boy cubs fans and being 20 minutes late cuz of the traffic caused by wrigley field. Actually I’m sure some of you guys do. Okay, carry on!

  • JTaylor21

It’s not about “adopting a persona vastly different” because I don’t know how someone could tell how a person is in real life just by their typing skills.
So you’re telling me that you know what kind of person I am through our daily interactions on the internet?
It makes no sense to me but feel free to judge people by the fonts and quotation marks they use.

  • ThaWindy

    hahahahaha

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

Living out of state, people find out I’m from the Chicago area and it’s always, “so you a Cubs fan or a Sox fan?”
    Neither.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

We all use the same fonts.
Do you type things you don’t believe?
Do you adopt stances you wouldn’t adopt in real life?
Do you interact with people online in a different manner than you do with real life people?
Some people carry themselves pretty much the same whether they are typing or speaking, and other people have vastly different personas.
Nothing about the way you carry yourself on SLAM’s site says “quiet” or “laid back.”
Therefore, if that is how you carry yourself in real life, you have adopted a vastly different persona on these boards for some reason.
    Simple.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

I can tell by the way AllenP always has perfect looking comments that he’s either extremely organized or has OCD.

  • JTaylor21

Well since we are in the judging folks by how they type mood; you type like one of those gullible kids who get online thinking that the person on the other end is the tooth fairy when in reality it’s some 40 yr old mammal who’s trying to unleash the dragon.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re featured on a upcoming To Catch a Predator episode as the first grownup to be used as bait.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    LMAO and Enigmatic and JTaylor
    @Enigmatic
I’m very disorganized. But, I’m in a profession where paragraphs can be as short as one sentence, so when I type a complete thought in a sentence, I naturally hit “enter” before going on to the next topic.
    @Jtaylor
Are you saying I sound naive? That’s hilarious to me. Why do I sound naive? I’m curious. I’ve been called a lot of things online, on these very boards in fact, but that’s the first time I’ve been called naive.

  • http://google J-Ro

@ Enigmatic- thats why i guoted the “fans” part. Too many fools on here that claim they really are fans when in reality, their joining the bandwagon. Remember at the begginning of the season when Eboy wasnt the only Heat fan??

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

I was just messing with you, Allen.
I figured your being a journalist had something to do with it.
I can kinda see where JTaylor’s coming from.
You can be a quiet, laid back dude in real life and be outspoken in the internet cause I mean, how you gonna be a quiet, laid back dude on here?
Unless your comments consists of entries like “*sits quietly in corner reading others’ comments*” and “*nods his head in agreement to what AllenP typed*”.
You can be a completely louder person on public forums but really retain your personality, only it’s turned all the way up.
My boy Larry, God bless the dead, they used to call him “Silent” cause dude never spoke much.
Me and his brother, we were the only ones he really felt comfortable enough to be outspoken with.
But on that Xbox live or whenever he hit any internet forums, you’d swear he’d never shut up.
@J-RO – I mean, I can see maybe two or three more Bulls quote-fans-unqoute, but not many.
Not on the level the Heat were getting.

  • http://pickandroll.tumblr.com airs

if i had to pick, i’d be a sox fan. only cuz i think most cubs fans are douche bags. not all, some are cool.
but i can’t stand the baseball.

I don’t get the “Derrick Rose MVP is an insult to Chris Paul” thing. It’s not like Paul is having a season similar to his 08 campaign this year. He is having a great year considering he is fresh off of major surgery, a great year for most players, but a below average year by his own standards.
The way I see it, Kobe should have 1, he just got it in the wrong year. Nash should not have 2, nor should Dirk. If Paul gets close to full health, I’m sure he will get one too.
Now, Chris Paul’s 08 year was better than Derrick Rose current year, if you look at individual stats and team success in relation to the talent on the squad. Only Bulls homers will argue against that.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

    Dirk should not have 1*

  • http://pickandroll.tumblr.com airs

no argument from me here, Allball. cp3 shouldve got the mvp, and derrick does deserve it this year.
    HOWEVA
imma play nostradamus for a quick second and predict bulls get farther than the hornets did in 08.

  • JTaylor21

AllenP, nah I’m just clowning because even though I’ve enjoy reading many of your comments and articles, it still doesn’t mean that I know how you really are in real life.
You could be Ted Bundy reincarnated for all I know.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

His team had more success in ’07-08, but statistically, I think Chris Paul’s ’08-09 year was probably the best of any point guard’s in the 21st century.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

    22.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 11.0 apg, 2.8 spg, .503 FG%

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

I would be surprised if the Bulls have less success than that Hornets team, but I am done with predictions.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

I just read the article. It didn’t make me think D Rose should not get it. It did make me think that Chris Paul was criminally robbed.
Steve Nash MVP awards are more of an insult, and more undeserved, than Rose’. Who can the award really be given to this year, besides Rose?

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

I read the article too, and it sounds like another stats guy whining about his boy not getting the MVP award a few seasons ago (which I think he deserved too, but the f*ck does that have to do with Rose?)
“For the record, if I had an MVP vote, it would absolutely go to Dwight Howard (26.18 PER, 14.3 RPG, and 2.41 BPG each rank 2nd in the NBA, and his team would be a complete wreck without him)”
    Stats, stats, stats!
While not a complete wreck, his team has the 8th best record in the NBA WITH him!

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

    Juwan Howard.
Still keepin’ it gangsta after all these years.
    One of Chi-town’s finest!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

The Knicks are just putrid on defense.

  • JTaylor21

Enigmatic, you looking forward to the McDonald’s all star game tonight?
There’s a couple of nice cats from Illinois including ADavis who might be the best player from the ’11 class. He’s going to Kentucky, so the rich get richer.
It’s amazing the way Coach Cal no matter where he coaches at, continues to get top recruits year after year.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Does Amare understand the basics of rebounding? It doesn’t cont as boxing out if you don’t actually touch someone. He just turns his back and.boxes out the air! Hilarious.

  • JTaylor21

I saw the same thing. The last one when he decided to just push the guy instead of boxing out was downright comical.
There’s no excuse allowing the Nets to score 68pts at the half and BLopez is out there looking like the Dream on the offensive end.

LOL! At Hubie just brushing off his partners Biz Markie and Jay-Z references.
Damn it, Hubie only wants to talk ball!

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

I doubt it Allen, I mean I understand the basics of rebounding and Im 16, yet he’s in the NBA and still hasn’t learned

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Willie Green with the put back hammer!!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Should Avery have called timeout or let them play before the Knicks got set?
Does Dantoni do anything special on defense?

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

That was agreat look for dwil. Should have hit that that is his shot.

Man, I got home hella late and had recorded the Bulls game and the McD’s game on the DVR but only had time to watch one so I watched that Bulls game and will have to watch the McDonalds game later.
JTaylor, yeah Davis and Blackshear both played in it.
Tell you what, as good as Davis is, the best HS player in Chicago is Jabari Parker out of Simeon, Derrick Rose’s alma mater.
    And he’s only a Sophomore.

nick tha quick nailed it with this: ^^^ You know you’re irrelevant to SLAM discussions when you keep trying to get into conversations like Bull22 and everyone ignores every single thing you write and YET you keep on writing!
