Jerry Sloan May Consider Return to Coaching

After resigning earlier this season, most figured Jerry Sloan’s coaching days were officially over. The Star Tribune is reporting that might not be the case. “Jerry Sloan declared ‘I’m not looking for another job’ when he resigned in February as Utah’s coach after 23 seasons there, but he hasn’t necessarily retired for good. Sloan would listen if another team approached him, according to a source who has spoken to Sloan recently, and would seriously consider the right situation. But he won’t actively seek another job or have anyone campaign for him. Almost alone among NBA coaches, Sloan, who turned 69 a week ago, doesn’t have an agent.”

    Please coach the Knicks !

Stay away from the Knicks; Sloan’s better of in Minny. Make it happen, Walsh.

I think if Sloan coached the Knicks, he’d end up murdering everyone except for Landry Fields.

    he belongs back in Utah

Jerry probably told management to trade DWill or he was going to walk. They called his bluff, found out he wasn’t bluffing, and then traded DWill to show Sloan they wanted him to finish in Utah. He made a power play and will be back on the Jazz bench soon.

Please, let this be true. He deserves a COY award at least once, if not a ring.

  • Turk

Pacers, Vogels ok, but cant resist this

  • J.C.

@doyouwantmore – Then why do you want him back with the Jazz…?

  • HeavenCent

@doyouwantmore actually, i have atheory that im surprised hasn’t been explored much. What if Sloan resigned BECAUSE he knew DWill was gonna get traded? Maybe management told him in advance that they were shopping him and he thought that was a very bad idea. I mean, that’s a whole lot more plausible to me than DWill being able to force him to retire…

any team would kill to get him as their coach. He’s not going back to Utah forget about it.

  • floe

    bring him to the raptors.

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

Sloan can only run the pick-and-roll. His teams lose against teams that can defend the pick-and-roll well. He said it himself – loyalty is the reason he was in Utah as long as he was. In Minnesota, Miami, Charlotte or anywhere else he’d be on his behind in three years for failing to get past the conference semis three years straight.

    go to clipperland!!

I think if Sloan coached Dwight Howard, we’d see some pretty beastly numbers from him. Sloan’s offense tends to all flow to the inside while SVG tends to flow to the outside. One of those styles would really help the Magic and it’s not the one that’s currently in charge.

  • T-Money

i don’t buy that williams made him quit. williams is very vocal and sometimes pouty but, ultimately, he will do whatever it takes to win. don’t tell me that sloan didn’t have numerous heated discussions with stock and malone. i think it’s kirilenko general b-tchassness that killed his soul.

COME TO THE WIZARDS TO COACH JOHN WALL AND HARRISON BARNES

  • dako24

Go finish as a Bull. You get yourself a lot of your players back and the best PG in the game right now along with a defensive minded center. Your style fits Chicago.

  • Stainless

Even though going to the bulls would be great for the team considering half of his roster from last year is basically there he would have to accept an assistant position. he should go to the lakers when Phil Jackson retires. The heat would be a good place for him too, send Erik Spoelstra to the assistant position. Or we could end this by him going to the Raps…

  • Justin

Yeah dako24, good one. Replace the probable Coach of the Year with a 69 year old (albeit great) coach hoping he gets a ring. Makes sense

  • MJ23LBJ6

wow imagine miami with sloan the have a terible coach and they 2 in east and if sloan takes his talents to south beach the heat will be scary
