Spurs Sign Da’Sean Butler

After being waived from the Heat earlier in the season, former WVU Mountaineer Da’Sean Butler has made his way back to the NBA, reportedly signing with the San Antonio Spurs.

smart move by the spurs, that’s why they keep on being contenders year after year because they pick up guys that can play but don’t get chances from other teams like blair and tiago.

  • burnt_chicken

i think they drafted both of those guys.

Fuck off. Da’Sean. You used the Heat for 8 months to rehab and wouldn’t stay ’cause you have to play behind Lebron James? Hope your career careens into oblivion.

Fu*k off. Da’Sean. You used the Heat and their facilities for 8 months AND getting money this season and next from them to rehab and wouldn’t stay ’cause you have to play behind Lebron James if you made it to the active roster? Hope your career careens into oblivion.

good.. now trade him to jersey. Make it happen MIKHAL lOL ….(SHOUTOUT TO THE STUPID KNICKS FAN)

  • Anthony

@EBOY SINCE WHEN did he have a choice to stay…. SOUND LIKE A HATER

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

He was offered a deal and turned it down for “potential” playing time. He’s a bi*ch.

  • lrw4wvu

@eboy, the Heat released Da’Sean Butler, he didn’t use anyone, he’s just going to go where he’s needed and wanted

  • Mikey P.

Eboy what does it matter to you? Da’Sean did what was best for him, not too mention the Spurs are a much better team. Millions of people would have done the exact same thing.

  • http://dodgers.com Joey E.

who cares Eboy. It’s Da’Sean F’n Butler man

  • Jmac

@Eboy-what’s so bad about a player wanting play time?

  • Anthony

if im a rookie and im not playn im goin to the first place dats gon offer sumthn better, especially since the spurs know how to win. All the heat need on their squad is big men and shooters.. Dbutler aint dat hes a scorer.

Oddly, when a player is disloyal to a team, he’s labelled either a coc*sucker or a maverick. The Heat only cut him to free a roster spot when it was deemed him having a season ending injury. Since then, he’s been in Miami using the Heat’s facilities, resources and coaches to work on his rehab. I’m not expecting loyalty (there is none anymore)but how about a bit of dignity…especially when you’re collecting tywo years of salary and you haven’t played a single pro game yet.

Eboy, I agree 100%. I did not realise that was Butlers situation.

  • Jono

    Co-sign Joey E, it’s friggin Da’Sean Butler.

  • franklin murray

Eboy. That’s a huge lie. A huge lie. The heat hadn’t offered him a contract– so the playing time this is bull. Where on earth did you get that information. The team that drafted and subsequently cut da’sean have fifteen roster spots filled. What favor should he return? If he owes them something the team that drafted him owed him a spot on their roster this season. Their loss.

  • Zabba

Eboy, you don’t know the whole story. I don’t either.

  • Jose

Damnit, i wanted butler to stay. . . . =/ oh well. he’ll do what he gotta do

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

I do, Zabba and what I wrote is accurate.

  • Ben Ireland

@Eboy The Heat cut him… Was he even paid by the Heat? He was waived after training camp, not for a roster spot.
And the guy is the nicest kid ever, give him a break. The Heat cut him. The Spurs want to pay him and play him. No brainer? He’s a solid player too, he could be very good in a few years.

  • JoeMaMa

The guy got cut by his team. I don’t care if they take him away for vacations in Tahiti, he got cut from his team. And then a championship contender with great coaching and players decides to sign him. And he comes out a loser in this? Nope. This Eboy guy forgot to take off his fan glasses when reading this story. Don’t hate a guy for making the most of his situation. Move on.

Eboy is right, guys. He got 2 years of partial guarantee (450K & 780K next year, or something in that area) and he’s been down here rehabbing in the Heat’s facilities. But the Heat spends $$ like that alot and seemingly doesn’t mind watching those dollars walk out the door. I’m not saying it’s good or bad business, it’s just the way they seem to operate. Now if Butler got a multi-year deal from San Antonio and has watched them give their young guys playing time and develop them to their potential, then I really don’t have a problem with dude signing with San Antonio. Look, the Heat don’t have a good record of developing their young guys. It seems like, historically (and not counting DWade) rookies ride the pine for several years and maybe get in games if they play a position that is lacking on the team, like Chalmers for instance. Otherwise, guys like Cook and Wright, to take more recent examples, don’t flourish until they move on from the team. It’ll be interesting if Butler ends up like Blair and Neal, getting playing time and developing into very useful pieces of a championship-caliber team.

  • Noel

Did Da’sean lie to the Heat? Intentionally keep them in the dark about what he wanted to do? If not then good for him. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. Also, what Joey E said.

  • AirMamba

Nice pick up by the spurs. I dont like the spurs, but dasean butler is a stud

  • yes.we.did.

Really wanted him to stay In mia, but I’m happy he found an nba home. Do ya thing young man.

  • greg

how can you complian about loyalty on a team that has lebron

  • floe

    eboy is gay for butler.

  • dako24

    Eboy is just gay.

  • elmaar

eboy is talking like he’s Virgen de Guadalupe
and he’s not even Micky Arison

  • http://www.slamonline.com Mars

wow..it’s De’Sean Butler guys. Let him play a game first. Good luck with the Spurs, not a bad trade off to go from Miami to San Antonio

Would have been a lotter pick last year if not for the acl tear

  • Trout

Didn’t the question of loyalty come up when a certain player left Cleveland to go to Miami and didn’t these same Miami fans say he did what was best for him? Or does loyalty only matter when you are a ‘marquee’ player?

At the end of the day he did what was best for him and gettting more playing time. Wishing dude has a terible career because he left your team is no more dignified than him leaving.

eboy needs to get a life lol

  • Adrian Zapata

We welcome Mr Butler with open arms down here in San Antonio.

  • MikeC.

    Wait, who is Da’Sean Butler?

  • SMIK

sick of this guy eboy’s comments on every slam story, seriously dude your opinion is not majority and your biased comes off like a broken record, just like your double post. Hating on player who hasn’t had a single NBA game played is pretty pathetic just like your opinions which are usually very misguided.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

  • SMIK

wow! your a very mature person aren’t you? a ten year old could’ve thought of that. what a joke.

  • r2j

Eboy tweaking too hard. Miami cut him, he went to rehab, he’s healthy and now he’s playing with the Spurs. Miami dumb, San Antonio geniuses.

  • Originator

Hey @Eboy remember last year you where so certain a certain chicago bulls player had no shot at the MVP. Your opinion is at an all time low. I was pretty sure you would change your name. Im 100% sure you wont respond to this, and if you do itll b about something thats has nothing to do with how wrong you were.

  • bigballer

Eboy needs to learn the nba better! your a dumbass
