Polladaday: D’Antoni’s Future?

The Knicks were swept by the Celtics, capping off an up-and-down season in NYC. Many have criticized Mike D’Antoni for his squad’s lack of defense, among other things; do you think he should be a part of the Knicks’ future?

Should the Knicks fire Mike D'Antoni?

no matter how you cut it, the knicks wont be winning a championship anytime soon. 7 first round exit in 8 seasons for carmelo anthony hahahahhahahhahhahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahhahahhahahahahaahhahahahahhah he has got more first round exits then jordan has rings LOL!! KNICKS SUCK……

  • bull22

CARMELO! whatcha you talking about willis…… LOL!!!!! what do you mean my season is over….
all that talk about we jelling this year or next year and then the BROOMS came out to greet you…… hahhahahhahhahahahahahhahhahahhahahhahahhahahah

  • Yesse

Knicks need to play defense in order to succeed against teams like Boston Celtics. In that case D’antoni doesn’t cut it.

  • http://slamonline.com Ben Osborne

Of course he should be fired. Never makes adjustments.

  • RunNGun

D`Antoni is good for this team. If he gets fired, I won’t be a Knicks fan anymore. I’ll jump on the Raptors bandwagon instead. Geez, forget DEFENSE. The Knicks have a bunch of scorers. All they need to do is run up and down the court like bloodthirsty cannibals (because obviously they’re more athletic than most teams) and score more points than their opponents. -__- Beating a dead horse… meh.

What Ben said. I’ve never seen Pringles change his gameplan to better counter the opposing team. In other words, I’ve never really seen him coach.

  • riggs

I dont care about his strategy being offense only, but when it takes you this long to make adjustments to your lineup and to your roster, and you pick up BUMS like jared jeffries and drop corey brewer? you should be fired.

  • riggs

also andy rautins should be getting more burn than being in a suit every game (unless he’s hurt)

that style of play will never win a chip, plus he never had the personnel to run that offense anyway. Dude can’t coach.

BullsStan22 (the number of his I.Q) and the fake RunNgun must be competing for Slam’s Retards of the Year award… Moving along, the people who voted no should probably focus on soccer or curling instead of basketball. Even if you only know the basic rules of the game, you’d know that D’Antoni is a better candidate for an assistant coaching position. He shouldn’t be any team’s head coach, unless it’s an AAU program.

no team is ever going to win a chip with D’antoni leading them. its like he only read half the book about coaching.

  • RunNGun

@ZOOM We can’t compete because you already won the award by default. Congrats! KTHXBAI

It’s not really about the X’s and O’s…The Knicks need to add some pieces to the team i.e. solid role players, build their depth up, and then have a full training camp together. The bottom line is D’Antoni will get another shot with the Knicks next season (if there is one), and I believe it’s the right thing to do. Tweak the roster, give D’Antoni and his staff a training camp and a full season with the team, and let the chips fall where they may. To ask for D’Antoni to be fired now is futile, because it isn’t happening. IMHO, patience will key at MSG, because the Knicks are still a work in progress.

  • riggs

also the knicks arent even a true seven seconds or less team.

  • OEasy

    Get. Him. Outta here.

  • KSupreme

Let’s face it….you have 2 H.O.F and Chauncey. One’s old, one can’t operate in this system, and the other needs steve nash. There’s also young up and comers on that team. The ingredients are there to make a championship or atleast win ONE playoff game. D’Antoni’s system is useless against high caliber playoff teams because they’re not prepared for playoff basketball, which is defense. This system has only caused melo and a few others to jack up ill advised threes, stoudemire doesn’t contest shots, landry fields is non existent. Its either melo goes or d’antoni goes, and we all know the answer to that.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Anyone suggesting Amar’e can’t play without Steve Nash can’t be taken serious.

  • robb

D’antoni should change his name to just Mike Antoni. No D. I bet he can’t even pronounce it.

  • bull22

@zoom, we shall see you next year man, and have fun fishing along the hudson river brother…… hahhahahahahhahahahahahhaaahhahahhahahaahhaahahhahaahahhahahhahaahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahha

IAMORANGE4EVER – from all the sh*t and I mean that literally, that you have said over the last couple weeks, nobody can take anything you say literally. “nobody wants to see the knicks” “we will have a long playoff run” “boston lookin at a first round exit” and all the other ridiculous BS you have said. Go to Sleep.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    seriously*

  • kashdef

Damn meant to say fire him, read the caption and thought the Q was should the Knicks keep him for the future. Ahwell that’s what happens when you browse over it quick…

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

@nbk: so you don’t believe injuries played a role in the Knicks losing in the first round to the Celtics? Try to think about this, if I took Wade away from the Heat with a knee injury, and then gave Bosh a bad back injury that made him a shell of himself, would the Heat beat the Celtics? No way, and you know it. Any NBA team in the real season that loses their star players to injury most likely lose in the real season. But hey, you believe what you want to in “your world” and that you’re basketball “knowledge” is so how vastly superior to mine. Seriously, don’t let the REAL WORLD get in your way.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

    *somehow vastly superior

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

The Knicks weren’t winning that series no how healthy they were. They could have pushed it to 6 or 7 but no chance in h*ll of them winning that series. And by bringing people back to this page, your only highlighting the stupid crap you said before NY got eliminated….for everyone to see.
