Kobe Likes Brian Shaw As Jackson’s Successor

Brian Shaw has been the in-house favorite, and now with Mamba’s public support, Shaw is the odds-on favorite to succeed Phil Jackson as the Lakers‘ head coach. From Yahoo!: “With Phil Jackson expected to retire after this season, Kobe Bryant already knows who he wants to replace the Los Angeles Lakers’ Hall of Fame coach: Brian Shaw. Bryant told Yahoo! Sports on Friday that he and his teammates will endorse the longtime Lakers assistant as Jackson’s replacement. Shaw is in his sixth full season on Jackson’s coaching staff after serving as an assistant to Frank Hamblen during the second half of the 2004-05 season. ‘I feel all of the players believe in coach B-Shaw,’ Bryant said the Lakers’ Friday morning shootaround. ‘We have such a rapport with him. He’s been with us for such a long time. We all have a bit of a bias towards him. I don’t want to get in the way of management. But we’ve all kind of had our eye on him for a while.’”

B Shaw is the man, flat out and he’s gonna be a great coach. I promise you he won’t just sit back chilling whenever the Lakers get into any of these funks like Phil does.

Whoever works best with Bynum will be the next head coach for the Lakers after my sister’s boyfriend retires. See, the Lakers will become Bynum’s team. Simply put, you don’t build your tream around an aging shooting guard. Bynum is who we build around going into the future. We will not trade him for Howard. Deal with it. Signed, Jim “BOSS” Buss

    *team, babies. sorry bout that.

Dwight in the middle with pau playing more naturally at 4, you can pratically see laker fams salivating over the prospect.

Shaw should ask Mike Dunleavy what it was like taking over for a legendary coach in LA.

I hate the Lakers… with that said I really hope they win next year to prove that it was more the vehicle (Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, Kobe, Shaq, Horry, Gasol, Odom, Fisher, ect.) that won 11 to 12 rings than the driver (Phil Jackson)!

I agree with Kobe. I don’t think Shaw can fill Phil’s shoes, but he has seen Phil working for a long time and probably would be the best and least risky candidate.

Bynum will never be as good as Dwight.
