2011 Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

Chris Mullin and Dennis Rodman will highlight the Class of ’11, which also includes Artis Gilmore, Arvydas Sabonis, Teresa Edwards and a three worthy coaches. Via Yahoo! Sports: “Dennis Rodman, Chris Mullin and a trio of coaching legends are part of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2011. Coaches Tex Winter, innovator of the ‘Triangle’ offense, Stanford’s Tara VanDerveer and Philadelphia University’s Herb Magee were part of the class announced Monday at the Final Four in Houston. ‘It’s cool, man. It’s a great feeling,’ Rodman said. Longtime NBA and ABA star Artis Gilmore, former Portland TrailBlazers center Arvydas Sabonis and Olympic gold medalist Teresa Edwards also will be inducted. They are joined by Harlem Globetrotter Reece ‘Goose’ Tatum and Boston Celtic Tom ‘Satch’ Sanders. The class will be formally inducted in Springfield, Mass., in August.”

but if Chris Mullin made it, something tells me Reggie should too. i dont know. i understand mullin has more accolades and i think a better career (havent compared them yet), but i still feel Reggie got snubbed

And Artis Gilmore finally gets in. Nice! Congratulations to Rodman and Sabonis – two of my favourite guys to watch back in the day.

Finally Artis Gilmore makes it! Wow that took a long @ss time, but I’m glad for him. Reggie Miller was the biggest snub, but he’ll get in eventually. Tex Winter (still one of the coolest names ever!) definitely deserved it too.
    Congrats to all of youz!

As a Bulls fan, of course I’m happiest for Dennis Rodman and Tex Winter.
Little known-fact about Winter – his real name is Morice. They called him “Tex” cause he’s from Texas originally.

Gilmore finally made it. I’m speechless. Enigmatic, you do realize that he also had a pretty damn stellar tenure with the Bulls?

How does Artis Gilmore not headline this? He was at least as good as Mullins, better than Rodmam…

  • Tuomas

Was thinking the same. Underrated even when he gets in I guess.

    I’m also happy for Arvydas–well-deserved.
And if Arvydas gets in, this must mean Yao will make it eventually too, right?
