Rudy Gay Opts for Surgery, Out For Season

Gay will miss the Grizzlies‘ first Playoff run since 2006 in order to repair his dislocated non-shooting shoulder. From the Memphis Commercial Appeal: “Grizzlies small forward Rudy Gay will miss the rest of this season after a second opinion on his partially dislocated left shoulder determined that the injury requires surgery. Gay received the news after traveling to Birmingham, Ala., to visit renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. ‘I’ve never really been hurt. I’ve never had anything shut me down,’ Gay said. ‘There’s really no brace or anything I can wear to make it better. I have to have the surgery.’”

Man, this sucks… Gay is one of my favourite players, I was hoping he’d be back to help Memphis in the first round of the playoffs. Guess that’s a no-no now. Alas, he’ll come back stronger next season.

Wowwww…not going to pretend that the Grizzlies are close to the same level as the spurs, but wit Rudy Gay in the lineup, maybe they can pull one of those once in a blue moon first round upsets…grizzlies will miss him dearly.

Dang I guess my first round upset is a no go.

mephis frontline is one of the best in the league and they have a pretty good record against many of the top teams, so a first round upset with rudy in the lineup certainly shouldn’t have been out of the question although unlikely for the simple fact that they play gregg popovich and the spurs, I’d say that might’ve been a great first round series, a similar one to those bulls-celtics 09

Awesome news for the Rockets. Maybe we can get that 8th seed now? Spurs/Rockets playoff would be pretty nice.
