Amar’e Stoudemire Not Sure He Can Play in Game 4

According to the NY Times, the chances of Amar’e Stoudemire suiting up for Game 4 tomorrow are slim to none: “When he was asked if it was worth subjecting his body to another afternoon of punishment, Stoudemire demurred. ‘The future here with the Knicks organization is very bright, and you don’t want to hinder that by doing too much right now on the back,’ he said Saturday. ‘We did a phenomenal job this year so far with making the playoffs. Obviously, we wanted to have a better run in the postseason.’ Stoudemire stopped short of declaring himself out of Game 4, but he gave every indication that he was leaning that way. He said his type of injury usually required three to four weeks to heal — a point he made several times. ’It’s a strained back muscle,’ he said. ‘So there’s a chance of straining it more, there’s a chance of overcompensating and having another injury. So there’s definitely some risks of playing with a strained back. And I’m not sure we want to take that risk right now when we have such a great future ahead of us.’”

This is understandable. Its just like when kobe quit against the phoenix suns in the playoffs to give his teammates a chance to develop some chemistry

@James, it isn’t like that at all really. Kobe wanted to prove a point, Amare doesn’t want to play.

The same dude who called Pau Gasol soff? It’s the playoffs Amare, man up.

Amare won’t play in game 4…he wants no part of a first round sweep.

Agreed with the comments. When Amare said, that Gasol is soft i knew he was not the right man to say that.

None of you obviously have had a back injury. That stuff is really painful, serious and can cause a lot of trouble if not healed properly.

If it could cause major damage for the future, why should he play? It’s not even like game 4 is decisive anyway; gonna be a Celtics series win anyway. Totally different to Kobe, who quit on his team.
