Detroit Pistons Sold to Billionaire

After much speculation, it appears the Pistons have finally been sold. Via ESPN: “Billionaire investor Tom Gores has agreed to buy the Detroit Pistons and other properties. The tentative deal announced Friday must be approved by the NBA. It includes the team, The Palace of Auburn Hills and DTE Energy Music Theatre. Gores is buying the properties from Karen Davidson, who became the owner after her husband, Bill, died in March 2009. Gores is the chairman and CEO of Platinum Equity.”

Sweet…glad a Michigan native bought them. Hopefully he doesn’t move them downtown.

Maybe now they can go about shedding some of those horrendous contracts and start over. Oops, Isiah isn’t running a team any more. Sorry, Joe D. Nobody wants Charlie V. Besides, I heard somewhere that he’s a cancer to his team and the league.

What would be wrong with moving them downtown? It’d be good for the city. I’m glad this crap is over though. Being a Pistons fan has sucked for the past three years, maybe this will push the organization in the right direction.

Because the palace is 100% paid for and is a great facility. Plus it’s in a safe area and it’s easy to get to. I agree though, being a Pistons fan has been rough lately, especially living out here in Laker land (barf). Hopefully this owner is committed to winning and doesn’t mind going over the salary cap.

  • Yep

I was hoping it would be billionaire investor Tom Gores to buy the team
