2011 NBA Draft Entries Update

The 2011 NBA Draft entry list continues to grow by the day. Rumors have spread that a few more others are contemplating on testing the NBA waters.

Tennessee’s Scotty Hopson and Tobias Harris are reportedly going to put their names in the NBA Draft but not sign with an agent. Although an official statement by the players or the program hasn’t been made yet, govolsxtra.com’s Mike Griffith recently tweeted on it.

And while Kansas Jayhawks’ Tyshawn Taylor and Thomas Robinson announced yesterday that they will be returning next season, guard Josh Selby seems to possibly be on his way out. Selby has missed class this week, in order to travel to Las Vegas and workout at the Impact Basketball Academy, where he is looking to “get a feel for where he’d potentially be” in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Selby’s teammates brothers Marcus and Markieff Morris reportedly met with an agent in Los Angeles last week and are close to making a decision on whether to return to Kansas for another season.

With North Carolina’s Tyler Zeller and John Henson announcing yesterday their commitment to the Tar Heel program for next season, the focus will now shift to super freshman Harrison Barnes — whose decision might take a while.

Others who’ve recently announced their intentions to enter the 2011 NBA Draft or test the waters are Illini’s Jereme Richmond, Georgia’s Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie, and Georgia Tech’s Iman Shumpert.

So, whose the hands-down #1 overall pick this summer?

  • tom

For me, it´s Kemba Walker. Closely followed by Derrick Williams.

Id go with Irving, unless i already had a stellar point guard.. in that case i would choose either harrison barnes, derrick williams, or perry jones

Get your name in their Barnes!
and @BossTerry, it’s a throw up between Irving and Derrick Williams. Though the hype around Irving has been growing so much he’ll probably go first.

    *there.

Perry Jones please go back to school for another year

**IMAN SHUMPERT WILL BE THE STEAL OF THIS DRAFT** 6’5″ PG with his skills will be great in the league.

If anyone from the Knicks sees this, please look at this kid!! Next Landry Fields (in terms of being a steal).

  • ai come back

jereme richmond needs to stay another year

I would take Derrick Williams number one, reminds me of Blake, but Williams could shoot in college and Blake still can’t. Irving can play, but Duke players in the NBA suck. Period. Also Harrison Barnes, remember Joe Forte, that should tell you what you need to do and maybe next year you are the number one pick. BOOK IT!!

Man, this is a sucky draft year…

  • Josh

@Jukai, might be a lack of stars, but there seems to be some talent doesn’t there? Guys who might not be a center piece, but will definitely carve out a nice career being a solid contributer?

    Kemba gets no love

  • http://www.slamonline.com c_cantrell

    ^mars..
irving is more ready to hit the big stage than both williams and harrison

  • riz

i think the way the draft breaks down will probably surprise and disappoint most fans. With the confusion of who’s number one, everyone’s name will be thrown around without a whole lot of thought. At least from a fan standpoint.

  • rondo4mvp

Derrick williams uncontested first overall pick blake griffin with a jump shot and a post game

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

cosign Eldon. Perry is raw like sushi right now. lol

  • Luiyo

North Carolina will be REALLY good next year, even without Barnes. They will get PJ Hairston and James McAdoo to play with Marshall, Henson and Zeller, that will be a killer matchup for anyone. If Barnes stays they will be pre-season favorites for sure!

  • http://www.slamonline.com c_cantrell

    ^rondo4mvp..
derrick williams is no blake griffin, not even close.. your a moron

  • r2j

Looks like Williams or Irving will be number 1 picks. Kemba will be a great player coming off the bench, the sleepers are Leslie, Alec Burks from Colorado and Shelvin Mack despite the performance in the title game. This is draft will be interesting to watch.

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

Is Alec Burks really a sleeper? I’ve read around that scouts love him. I figure he’s around top 10 but might get drafted in the 10-15 range.

we need to know how tall williams is and he is not going to be a pure 4 in the nba he will be more like micheal beasly, not saying thats a bad thing cuz he drops 20 a game if cleveland gets 1 pick they get irving, if sota gets it they prolly trade the pick, if SAC gets it they will take williams or jones. it all depends right now, but i dont think any team will be announcing who they are going to take 1 or 2 just so they can see what trade offers they get if they really want to move up and snag irving, i wouldnt draft a pg though because pgs grow on trees

  • Michel, holland

Are you kiddin me, Kemba is the only nr one pick, for me at least… followed up by derick williams.. irving is not a good first pick, he missed almost the entire season and its better for him too stay one year. we will all be shocked at the draft, im pretty sure of that.
