John Wall Aiming to Get Wizards in Playoffs Next Season

Wall’s goal for his second year in the L is fairly simple: Playoffs or bust. The WaPo reports: “In the euphoria of the Wizards’ incredible comeback, overtime victory over the Boston Celtics, John Wall was already overlooking the regular season finale in Cleveland on Wednesday and thinking about next year. In a postgame television interview, Wall said he was focused on making the playoffs in his second season. Afterward, Wall didn’t back away from his pledge. ‘That’s our goal,’ Wall said. ‘We played against teams that’s in the playoffs, we beat some of them; we lost to some of them. We’ve had close games against them, but I think we all are going to be mature next year, learn how to close out games learn how to trust each other more, like how we’ve been doing the last couple of games.’”

With everyone healthy, and if the coach decides to finally allow Mcgee to play more than 25 minutes… yea, I can see that.

If they win 15 games on the road they have a chance.

  • Brandon

McGee can’t handle more then 25 mins

I was watching the local broadcast and they cut to the sports desk after the interview and Chick Hernandez goes “Playoffs? That boy must have bumped his head one too many times this season.”

I was laughing my head off. Way to support your home team Chick!

What a stupid thing to say. I should f*&cking hope that the starting point guard is aiming to get to the playoffs.

The draft probably won’t help the Wizards, draft class is getting weaker and weaker with more kids opting to stay in school than to get drafted and not play (or get paid).

If they land Derrick Williams to go with Wall, Crawford, Young, Lewis, Howard, Mcgee, and Blatche then they will definitely be the Thunder of the East. They have a good chance in my opinion.

I wanna marry the woman of my dreams a year from now but that’s probably not gonna happen. I think i got a better shot at marrying the girl of my dreams than the wizards making the playoffs. This draft is weak. I feel bad for the Cavs. They lost a bunch of games and took on Baron Davis’ contract in exchange for the clippers pick and they might end up drafting nolan smith with one of those picks cuz a bunch of good players are staying in college. If harrison barnes doesn’t declare, they should just cancel the draft. Make Kyrie Irving a free agent and let him sign wherever he pleases. At the very least, cancel the second round. Second round talent will be drafted in the 1st round cuz 1st round talent will be playing in college next year

Derrick Williams would be a nice fit. Now get rid of Blatche and Flip Saunders and things are looking good. As a Wizards fan i’m optimistic……….

I till think there another season away from playoffs but with a one or two savvy moves they are there.. John Wall would be a good PG for Jerry Sloan.

The Pacers are gonna make the playoffs with 37 wins. The Wiz have 23 this year. The Wiz will have a more mature team, won’t have 200 some games lost to injury, a high draft pick, and, oh yeah, $20 mil under the cap(thanks Bibby!) def possible

hopefully they will get to draft either derrick williams or perry jones.. they need some energetic consistency at the 4 spot.. blatche is good but he has his moments when hes hot (which is about 5 or 6 times outta 82 games a season) and his moments where he is sure as hell not.. if they cant land them then they should go for nikola mirotic, kenneth faried, marcus morris, donatas motiejunas.. also id like to see kawhi leonard with them, he is such a great glue guy that any team would love to have..
but i can see them making the playoffs next year, wall has already proven he can make his teamates better, and with a solid draft pick and hard work this offseason, why not?

also, i would love to see harrison barnes get drafted to the cavs.. just to give me a reason to watch them again
