Caron Butler could return vs Lakers

Talk about a bad start to your year. On January 1st, Maverick forward Caron Butler ruptured his right patellar tendon, subsequently undergoing surgery and eyeing a lengthy recovery period. Dallas originally announced Butler would be out for the season, but the veteran has worked tirelessly to get back in shape and attempt a playoff return. From ESPN:While leaving the Rose Garden after the Mavericks’ series-clinching win over the Portland Trail Blazers, Butler said he could be cleared to practice with contact after being evaluated in a workout when the team returns to Dallas. He expressed optimism that he would be able to play at some point during the Western Conference semifinals against the Lakers. ‘I hope so,’ Butler told ESPNDallas.com. ‘We’ve got to get back and see.’ Butler, a two-time All-Star who formed a close friendship with Kobe Bryant while playing for the Lakers in 2004-05, averaged 15.0 points per game and excelled defensively this season. The Mavericks were 24-7 when Butler got hurt in Milwaukee, with dozens of friends and family members from his hometown of Racine, Wis., in attendance. Although Butler probably wouldn’t play heavy minutes, his return could be especially inspiring to teammates who have witnessed him rehab relentlessly while maintaining a leadership role for the Mavericks. ’I just want to see him in layup lines,’ Jason Terry said. ‘If he can get up in layup lines, it’s going to boost us immensely emotionally. He’s been here the whole way, though. This guy has worked so hard to get ready for this series.’”

  • andre anglais

    tuff juice!
could be a series changer. Man, I am excited by Dallas-LA and Bos-Miami

  • rich

so hes going to return play no defense and keep peja from scoring more points and stretching the floor while also playing no defense. Jim carrey really needs to pay attention to butler if hes out there because this could either go really good or really bad

there is nothing more satisfying than watching the Fakers lose. All the Mavs have to do is play tougher and be physical. Dirk vs Gasol thats some Euro stuff right there, lol. Exciting s*** right there!!! If Mavs take game one they’ll take that series, but if the Lakers win, its theirs.!!! I’m still riding with the Thunder cats who ever comes out between these two!!!

Dirk vs. Gasol… it’s like pampers vs. huggies, which one is softer?

  • vtrobot

JUICE!!!! Kwame for Caron? That was amazing. There was the one hard block that Kwame had against that dude’s birthday cake.

  • robb

    Soft but technically- advanced

  • vtrobot

Yeah! The German is soft. People are still saying that huh? Do you watch basketball? If you’re talking soft, feel free to mention Pau, but don’t talk about Dirk. Compare the number of games that each have had where they weren’t a factor at all? Compare the number of games where they completely took over and dominated at the end of a game. Compare the number of game winners. Compare the 4th quarter free throw percentages. Then GTHFOH.

  • Krisjanis

and then compare how many rings got Gasol and Dirk. Oh yeah, and Lakers will win this year, so count Gasol’s 3 rings.

tuff juice is the beck nickname in pro sports.

  • TR

If you think Pau Gasol is worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Dirk, you’re a straight up fool

  • hoodsnake

    He is not playing. Sorry.

  • Roc

TR, Pau Gasol has been the best big man in the playoffs the last two years, and has a much better inside game than Dirk. Dirk is shooting at 47% from the field on his career, which isn’t particulary good for a 4 (Pau is at 52% on his career ;) …It seems that Dirk’s legacy will always be falling flat on his face under the beaming lights of the playoffs…Meanwhile Gasol has 2 rings, going on 3.

  • H-Reezy

ayo Roc, best big man in da playoffs the last two years? you trippin. How about Dwight Howard? How about my main man KG or even Kendrick Perkins? Yeah Pau got the rings, but he sure as hell ain’t gettin the credit. That right there goes to Kobe Bryant. Also lets be real, Pau got nothin on Z-BO this year. Grizz straight gone in.
