Glen Davis Believes Boston is ‘Way Deeper Than Miami’

What is arguably the most anticipated NBA Playoff series tips off on Sunday, and just in time, Big Baby is talking smack (something his coach refuses to feed into.) Reports WEEI: “I feel like our bench is way stronger than theirs,’ Davis said. ‘We’re way deeper than them. We just have to make sure we use our depth.’ The Heat have primarily used three reserves in their first round series with Philadelphia — Joel Anthony, Mario Chalmers and James Jones — but they may get a boost if Udonis Haslem is able to return from foot surgery that has kept him out since late November. An ineffective Mike Miller has fallen out of the rotation. The Celtics may be deeper on paper, but their second unit didn’t exactly distinguish itself in their series with the Knicks except for a strong showing in the first half of Game 4. Rivers feels like he has gained some insight from that series, however. ‘We knew what the starters could do,’ Rivers said. ‘We weren’t sure what the fifth guy with the starters could do and you had no idea going into a playoff series what your bench, not only what they were going to give you, but what worked for them. As the playoffs went on we kind of figured out more and more what they’re comfortable with, what they can’t run more than what they can run.’ Despite their struggles, Rivers was encouraged by some of what he saw in New York, particularly on the block. ‘The one thing they do well is post,’ Rivers said. ‘That second group is a great post group. Jeff Green, Delonte [West] and Baby, so we have to try to run a package more suited to them.’”

  • Sincere

100% right…heat win in six games ova the over hype boston cs look d wade and lebron with is still da mvp been knocked out by the cs so they are looking to put a end to there run….if it wasnt no Injury to the knicks could we even be talkin about the cs

  • Ali

This clown again… Of all the MIA reserves Mike Miller needs to finally show and prove why he was on the cover of the SportingNews mag this past Oct! They was claiming back then he would be the key to a chip. Show me something.

    Doc Rivers is annoying.

  • robb

    NOM NOMMMM NOOMM

  • http://slamonline.com Yknot

Translation I’m on the bench and want more minutes, so I’m going to say that’s our best weapon to beat the Heatles.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

    So is Spo.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

And Thibs. All three of those guys will blame the referees before beginning to question the players, yet all 3 respective teams usually get a good whistle.

  • k Dub

    Boston in 6 or 7

  • givard

To bad there’s only 5 players on the court at a time, else the depth would be really important… Bron and wade are both capable of playing 38-42 minutes a game, so it want be a bench vs. Bench situation

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

And I hate Spos moronic grin.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Max

    No kidding Sherlock

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

But, I am looking forward to this series. May the best team win.

  • http://slamonline.com BigBlockMopar+Basketball

And L.A. is ‘Way deeper than Boston’ :-)

  • Bruno

this series has to go 7 games

  • Bimmer

    Who’s bench isn’t?

  • Jer dawg

I would love to see lots of hatred between these two team. Probably lots of techs immediately, but hopefully refs will warn them first and let it go. We need to let the players play. Really excited thinking about possibilties. Miami possibly getting to finals, Boston getting there, and Chicago. Big markets all heading to meet Lakers in NBA Finals.
I kind of want Celtics there in the Finals again. It’s technically 1-1 NBA Finals between the two teams. Let these 2011 NBA finals decide the best of 3.

  • dsleepy

i don’t know about this… of course the C’s do have more depth yeah, but is it really necessary to give the opponent more emotional fuel? he should just keep his mouth shut and play ball. this is going to be a great series. boston in 7, or miami in 6 if they can manage to steal a game in BOS

  • http://nba.com EJ

Should’ve kept Perk and Nate. Dumbass move, but I’m glad it happened cause Boston sucks.

  • burnt_chicken

is Haslem in game shape? If he is going to play in this series, I’m surprised he didn’t get a few minutes of burn in the Philly series, both to be evaluated and to get back to game speed.

  • smoovemann

    celts in 6 .

  • T-Money

Miami’s bench at full strength is really not that bad. Word is UD and Mike Miller could have played in games 4-5 but Miami didn’t feel it was necessary to take of the Sixers. UD, Mike Miller, Joel Anthony, Rio Chalmers, James Jones, Erick Dampier. That’s not a bad bench.

  • http://aol.com Run”N’Gun219

CAN SPO PLEASE PUT EDDIE HOUSE IN THE FU(KING ROTATION.

  • Ali

    Erick Dampier, Hahaha…..

  • burnt_chicken

    why isn’t House getting minutes?

  • Yesse

I wouldn’t really take Glen’s advice, but i still think the Celtics are winning.

  • Feez22

jermaine oneal will be a footstool in this series. The celtics may eventually win… but it won’t be because of the celtics centers that decided to own the crappy knicks.

  • ernied

Turns out Jermaine has been solid at Center for the first round. It hasn’t mattered this season who the starter was this season… Big Baby is on the floor in crunch time. He has more speed and hustle than any other big out there. KG has got the height, but baby got back.

Meanwhile. The stats for Perkins in the first round were not all merely okay. He is a body that clogs the middle and makes people pay for driving to the rim. I trust JO has been in the NBA long enough to know how to do all of the the things Perk does, and then some. As long as his knee holds up (and he looked great against NY) I am more concerned with their second unit than who starts at the Center.

  • Piggy

why is the punter talking s***?

  • Eddie

This is old news. He said this a week ago. Ish.

  • RobbieJay

i want to see if rondo tries that poking in the team huddle ish again. childish

  • jimmer

Miami can’t win this series. And its got nothing whatsoever to do with the respective benches, and everything to do with the first 5′s.

  • CONEY ISLANDER

I miss the old NBA where only allstars were allowed to speak or have opinions.

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

miami in 6 maybe 7…you guys are tripping(coney islander) if you think the heat can’t win this series. also nothing about JO looked great in the bosto-ny series smh

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Gonna be a hell of a series

  • http://slamonline Brion

I hate the way Miamis been starting out games, no fire or emotion, that wont fly against the C’s. Also hoping E.House will get some quality minutes against his old team.

  • Heals

Just shut up already Glen, first STAT is easy to guard and now he is bragging about the depth of the C’s bench crew. C’mon now, Amare was easy to guard cause he blew by you every possession and Bos has such a deep bench cause they don’t have 2 guys you can count on on a nightly basis. The bench has been eerily undrewhelming and dude still feels the need to run his mouth. Here’s to hoping that JO is getting 4th quarter crunch time mins cause Baby can’t rebound vs or guard anybody over 6’9″… Ahhh deep breath, exhale…

  • bmorezbest

heat in 5 i love boston fans, so loyal but without perkins there is gonna be a problem and rajon cant post up chalmers like he did toney douglas and just look they played against the knicks 2nd string mostly the whole series they tuned up against (besides melo of course and you cant count a 50% amare) players who will be D leaguers next season miami will be playin with a smoother chemistry than we saw in the regular season and if udonis comes back you can silence all that bench talk because a “healthy” haslem will fry big baby and jeff green is a notorius underacheiver
