Video: Josh Smith Unhappy with Orlando Columnist

After Orlando’s Game 5 blowout win, Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi called the Hawks “Birdbrains.” Josh Smith apparently read the op-ed — ending an interview session by offering this unprompted remark: “‘We’ve got reporters in here that’s calling guys ‘idiots’ and ‘dummies,’ and I really don’t understand how somebody can challenge somebody’s intelligence when it comes to basketball,” Smith said. “It’s a basketball game. Some people like to take it a little bit too far.’ Smith got up from his chair and left the locker room. And then from the hallway, Smith called Bianchi a name that can’t be reprinted on this blog.”

    Wow.

  • JTaylor21

1000% agree with everything JSmith said.
I’m tired of short, pudgy old men criticizing everything young, athletic millionaires do.

“I really don’t understand how somebody can challenge somebody’s intelligence when it comes to basketball”
Is he suggesting that intelligence(Basketball IQ) is not needed on the court?

  • mannyec0409

He is suggesting that people that cannot play in the NBA with the same athleticism, strength and skills and can only criticize a player from the comfort of his office should not be speaking about how a team is full of “birdbrains”. This coming from an Orlando Magic fan as well…

Hey max IQ hasn’t anything to do with basketball IQ thats what he wanted to say. And he doesn’t like that some of these reporters write that the HAwks are birdbrains because they didn’t make the right decision on the court.
    I understand him.

I read that article, and it was stupid.
A homer journalist drunk off the kool aid is all.

Well, that article was very biased to say the least. I like both teams but I’m rooting for Smoove and the Hawks to pull away. (Besides, he did get snuffed from being an All-Star this year.)

All articles would be much better if journalists were only willing to print things that they would say to a guy’s gace.

  • CONEY ISLANDER

Not a big fan of journalists who aren’t former players.

  • robb

Only 2 out of 10 journalists are good and this Bianchi guy isn’t one of them. They think they are so incisive and smart but they are full of sh*t

I would have said the same thing Josh did–right in that reporter’s gace, too.

  • kudos

Clearly josh smith doesn’t use his brain on or off the court.

  • Jer Boi

    take that Orlando!

    Smoove had the last laugh.

as the magic have lost the series, the orlando fans can now blame that reporter.
