Heat Consider Signing Eddy Curry for Playoffs

Somehow, it’s tough to imagine Eddy Curry playing minutes on a contender. Which begs the question: Are the Heat truly putting themselves in a position to contend with the Lakers, Celtics and Spurs of the League? Via Yahoo: “The Miami Heat are progressing toward signing center Eddy Curry for the playoffs, front office sources told Yahoo! Sports. After Heat president Pat Riley watched Curry work out in Chicago in recent days, he’s made plans to bring the 7-footer to Miami early next week for another workout and a medical physical with the ultimate objective to sign him, sources said.”

I’m waiting for Eddie’s ESPN special: “the Decision” live from Krispy Kreme.

  • RobbieJay

    M Cho won

  • mike

I’ll be taking my rolls of fat to South Beach…

  • aL3x_002

I don’t know if that’s such a great idea for Miami. The likely “odd-one-out is HEAT rookie Dexter Pittman, but I think he has potential, and also, is Eddy Curry really worth it?

  • mike

Eddy: This is tough (said as he chews steak)…but I’ll be taking my talents to South Beach. They have great Cuban cuisine.

  • Cool Dude

Doesn’t the heat’s constant signings of past prime players remind you of a fantasy league owner grasping for that straws and adding someone new every week?

Any good team has to have atleast five centers.

  • Riggs

im going to go invest in miamis food industry.

  • T-Money

Cant be worse than joel. If he still has his touch, great. If not, you sit him like boston is doing with murph.

IF…(and thats a decent sized IF) they do win the championship I think Eddy Currys championship ring should have an asterisk next to it…a big ol’ juicy plump perfectly fried asterisk.

Can I also add that when I came on here, and read everyones comments prior to mine, they were all hilarious. Today starts beautifully. have a good one.

Wait isn’t this the team with the strictest body fat % policy in the league?

  • knickzvet82

This just in: Miami fined for exceeding body fat % cap.

The Heat may fail they may succeed but is has been a pretty fun ride so far.

  • Fat Lever

If the Heat are seriously considering this, Joel Anthony and Z should consider quitting…life.

  • FLIGHT 9

The Heat should sign Chicken Curry to add more meat in their frontline. If they do I think Celtics be aware… seriously :~)

Why not try to go after Sheed? Atleast he could actually be productive unlike Eddy Curry

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

There’s a typo in the first line. I’ll fix it for you. “Somehow, it’s tough to imagine Eddy Curry playing.”
    There we go.

This is the guy you call when all your other centers suck? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Ha.

  • James aka…

I think we should be doing a suicide watch on Eboy. They would be better off dusting off arvydas sabonis or david robinson

  • UKnowwhothisbe

Well, at least LBJ and Wade will have a float to ride on when they win the chip.

  • Fat Lever

BET, this is the guy you call when you want to pop a medicine ball, and that’s about it. This guy is Jerome James times 10.

  • rich

nah sabonis would just be like ” wtf is this pf james trying to play pg”

  • JoeMaMa

Say what you will, but he’s living an American Drean. Not THE american dream, but AN american dream. Fame, money, food, sexual overtones to limosine chauffeurs. Well done, Eddy.

  • gentron33

Lmbao!!!@M CHO Krispy Kreme lol hell nah Im still laughin’.

  • diego

he was playing great before the dantoni era

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

Eddy curry can score on the post, he got a little game, but that does not mean anything when you are lazy. the spurs should try and get more depth at center otherwise they aint beating the lakers.

  • MikeC.

We’re about to see a drastic shift in South Beach employment. Limo drivers are all going to quit and apply for restaurant jobs.

In other news, Hostess has moved its headquarters to Miami and renovations were required on the Heat’s arena: the floorboards needed to be reinforced.

  • doyouwantmore

    Eddy Curry huh? Okaayyy.

  • D12FSU

M Cho just made me laugh for a solid minute. This would be a hilarious signing.

  • Yesse

He use to be pretty good like 4 years ago, but i don’t think this is such is good idea if he is going to be having a decent role.

  • http://www.laumol.nl/weblog Laumol

That’ll be a great addition and example for Chris Bosh how to run the post. They could damn near better sign ME (I’m cheaper).

  • feez22

chill people. he will just be brought to teach bosh how to eat.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Pardeep

Okay listen up I really hope this goes through and Eddy gets a chance to do something good, I feel bad for the dude he has been a laughing stock for so many years now and his NBA career has been hell for him because of ignorant fans… who knows how much weight he lost imagine if he goes out there and is the X-Factor for the Heat and they win a title because of him it would be a feel good story for the poor guy, he has a chance to change his life now I wish him well.

  • 6marjons

thats a big ol’ panic button to push

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com Michael NZ

    Will play for food?

  • EtheKnickFan

Whew, Glad Walsh couldn’t get this done.

  • Krisjanis

Y’all forgot that Miami Heat isn’t a contender?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Mars

Eddy Curry is legit. Don’t gotta be in shape to be 7-ft-tall. Bosh don’t play center so, Howard, Curry, Z rotate Bibby and Miller, Jones, that’s not bad. Contender confirmed.

  • Mack

Who cares….. Eddy Curry is basically Dexter Pittman with skill but older, so why are they signing him? And why the F**K do they need another center?? They already drafted Pittman, and they have about 5 more on contract.

  • Riggs

they should look into the D-League

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

    Co-sign Pardeep.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/officerbarbrady what

The last time the Heat signed a washed up fat guy, Antoine Walker won his only ring. Maybe there’s something to this.

  • d payne

Why isn’t it a good choice signing a 7 foot big man that’s played the game and gives them 6 more fouls. Y’all judgin him off what he did against some of the most talented people in the world he was ok wen he played for the bulls and knicks I bet y’all couldn’t gaurd or stop him leave the man alone and let him play! I bet he would b a good part to their team and joel tho? Joel Anthony is a bonified lock down defender he’s proven himself against dwight howard, pau gasol, amare, and various others.
